Tištěný ozonový dozimetr / Printed ozone dosimeter

Védlová, Petra January 2016 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with ozone measurement methods, especially focusing on opto-chemical methods, when the color change of the sample is examined. Moreover it deals with dyes that are sensitive to ozone and their degradation kinetics. In the experimental part kinetics of dyes Orange I, Orange II and Indigo carmine is examined, These dyes are prepared in the form of ink of different composition. These inks are applied to diverse substrate materials by the material printing method, further by using a Baker film aplicator and in the end by the screen printing method. The properties of the samples are evaluated as well as factors affecting their degradation.

Korrelation mellan visuell bedömning, tryckflammighet och topografi på kartongytor / Correlation between visual assessment, print mottle and topography on cartonboard surfaces

Palani, Rezgar January 2020 (has links)
Print mottle, unevenness on printed surfaces is an undesirable property that has long worried the printing industry. The effect has led to a degraded quality in cartonboard which visually makes the material look stained and worse. The property has been shown to be more evident on surfaces printed with the color cyan, commonly in printing methods such as flexography and offset. This project degree has been conducted at a company in the printing industry. The company has used two methods for assessing print mottle on printed liquid- and packaging board, a Pairwise visual assessment and an instrumental measurement with a scanner and software STFI Mottling Expert. The software has been developed with the purpose of identifying among others print mottle on cartonboard surfaces in an identical way as the visual assessment. For a long period of time, the company has used the instrument to verify the results from the visual assessment. In recent years, the correlation between these methods has gotten worse, to a point where company does not trust the instrument. Correlation analysis has therefore been performed to investigate the relationship between these two methods and the cause of the problem. In connection with this, the company has discovered an opportunity, to investigate topographical properties on unprinted materials from the same production line and its correlation with print mottle. Topographical values have therefore been determined using the L&W OptiTopo instrument and RISE OptiTopo Expert software. The results indicate that there is still a very high correlation between the two methods used to assess print mottle, though within wavelengths other than the one recommended by the software and the causes of previous problems have been presented. Topographical values such as surface roughness and the proportion of craters under a certain threshold have been linked to the print mottle value and the correlation between them shown.

Printograms : Prints developed directly onto garments

Holm, Elin Linnéa January 2018 (has links)
The fast growing revolution of digital printers has made customized printed textiles easy to come by asanyone can order them online. As a result the use of prints in fashion is more common than ever andthe difficulty to distinguish individuality rises. This degree work has therefore glanced through history to search for new possibilities in the oldtechniques. The discovery is the unexplored potential of light sensitive dyes. A technique borrowedfrom analogue photography and that dates back to the 19th century, yet there is very little trace of itbeing used in the field of fashion. The directness of this technique opens for possibilities to createprints directly onto voluminous and irregular forms without the dye interfering with the materialsqualities. Hence this work is investigating the relation between print and form and by printing directlyonto garments it aims to challenage the hierarchical structure between the two.Can printing directly onto garments create a closer relation between print and form design? Are therepotential expressions in analogue techniques that can’t be achieved digitally? And does it make senseto be analogue in a digital world if it equals individuality? That is what this degree work aims to answeras it takes advantage of the technique’s unique qualities and presents new aesthetic expressions infashion design.

Flip the pattern : An exploration on designing adjustable printed textiles

Hennerfors, Simon January 2019 (has links)
How can a textile designer work in an exploratory way to find methods and taking advantage as much of a fabrics surfaces as possible?   This work explores a combination of techniques as laser cutting and transfer printing, how they can be developed and combined to influence each other. The aim of this project is to explore the combined techniques of laser cutting and transfer printing, with a focus on designing adjustable printed textiles.   Through a method in practical working, exploration was carried out in techniques like laser cutting and transfer print, as well as the combined visual expression of several patterns with cut-outs and modularity.   The result of this project is three pieces each representing adjustment in different combinations; One adjustable repeat, modularity, and modularity with cutouts. All three except one consist of two repeated patterns on each side of the fabric. They present examples of how a textile can be changed, the relation between construction and surface print. They all show that a printed textile could be more than just a static surface.   By taking the method of printing two patterns and use laser cutting gives a value for both sides of the fabric and shows how to produce printed textiles with modularity. Additional material or more prints and colors could be investigated further.

Voyage Voyage : A dialogue between cultural identities

Fong, Amandine January 2020 (has links)
Modern production technologies have fostered mass production and standardization of affordable goods. Luxury and culturally meaningful symbols have become common place and largely devoided of their significance. How is our cultural identity affected by this phenomenon? Yet it survives and transforms itself. Voyage Voyage is a coffee set associated with different cultural identities. The set highlights the dialogue that exists between different cultures. The containers are inspired by blue and white porcelain; a material and technique created in China, imported into Europe, and then reinterpreted and appropriated. The set explores how traditional patterns and decoration lends meaning and social value to objects. It acts as an incentive to start discussion and reflection around globalization and the standardization of our environment. It is an invitation to discover different cultures, their similarities and differences, as well as acknowledge them and reflect on our traditions and their iconic symbols.

Made to Fade : An exploration of extending the lifetime of a garment through natural printing in combination with flat piece garment construction.

Tallvod, Lynn January 2020 (has links)
This work serves as an exploration of how garments life can be extended through the possibility of updating it post-use with natural pigment printing. Flat garment construction is explored for the possibility of taking garments apart to update them with print during their lifetime. The technique of naturally printing in combination with flat garment construction can potentially lead to garments that will change over time, dependent on the wearer which creates an emotionally durable design, writing the history of time into the garments.

Lesk a bída DTP: desktop publishing a běžná praxe českých vydavatelství / The splendors and miseries of DTP: desktop publishing and common practice of Czech publishing houses

Falta, Matěj January 2020 (has links)
Diploma thesis Te splendors and miseries of DTP: desktop publishing and common practice of Czech publishing houses tries to map the current technical and personnel aspect of the DTP departments within Czech publishing houses. It uses a quantitative method of questionnaire survey. In the practical part of the research, it managed to obtain data from nine of the ten selected publishers. It was chosen on the basis of their readership with the help of data from the Union of Publishers. Undoubtedly, the main contribution of this thesis is the topic itself - text focuses on a group of media professionals, who are crucial for proper functioning of the print media, although it is constantly overlooked by academia. Tis diploma thesis does not bring any revolutionary knowledge about the feld of print media in the Czech Republic, although with the obtained data it is possible to at least partially analyze jobs and style of work of media professionals in DTP departments. Te work is a small quantitative contribution to the academic discussion, which unfortunately is not currently taking place, although it should.
