Previous issue date: 2011 / Resumo: O objeto de estudo dessa pesquisa é a construção do "eu" na escrita autobiográfica de Graciliano Ramos, que, em Memórias do Cárcere assume os papéis de escritor, autor, narrador e herói. Em poucas palavras: o escritor é quem vivenciou as experiências narradas, o autor é quem assina a capa dessa e de outras obras, o narrador é quem apresenta a história ao leitor e o herói é o personagem em ação nas memórias. Cada um desses elementos é desenvolvido como tema propulsor de outras questões em cada um dos quatro capítulos dessa dissertação. A partir da leitura dessa obra, são discutidos temas como a relação entre o discurso da memória e a ficção; entre identidade e escrita de si; entre história e literatura; além de outros aspectos centrais nessa autobiografia, como a importância do testemunho, a narração do tempo e os sentidos produzidos a partir das condições de escrita e de publicação do texto literário / Abstract: The aim of this research is an in-depth analysis of the construction of "I" in the autobiographical writings of Brazilian author Graciliano Ramos (1892-1953) who, in his work Memórias do Cárcere, assumes the roles of writer, author, narrator and hero. In a few words: it is he, the writer, who lives the narrated experiences, he, the author, who signs the cover of this and others works, he, the narrator, who recounts the story to the reader, and he, the hero, who is the main character in the memoirs. Each of these elements is developed as a driving theme for other questions in each of the four chapters of this dissertation. Some of the themes that are discussed in this dissertation are the relationship between memory and fiction, identity and self-writing, and history and literature. Other key aspects of this autobiography that are examined and discussed are the importance of testimony, narrative time, and the meanings produced from the conditions under which this literary text was written and published / Mestrado / Literatura Brasileira / Mestre em Teoria e História Literária
