"Men det är såhär samhället ser ut" : En studie om musikvideor och könsnormer ur ett elevperspektiv / ”That’s just how society works” : A study of music videos and gender related norms in a pupil perspective

The purpose of this study is to provide an insight into secondary school pupils 'views on gender norms in music videos; and also to give an insight into how gender norms are said to influence the music videos that they watch and what they consider to be accepted in an educational context. In other words, students' awareness of norms in music videos are investigated and how they feel influenced by them. The gathering of information has taken place through qualitative group interviews with pupils in grade 9 at secondary school. During the interviews, the students were shown four music videos that all showcased different aspects from a gender perspective and discussed whether these would fit in a teaching context. The result of this study is subjective as no one is alike in terms of thoughts and opinions, and the result would have been different had I investigated other music videos or interviewed other students. However, the study shows that the interviewed pupils had an awareness of gender norms in music videos and were able to reason about the relevance of the videos in a learning environment.
