Machado, configura-se como um expediente de criação literária que elucida a composição dos
agentes ficcionais. Mediante as escolhas e modos pelos quais desempenham suas leituras, as
personagens revelam-se, pois sobressaem seus temperamentos, constituição moral,
preferências. Observam-se também, nos movimentos das personagens, diferentes acepções
para o ato de ler, considerando desde a leitura interpretativa de textos literários, como também
as leituras de mundo, de ambientes e até mesmo de comportamentos e expressões. A fim de
delimitar uma base teórica, foram destacados os elementos que compõem o foco de discussão:
leitura, personagem, compreensão do literário, mediante abordagens de Jouve, Iser, Eco, além
das contribuições de leitores críticos de Eça e Machado, como Reis e Bosi, respectivamente.
Na observação e análise da relação que as personagens mantêm com a leitura e do modo
como tal aspecto interfere no desenvolvimento das narrativas, destaca-se também a figura do
leitor real, como elemento central, cuja participação no desvendar das obras constitui-se
também como atividade de criação literária / This work investigates how the construction of reading characters, in the narratives
of Eça and Machado, is configured as a literary creation expedient that elucidates
the composition of the fictional agents. Through the choices and ways by which
they perform their readings, the characters reveal themselves, for their
temperaments, moral constitution and preferences stand out. There are also, in the
actions of the characters, different meanings for reading, considering from the
interpretative reading of literary texts, as well as the readings of the world, of
environments and even of behaviors and expressions. In order to delimit a
theoretical basis, elements that make up the discussion focus were highlighted:
reading, character, literary comprehension, using approaches by Jouve, Iser, Eco, as
well as the contributions of critical readers of Eça and Machado, such as Reis and
Bosi, respectively. In the observation and analysis of the relation that the characters
maintain with the reading and of how this aspect interferes in the development of
the narratives, the figure of the real reader is also emphasized, as central element,
whose participation in the unveiling of the works constitutes also as literary
creation activity
