De Grundläggande Förmågorna vs Cyberterrorism : De grundläggande förmågornas tillämpning vid en cyberattack mot Försvarsmakten / The Fundamental Abilities vs Cyberterrorism : The application of the fundamental abilities in a cyber attack against the Armed Forces

Kits, Linda January 2010 (has links)

/
Cyber Terrorism can be seen as a relatively new, complex and diffuse threat that appeared due to rapid IT development. For the Armed Forces this threat can be a new challenge because the doctrine to serve as guidance in the work is becoming obsolete. The fundamental abilities, which are an important part of the doctrine, should be seen as thinking tools for the Armed Forces to analyze, coordinate and describe the business. The purpose of this paper is to investigate how useful the fundamental abilities are thinking as tools in the Armed Forces, against a threat like cyberterrorism. This is done through an analysis based on a scenario in which the Armed Forces command and control system is exposed to a cyber attack followed by a discussion on the application of the fundamental abilities. The result shows that the fundamental abilities are a great support in the context but that the reasoning regarding the application is complicated because the threat takes place in the virtual space.

Bonussystem -Sett ur anställdas perspektiv- / Reward system -From the employees perspective-

Ilhed, Markus, Nilsson, Sofie January 2004 (has links)
Background: Different forms of reward systems have been more common in Sweden and are used in purpose to motivate employees to work in accordance with a company’s goals. By creating work motivation among the employees, a more congruent situation can appear between them and the managers, and the company can perform better results. Purpose: The purpose with this thesis is to study and analyse a reward system from the employees perspective, regarding it’s affect on work motivation. Demarcation: Salary and reward are two different kinds of incitement and we will only focus on rewards that are received beyond the ordinary salary. We will also demarcate the thesis to focus on bonussystem as a form of reward system. Research method: We have carried out interviews with a person who represent the trade union and with three employees who represent the three different departments at the company. Interviews have also been made with the person who is responsible for the company’s reward system at Östgöta Brandstodsbolag. Result: The study shows that a reward system founds to be very positive among employees, due to that it is an extra compensation that can be received beyond the salary. A reward system is motivating when the employee gives the opportunity to influence the goals and measures. Communication is also of great importance to cause work motivation among employees.

Individuell lönesättning : och universitetsprofessorernas arbetsmotivation

Jahic, Jasmina, Nevala, Susanna January 2005 (has links)
Background: All companies and organizations use some kind of management control. A reward system is an example of a management control system, which is used to accomplish congruence between the goals of the employees and the goals of the organization. It is also used in order to motivate the employees and to encourage them to stay within the organization. Today it is difficult for companies and organizations to create and maintain well-functioning reward systems. At many universities individual pay is used as a means of a control system in order to motivate the employees. The public sector has specific characteristics that complicate its pay systems. This affects universities since they are a part of the public sector. Purpose: The purpose is to investigate if the individual pay used at universities results in expected effects, that is, if it motivates professors in their work. The purpose is also to explain why professors are motivated/not motivated by individual pay. Research method: The material has been gathered by interviews with eight professors at the University of Linköping. Conclusion: It is difficult to use individual pay in order to motivate university professors in their work. Professors rather seem to be motivated by non-material rewards than by material such. In addition, individual pay systems can have defects that lessen the possibility of motivating professors. However, if professors have the tendency to be motivated

Budgetstyrning och Balanserat styrkort : i form av en kombinationsmodell

Staflund, Anette January 2008 (has links)
Traditional financial management has lately been criticized, since it gives inadequate and unilateral information for decisions and strategy of the operation. The purpose of this essay is to investigate if a balanced scorecard is able to work together with a budget and become a stronger control system for the management. Essential theory underlies the gathering of data as well as the analysis, and the empirical investigation is based on personal interviews. The conclusions drawn from my analysis are that two parallel control systems could complement each other’s weaknesses. The budget and the balanced scorecard seem to harmonize very well, as the balanced scorecard has a long term strategy while the budget has a short term strategy. In my combination model, the difference in working only with a balanced scorecard is that the budget will have a stronger position than the financial perspective in a balanced scorecard.

Survey on fault-tolerant vehicle design

Wanner, Daniel, Stensson Trigell, Annika, Drugge, Lars, Jerrelind, Jenny January 2012 (has links)
Fault-tolerant vehicle design is an emerging inter-disciplinary research domain, which is of increasedimportance due to the electrification of automotive systems. The goal of fault-tolerant systems is to handleoccuring faults under operational condition and enable the driver to get to a safe stop. This paperpresents results from an extended survey on fault-tolerant vehicle design. It aims to provide a holisticview on the fault-tolerant aspects of a vehicular system. An overview of fault-tolerant systems in generaland their design premises is given as well as the specific aspects related to automotive applications. Thepaper highlights recent and prospective development of vehicle motion control with integrated chassiscontrol and passive and active fault-tolerant control. Also, fault detection and diagnosis methods arebriefly described. The shift on control level of vehicles will be accompanied by basic structural changeswithin the network architecture. Control architecture as well as communication protocols and topologiesare adapted to comply with the electrified automotive systems. Finally, the role of regulations andinternational standardization to enable fault-tolerant vehicle design is taken into consideration. /
Qc 20120730

Dynamic flowgraph methodology for reliability modelling of networked control systems: with application to a nuclear-based hydrogen production plant

Al-Dabbagh, Ahmad Wail 01 December 2009 (has links)
The use of communication networks in digital control systems introduces stability and reliability concerns. Standard reliability and safety assessment methods need further modification to accommodate the issue in the reliability assessment of networked control systems. In this thesis, it is demonstrated that the Dynamic Flowgraph Methodology (DFM) can be extended to model networked control systems. The modelling of the communication network influence on the performance of the control system is presented. The areas that can affect the reliability of the control system are identified using the methodology. The thesis also presents the application of the DFM to a nuclear-based thermochemical water splitting process for hydrogen production, the Copper-Chlorine (Cu-Cl) cycle. The architecture of a networked control system and configuration of instrumentation and control systems for the hydrogen production plant are proposed in the thesis. / UOIT

Hybrid Mobile Robot System: Interchanging Locomotion and Manipulation

Ben-Tzvi, Pinhas 30 July 2008 (has links)
This thesis presents a novel design paradigm of mobile robots: the Hybrid Mobile Robot system. It consists of a combination of parallel and serially connected links resulting in a hybrid mechanism that includes a mobile robot platform for locomotion and a manipulator arm for manipulation, both interchangeable functionally. All state-of-the-art mobile robots have a separate manipulator arm module attached on top of the mobile platform. The platform provides mobility and the arm provides manipulation. Unlike them, the new design has the ability to interchangeably provide locomotion and manipulation capability, both simultaneously. This was accomplished by integrating the locomotion platform and the manipulator arm as one entity rather than two separate and attached modules. The manipulator arm can be used as part of the locomotion platform and vice versa. This paradigm significantly enhances functionality. The new mechanical design was analyzed with a virtual prototype that was developed with MSC Adams Software. Simulations were used to study the robot’s enhanced mobility through animations of challenging tasks. Moreover, the simulations were used to select nominal robot parameters that would maximize the arm’s payload capacity, and provide for locomotion over unstructured terrains and obstacles, such as stairs, ditches and ramps. The hybrid mobile robot also includes a new control architecture based on embedded on-board wireless communication network between the robot’s links and modules such as the actuators and sensors. This results in a modular control architecture since no cable connections are used between the actuators and sensors in each of the robot links. This approach increases the functionality of the mobile robot also by providing continuous rotation of each link constituting the robot. The hybrid mobile robot’s novel locomotion and manipulation capabilities were successfully experimented using a complete physical prototype. The experiments provided test results that support the hypothesis on the qualitative and quantitative performance of the mobile robot in terms of its superior mobility, manipulation, dexterity, and ability to perform very challenging tasks. The robot was tested on an obstacle course consisting of various test rigs including man–made and natural obstructions that represent the natural environments the robot is expected to operate on.

Balanserade styrmått på en värdekedja

Bragg, Erik, Skiöld, Fredrik January 1999 (has links)
