Previous issue date: 2018-11-27 / The present work presents a study about the novel The Blind Spot, by the Rio Grande do Sul writer
Lya Luft, published in 1999. Our interest in this work, based on gender studies, is to investigate
some themes that are recurrent in this narrative. From an approach made on the themes of gender,
maternity, childhood and old age, we come to other issues that are crucial in our analyzes, such as:
death, male domination, submission, inferiority, and the silencing of the female figure under the
view of an oppressive regime, the subalternity of the child and madness, which are subsumed
around gender issues. In this way, resulting from the configurations of the female body and the
investiture of gender, the first three themes, previously mentioned, instigate us to ascertain the
discourses and the symbolic representations present in said narrative. It is also in our interest to
emphasize the narrator's perspective as one of the central characters of the fictional plot. Our
proposal is linked to an interpretive bias, in which we try to verify which social places the
characters occupy throughout the plot and if social values interfere in that position. Thus, in order
to achieve this proposal and because the chosen corpus was a novel written by a woman, we first
dedicated to making an explanation about the participation of women in the literary field,
highlighting some factors that influenced the process of insertion of the same in the canon, and
emphasizing the importance of the literary framework of Lya Luft in the scenario Rio Grande and
Brazilian Literature. Subsequently, we present the theoretical field from which the research is
based, and finally, we give space to the analyzes made from the chosen corpus, trying to
understand how to build the place of belonging of the characters within the family environment. Astheoretical contributions that support our analyzes and discussions we have scholars such as
Philippe Ariès (1981), Elizabeth Badinter (1985), Gayle Rubin (1993), Joan Scott (1995), Mary
Del Priore (1997), Pierre Bourdieu , Silvia Carrijo (2013), Vania Vasconcelos (2007), Cristina
Stevens (2007), Adriana Piscitelli (2009), Simone de Beauvoir (2009), Judith Butler (2010) (2017),
Luciana Borges (2013), Silvana Carrijo 2015), among others. / O presente trabalho apresenta um estudo sobre o romance O ponto cego, da escritora gaúcha Lya
Luft, publicado em 1999. Nosso interesse com esse trabalho, pautado nos estudos de gênero, é
fazer uma investigação sobre alguns temas que são recorrentes nesta narrativa. A partir de uma
abordagem feita sobre os temas gênero, maternidade, infância e velhice, chegamos a outras
questões que são cruciais em nossas análises, tais como: a morte, a dominação masculina, asubmissão, a inferiorização e o silenciamento da figura feminina sob o olhar de um regime
opressor, a subalternidade da criança e a loucura, temas esses que se subscrevem em torno das
questões de gênero. Desse modo, resultantes das configurações do corpo feminino e das
investiduras de gênero, os três primeiros temas, anteriormente mencionados, instigam-nos a
averiguar os discursos e as representações simbólicas presentes na referida narrativa. Também é
nosso interesse ressaltar a perspectiva do narrador enquanto um dos personagens centrais da trama
ficcional. Nossa proposta está vinculada a um viés interpretativo, em que tentamos verificar que
lugares sociais as personagens ocupam ao longo da trama e se os valores sociais interferem nessa
posição. Assim, para consecução dessa proposta e por ser o corpus escolhido um romance escrito
por uma mulher, primeiramente dedicamos a fazer uma explanação sobre a participação das
mulheres no campo literário, destacando alguns fatores que influenciaram no processo de inserção
das mesmas no cânone, e ressaltando a importância do arcabouço literário de Lya Luft no cenário
rio-grandense e na Literatura brasileira. Posteriormente, apresentamos o campo teórico a partir do
qual a pesquisa está fundamentada, e por último, cedemos espaço às análises feitas a partir do
corpus escolhido, tentando compreender como se constrói o lugar de pertencimento das
personagens no seio do ambiente familiar. Como aportes teóricos que sustentam nossas análises e
discussões contamos com estudiosos como: Philippe Ariès (1981), Elizabeth Badinter (1985),
Gayle Rubin (1993), Joan Scott (1995), Mary Del Priore (1997), Pierre Bourdieu (2002), Colin
