Poruchy mostních závěrů - prognóza jejich životnosti / Defects of the bridge expansion joints - durability and expected lifetime

Daňa, Jan January 2013 (has links)
This thesis discusses the types of bridge expansion joints certified for use in the Czech Republic and their disorders. The first part was a theoretical evaluation of expansion joint failures. The second part focused on clarifying the failure of anchor bolts at the cantilever expansion joint. On the basis of determining the cause was then designed a method for determining the durability of expansion joints. Prognosis life cycles corresponds records according to administrator- repair works.

Reliability-Based Analysis of Concrete Dams

Fouhy, David, Ríos Bayona, Francisco January 2014 (has links)
Dams are designed and assessed based on traditional factor of safety methodology. Several drawbacks of this approach exist; for example varying failure probability for structures where the factor of safety is the same. This traditional factor of safety methodology imposes conservative assumptions in terms of both design and analysis. A probability-based analysis has been suggested to account for the omission of uncertainties and provide a less conservative analysis (Westberg & Johansson, 2014). Through the stability analyses of three existing dam structures, a minimum level of reliability or maximum failure probability may be calculated with the ultimate goal of defining a target safety index (β-target) for buttress and gravity dams. These analyses shall in turn contribute to the formulation of a probability-based guideline for the design and assessment of Swedish concrete dams. This probability-based guideline shall be known as the ‘Probabilistic Model Code for Concrete Dams.’ The calculations carried out in this study adhere to the methodologies and specifications set out in the preliminary draft of the Probabilistic Model Code for Concrete Dams. These methodologies encompass analyses within two dominating failure modes for concrete dams; sliding stability and overturning stability. Various load combinations have been modelled for each dam structure to account for the probabilistic failure of each dam under commonly occurring circumstances. A parametric study has been carried out in order to provide insight into the contribution that existing rock bolts provide to the stability of each dam. Furthermore, a study has been carried out into the existence of a persistent rock joint or failure plane in the rock foundation and the effects its presence would have on the sliding stability of a dam. Finally a discussion had been carried out in order to provide suggestions into the formulation of a target safety index through the data envisaged by our analyses for the design and assessment of Swedish concrete dams.

Load capacity of grouted rock bolts in concrete dams

Berzell, Carl January 2014 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to evaluate the contribution of grouted rock bolts on the stability of concrete dams. The load capacity of the grouted rock bolts are assessed considering eventual deteriorating processes. An additional objective was to compare the resulting load capacity with the prevailing regulations in RIDAS (the power companies’ guidelines on dam safety) and possibly suggest new guideline values. The literature study consists of two parts; concrete dams and grouted rock bolts. In the first part concrete dams are discussed and especially the inherent forces and aspects when controlling their stability. The second part treats grouted rock bolts and the theoretical focus is on their function and possible failure modes as well as on the degrading processes (primarily corrosion) that are affecting the rock bolts.  Subsequently, the theory was applied on the Swedish concrete buttress dam Storfinnforsen, which is the largest concrete dam in Sweden. The dam was selected for this study mainly because its shape is archetypical for buttress dams. In addition, a digitalized model of the dam was obtainable from previous research projects.  A numerical analysis with the finite element analysis software ABAQUS was performed in order to evaluate the stability of the dam and to support the analytical analysis. The load capacity of the grouted rock bolts was analytically evaluated with consideration to eventual degradation. Assuming a corrosion rate of 60 μm/year, the grouted rock bolts in Storfinnforsen could after 100 years be trusted with a load capacity of approximately 180 MPa. That load capacity is due to shear failure, which constitutes the most plausible failure mode for rock bolts in buttress dams. The value 180 MPa is to be seen in contrast to the current limitation of 140 MPa that is defined in RIDAS (2011). The conclusion of this thesis is accordingly, that the maximum allowed load capacity that can be assigned the grouted rock bolts in the stability calculations of concrete dams can be increased from todays 140 MPa. This conclusion is substantiated by the analytical analyses with the numerical calculations as support.

Исследование фланцевых соединений на болтах с контролируемым натяжением элементов, воспринимающих осевые знакопеременные нагрузки : магистерская диссертация / Investigation of flanged joints on bolts with controlled tension of elements accepting axial sign-alternate loads

А., Nikitin, I. A. January 2022 (has links)
Recommendations have also been developed for the exploitation and design of a bolted flange joint operating under conditions of alternating loads. A hypothesis is formulated that the limitation of the use of such units under conditions of alternating loads is caused by the difficulty of ensuring a stable tension force in the bolts due to the resulting change in deformations in the flanges during its operation.

Effects of partial fire protection on temperature developments in steel joints protected by intumescent coating

Dai, Xianghe, Wang, Y.C., Bailey, C.G. January 2009 (has links)
No / This paper presents experimental results of temperature distribution in fire in four typical types of steel-concrete composite joint (web cleat, fin plate, flush endplate and flexible endplate) with different fire-protection schemes. The test specimens were unloaded and the steelwork of each joint assembly was exposed to a standard fire condition [ISO 834, 1975: Fire Resistance Tests, Elements of Building Construction, International Organization for Standardization, Geneva] in a furnace. In total, 14 tests were conducted, including 4 tests without any fire protection and 10 tests with different schemes of fire protection. The main objective of these tests was to investigate the effects of three practical fire-protection schemes as alternatives to full fire protection of the entire joint assembly. The three alternative methods of fire protection were: (1) protecting a segment, instead of the entire length, of the beams; (2) unprotected bolts and (3) protecting the columns only. The main results of these tests are: (1) if all the steel work (excluding the bolts) in the joint assembly was protected, whether or not protecting the bolts had very little effect on temperatures in the protected steelwork other than the bolts. The bolt temperatures were higher if they were not protected than if they were protected, but the unprotected bolt temperatures in a joint with fire protection to other steelwork were much lower than bolt temperatures in a totally unprotected joint; (2) as far as joint temperatures are concerned, protecting a segment of 400 mm of the beam was sufficient to achieve full protection and (3) if only the column was protected, only the joint components that were in the immediate vicinity of the column (such as welds) developed noticeably lower temperatures than if the joint assembly was unprotected, but due to heat conduction from the unprotected steel beams, these temperature values were much higher than if the joint assembly was protected. Furthermore, the column temperatures in the joint region were much higher than the protected column temperatures.

Desenvolvimento de aços para conformação a frio de elemento de fixação do feixe de molas / Development of steel for cold forming of U-Bolts for leaf springs

Ventura, Jaime Milan 29 September 2006 (has links)
In this present work the steel and the production process was developed, in order to produce U-Bolts to light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles, without any heat treatment, such as heating and tempering.

January 2019 (has links)
(Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: Bolted joints are broadly used in the industry, but when it comes to their use there is a false impression of being a simple component, of easy dimensioning and easy application. However, designing bolted joints requires a complex calculus systematic and its assembly requires attention in order to apply the correct torque and consequently the ideal pre-load. The purpose of this dissertation was to analyze the pre-load of bolted joints from the tightening torque. Therefore, it was developed a torque wrench with strain gauges to measure the applied torque, and also developed a load cell to collect the pre-load onto the bolted joint. Both signals were instantaneous collected, and from this data, analysis were made over the bolted joints. Three different lubrication conditions for bolt and nut were analyzed: with and without lubrication and dry lubrication (graphite). Two torque application conditions were analyzed: the torque onto the nut and onto the bolt. Therefore, six different groups of bolted joints were analyzed. For each group of bolt, nut and washer, it was applied three torques simulating three assembly and disassembly operations. At the end, considerations were made on the influence of the different lubrication conditions on the applied torque and the generated pre-load onto the bolted joint, and the influence of successive torques on a bolted joint. Torque and friction coefficient tables were generated for all the above mentioned six groups / Mestre

Städler, Hans-Albert 05 November 2012 (has links) (PDF)

Řešení montážních deformací bloku motoru / Solution of Engine Block Deformations during Assembling

Foltis, Aleš January 2012 (has links)
Size and distribution of mount deformation are the main topics discussed in this thesis, using different static loading. The thesis’ primary focus is to show how deformation and stress of the engine block with cylinder liner are affected in the assembly order of the cylinder head. The calculation and evaluation of the solution are calculated by using method finite element, software Ansys. In addition other methods are discussed which can also measure the deformation of the engine block.
