Master of Architecture / A series of surfaces were developed being inspired by the textiles (sarees) of India. The saree was deconstructed, stripped from its mythological and traditional layers of meanings to reveal the threads and was transformed to abstracts that revealed its tectonic characteristics. 18 singular wooden frames were individually woven using cotton threads and then layered to reveal colours and surface qualities. A series of drawings assisted the process to make sense of the spatial quality of the layering of threads.

The purpose of this research was to examine the relationship between a parents' goals for their children and their parenting behaviors. An ecological framework (Bronfenbrenner, 1979, 1990) provides the primary theoretical basis for the study, locating the relationship between parent goals and parent practices within a network of other influences on parenting practices, such as family income, ethnicity, parent educational level, and the degree of similarity in temperament between parent and child. Three different types of parental goals were investigated, using the Parenting Goals Questionnaire (Martin, Halverson, & Hollett-Wright,1991); achievement, independence, and respect for parents. These goals were relevant to subscales of the Child Rearing Practices Questionnaire (Block, 1986). Results indicated partial support for a relationship between parenting goals and parenting practices. The hypothesized link was found for independence-oriented goals and practices, and for traditional goals and authoritarian behavior, but not for traditional goals and parental encouragement of emotional expression. / Ph. One's way of travel dictates one's perception of the surroundings; People's mode of transportation has also evolved greatly throughout the ages. From foot traffic to carriages, to cars and trains, we tend to travel in faster paces, on increasingly linear paths, and with less freedom to wander. In my opinion, it is starting to become difficult to appeal to this emerging group of moving spectators with traditional ways of building. In my thesis, I explore ways to design buildings that focus on creating perspectival images for the moving spectators who are traveling on modern transportation. / Master of Architecture

In 2015, Sweden faced a significant influx of asylum-seeking refugees, leading to notable shifts in political and public attitudes. Previous research suggests that sociopsychological factors, such as group-related attitudes, significantly influence these attitudes. Perspective-taking exercises have been shown to promote social inclusion as well as correcting misperceptions can improve attitudes toward immigrants. This paper explores the mechanisms behind anti-immigrant sentiment by evaluating the impact of a workshop by the Swedish Red Cross Youth Association, “On the Run”, which combines perspective-taking exercises with education about refugees’ current day situation. The study measures the workshop's effect on participating high school students' by randomly assigning individuals to pre- and post-workshop survey response groups within classes and comparing the groups measured attitudes. Data from 346 Swedish students across 17 work- shops in seven cities were analyzed using an ordered probit model. While the workshop did not lead to statistically significant effects on overall attitudes, there were positive outcomes indicating that participants showed slightly more favorable attitudes towards refugees, particularly regard- ing cultural factors. Participating in the workshop significantly increased the likelihood that participants believe Sweden accepts too few refugees. Conversely, there was a significant decrease in support for financial assistance to refugees during their asylum process. These findings under- score the complexity of influencing attitudes through short-term interventions and highlight the importance of considering demographic factors. This research contributes to understanding the nuanced effects of perspective-taking exercises on political and cultural attitudes toward refugees.

This thesis is an exaggerated perspective arcade. The exaggerated perspective has a vantage point that is placed across the street from the site and is differentiated from the sidewalk. Therefore, the position at which the arcade is optimally viewed is demarcated. Over its 100 feet in length, the arcade converges and all the elements within the false perspective diminish in size to support the optical illusion. Constructed perspective techniques and anamorphic perspective techniques are utilized to construct this ideal view of the arcade between the two buildings. / Master of Architecture

Konflikter är en naturlig del av arbetslivet som orsakas av olika bakgrundsfaktorer. En övergripande trend i konflikthantering är metoder som främjar kommunikation och samarbete. Mot denna bakgrund avser denna studie att undersöka hur ett fallstudieföretag hanterar konflikter, med hjälp av Bolman och Deals bok “Nya perspektiv på organisation och ledarskap”. Arbetet analyserar konflikter och konflikthantering utifrån fyra perspektiv: strukturella, HR, politiska och symboliska. Det konceptuella ramverket presenterar dessa perspektiv individuellt, samt modeller och teorier som är relaterade till ämnet. Det empiriska materialet utgår från nio intervjupersoner från olika avdelningar och positioner för att få en inblick i deras syner på konflikter, de involverade aktörerna samt hur konflikter hanteras. Sammanställningen av intervjuerna analyseras med det konceptuella ramverket för att identifiera samband och förbättra konflikthanteringsmetoder. Avslutningsvis visar studien att en flerperspektivistiska syn är fördelaktig för att undvika att fastna i en ensidig syn på konflikter. / Workplace conflicts arise from a variety of underlying causes and are an inevitable aspect of the job. The application of techniques that foster cooperation and communication is a common trend in conflict resolution. In light of this, this study uses the paradigm provided by Bolman and Deal's book "Reframing Organizations: Artistry, Choice and Leadership" to examine how a case study organisation manages conflicts. Four perspectives are used in the study to analyse conflicts and conflict management: structural, HR, political, and symbolic. These viewpoints are presented separately in the conceptual framework, together with pertinent models and theories. Nine people from various departments and roles were interviewed for the empirical material in order to learn more about their perspectives on conflicts, the parties involved, and conflicts resolution techniques. The conceptual framework is applied to the analysis of the interview compilation in order to find patterns and enhance dispute resolution techniques. The study concludes by demonstrating the benefits of adopting a multi-perspective strategy in order to prevent taking a biassed stance on conflicts.

Companies in the EU face increasing challenges and pressures, especially with regulatory requirements like CSRD demanding significant responses. Integrating sustainability through strategic CSR can effectively embed sustainable practices into core operations. This study provides a rare integrative understanding by considering industry, resource, and stakeholder perspectives. Semi-structured interviews with employees in sustainability roles for 1-2 years in SMEs and large EU companies reveal internal and external drivers pushing companies towards sustainability, highlighting whether they adopt a proactive or reactive stance. Findings indicate that external drivers, such as regulatory mandates and stakeholder expectations, are significant catalysts for sustainability, emphasizing the importance of compliance and reputation. Internally, resource allocation and organizational culture are crucial, balancing financial considerations and fostering a sustainability-oriented mindset among employees. Companies with a stronger sustainable culture perceive internal drivers as more influential, aligning with a proactive CSR strategy. Additionally, the study highlights the critical role of stakeholder engagement in driving effective sustainability strategies. Companies that actively engage stakeholders and prioritize their needs demonstrate a higher commitment to sustainability, leading to enhanced reputational benefits and long-term value creation.
