Plate-forme ouverte pour contenus et traitements multimédias en ligne / Open platform for multimedia contents and processing on line

Le Bonhomme, Benoît 14 December 2009 (has links)
The emergency of the Internet as a medium for multimedia content, the manner to access the content including means of enriching it with semantic information constitute large research domains. This thesis situates in this context and introduces an operational implementation of an open and interoperable multimedia content distribution platform. After specifying the platform architecture introducing the support of all media types, effective indexation, content search and on-line visualisation, the first contribution of the thesis consists in several MPEG 7 extensions allowing 3D object description, as well as multimedia service specification. These extensions makes it possible a novel approach of asset management systems fully normalised with MPEG 7 and MPEG 4, the concept being demonstrated by the implementation of the www.MyMultimédiaWorld.com platform. The second contribution of the thesis concerns the fundaments and tools to ensure easy access to the multimedia platform. We developed an original solution based on an access API making possible to third party applications to access content and metadata resident into the platform. A second API, makes it possible to integrate multimedia processing algorithm directly in the platform, transforming it into a continuous evolving environment. The Web2.0 paradigm of user generated content is now extended to user generated functionality. Based on the two APIs, we proposed a novel approach for evaluation of multimedia related algorithms. The key aspects are the online processing, evolving content, execution of algorithms in identical conditions, always up-to-date results. The approach is demonstrated for two benchmarks: the first deals with 3D mesh compression algorithms and the second with 3D shape descriptors developed in the FAME2 and POPS projects of the System@tic competitiveness cluster. The advantages of such benchmarking approach were recognized recently by MPEG committee when deciding to adopt www.MyMultimédiaWorld.com as the standard evaluation tool for 3D mesh compression.

The Impact of Computer-Adaptive Benchmark Data and Assessment Literacy on Student Achievement and Motivation in Mathematics

Rushton, Sheryl J. 01 May 2014 (has links)
Over the past several decades there has been an emphasis in educational research on student assessment and achievement in mathematics. Formative assessments are designed to inform the instructional decision making process and require assessment literacy to interpret and use data provided by these assessments. Many teachers and students were lacking assessment literacy; therefore, they were unable to adjust their instruction and study habits to increase student performance on summative assessments. This study investigated the impact Scholastic Math Inventory (SMI) benchmarks and assessment literacy training had on summative assessments and student motivation in mathematics. The researcher analyzed unit posttest scores and results from the Instructional Materials Motivation Survey (IMMS) for seventh- and eighth-grade mathematics control and treatment groups. The study took place in a public International Baccalaureate (IB) charter school that served families from suburban communities in northern Utah. An analysis of covariance (ANCOVA), using previous CRT math scores as the covariate, was conducted to determine whether there was a difference in the scores of the students who received the SMI benchmarks and assessment literacy training and the students who did not receive this treatment. An analysis of variance (ANOVA) tested whether there was a difference between the IMMS scores for the students who received the SMI benchmarks and assessment literacy training versus students who did not receive this treatment. The study results indicated that summative scores for seventh- and eighth-grade students who received instruction for the unit along with SMI benchmark and assessment literacy training were not statistically different from students in the control group. The results also showed that the student mathematical motivation overall mean scores were not statistically significant. However, the subscale of satisfaction did show a significant difference in the means. The researcher recommended that use of SMI and assessment literacy training be examined carefully, as these strategies may not improve summative assessment scores in all cases.

Webbteknologier inom industrin – Utbyte av gamla system: REST API vs. Microsoft Access

Olsson, Björn January 2022 (has links)

Ranking of Android Apps based on Security Evidences

Maharjan, Ayush 12 1900 (has links)
Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) / With the large number of Android apps available in app stores such as Google Play, it has become increasingly challenging to choose among the apps. The users generally select the apps based on the ratings and reviews of other users, or the recommendations from the app store. But it is very important to take the security into consideration while choosing an app with the increasing security and privacy concerns with mobile apps. This thesis proposes different ranking schemes for Android apps based on security apps evaluated from the static code analysis tools that are available. It proposes the ranking schemes based on the categories of evidences reported by the tools, based on the frequency of each category, and based on the severity of each evidence. The evidences are gathered, and rankings are generated based on the theory of Subjective Logic. In addition to these ranking schemes, the tools are themselves evaluated against the Ghera benchmark. Finally, this work proposes two additional schemes to combine the evidences from difference tools to provide a combined ranking.

Are the frameworks good enough? : A study of performance implications of JavaScript framework choice through load- and stress-testing Angular, Vue, React and Svelte

Marx-Raacz Von Hidvég, Tomas January 2022 (has links)
The subject of JavaScript frameworks/libraries and which to choose as a developer, organization or client has been the target of quite some research, and even more debate. This thesis aims to investigate four of these, namely Angular, React, Svelte and Vue by building a functionally identical application and running performance tests towards them through Apache JMeter to measure throughput. Furthermore, Webdriver plugin will be added to measure full render response times to add another dimension to the discussion. The result of the investigation shows that even if some of the tests speak very highly in favor of some of these frameworks/libraries, some do not, and adding in previous research into perceived values as well as performance metrics of these frameworks make the picture even more complex. Furthermore, the frameworks/libraries in question evolve very rapidly, constantly contending against each other. What this study does, in the end, is to provide a basic method of comparison that can be extended, which will aid stakeholders in researching the frameworks/libraries strengths and weaknesses as well as which framework that fits their project’s needs.

Dominance Based Measurement of Environmental Performance and Productive Efficiency of Manufacturing

Otis, Paul T. 22 April 1999 (has links)
The concept of efficiency measurement is based on the definition of a frontier that envelopes observed production plans. The effect of pollution on productive efficiency is typically studied by considering pollution as not freely disposable (i.e., there is a cost incurred to dispose of pollution) or by assigning shadow prices to pollution outputs. However, the frontier along with the required technological assumptions (such as convexity) needed for a definition of a frontier may be replaced with the concept of pair-wise dominance. With data from a manufacturing facility, the use of pair-wise dominance allows one to consider a wide spectrum of inputs and outputs. Pair-wise dominance can also be applied to segregate production plans into sets according to their relative environmental performance and productive efficiency. These sets are used to identify reference production plans upon which distance-based measures of performance are defined. This research applies pair-wise dominance to time series data from a printed circuit board manufacturing facility to illustrate the approach. The proposed approach is compared to the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) approach. It was observed that for detailed production data the proposed approach was more informative concerning the measurement of productive efficiency than the standard methods. / Ph. D.
