L’édition d’ouvrages scientifiques est un secteur qui s’inscrit dans des dynamiques nationales voire internationales. Les enjeux des auteurs et de leurs établissements de tutelle, en particulier concernant la diffusion des résultats de la recherche et la compétition entre les établissements d’enseignement supérieur et de recherche (ESR), renforcent cette tendance. Pourtant, certains phénomènes incitent à analyser l’édition d’ouvrages scientifiques en prenant en compte la dimension territoriale. Les conseils régionaux se saisissent de compétences concernant la culture et l’enseignement supérieur et la recherche. L’autonomisation des établissements d’ESR conduit ces derniers à s’inscrire dans des dynamiques locales. Cette thèse interroge donc les enjeux de l’articulation des logiques territoriales avec celles de l’édition d’ouvrages scientifiques, dans le cadre de l’autonomisation croissante des établissements d’ESR et de la montée en puissance des conseils régionaux. Le terrain se concentre sur l’ancienne région Rhône-Alpes afin d’analyser plus spécifiquement le positionnement des différents acteurs au niveau local. Une analyse de la chaîne éditoriale permet d’appréhender l’éventuelle inscription territoriale du processus d’édition mis en œuvre par un ensemble de structures recensées en région. Par ailleurs, une série d’entretiens semi-directifs ont été réalisés auprès de différentes catégories d’acteurs : éditeurs, nouveaux entrants, acteurs du conseil régional et acteurs d’établissements d’ESR. Ils visent à mieux comprendre les logiques de ces acteurs ainsi que les rapports de force, de collaboration et de compétition qui peuvent exister entre eux et leur éventuelle incidence sur le lien que l’édition scientifique entretient avec le territoire régional. / Scientific book publishing is a sector that is part of national and international dynamics. The challenges of authors and their supervisory institutions, especially regarding the dissemination of research results and competition between research institutions, reinforce this trend. However, regional councils seize upon matters regarding culture and higher education and research. The autonomy of higher education and research institutions leads them to be part of local dynamics. This thesis thus questions the articulation of territorial logics with those of scientific book publishers, in the context of the growing autonomy of research institutions and the development of regional councils. Field research focuses on the former Rhône-Alpes region in order to analyze more specifically the strategies of different local stakeholders. It examines how the publishing process of a set of structures is involved in their region of creation. In addition, a series of semi-structured interviews were conducted with different categories of stakeholders: publishers, new entrants, regional council operators and higher education and research institution actors. Their aim is to understand the logics of these stakeholders and their possible impact on the link between scientific book publishing and the regional territory.

Esta pesquisa foi efetivada com a finalidade de mapear os artefatos que são atualmente denominados 'livros digitais', caracterizando-os a partir do cruzamento dos recursos próprios do meio digital com as principais especificidades dos livros impressos. A metodologia utilizada abrangeu revisão bibliográfica e observação do objeto de estudo. Para alcançar o objetivo proposto, realizou-se um resgate histórico, identificando as características associadas à noção de 'livro', levando em consideração as modificações ocorridas a partir de sua materialidade. Após esse estudo, foi possível compreender a remediação dos livros impressos nos e-books, principalmente naqueles que podem ser acessados através de e-readers e tablets. Outro recorte abordado por esta pesquisa focaliza a identificação e o registro dos recursos que vêm sendo explorados nas produções que estão sendo chamadas de livros digitais. Efetuada a revisão bibliográfica, foram estudadas as potencialidades do hipertexto, da multimídia e da interatividade dentro do livro eletrônico. Ademais, foram comentadas diferentes maneiras de o leitor se aproximar e interagir com o conteúdo da obra, através da utilização dos recursos citados. Antes de se realizar a análise dos artefatos em questão, foi necessário, ainda, aprender mais sobre a materialidade dos mesmos, percebendo como o hardware, o software e o conteúdo interagem entre si, restringindo, assim, as possibilidades que podem ser ofertadas ao leitor. Na tabela final de análise foram avaliadas as particularidades das seguintes macrocategorias: Identificação, Acesso, Funcionalidades, Potencialidades do meio digital, Aproximação da ideia de livro impresso (remediação) e Projeto gráfico. A partir do estudo teórico e empírico realizado, percebeu-se que o livro é um artefato com propriedades flexíveis, decidindo-se, por isto, propor uma série de princípios que, juntos, possam ser utilizados para caracterizar esse tipo de publicação, independente de ela ser digital ou impressa. Logo, chegou-se a conclusão de que o e-book é um conteúdo digital com as mesmas características de um livro e que pode explorar, além do texto e da imagem, recursos da mídia digital, tais como interatividade, som, vídeo e animação. Através das características predominantes dos artefatos analisados, foram identificados os seguintes tipos de livros digitais: customizável, PDF, digitalizado, multimídia e interativo. / This research has as its purpose to map out the artifacts so-called ‘digital books’ nowadays. They were characterized from a crossing between printed books main specificities and those related to digital environment very own resources. The research methodology applied to it was of two kinds: literature review and an observational study of the object of study. A historical overview was unearthed in order to achieve the intended purpose, identifying the characteristics linked to the notion of ‘book’, taking into account changes that have taken place stemming from its materiality. Given this perception it was possible to understand the remediation of the print book proposed in e-books, the ones accessed through e-readers and tablets mainly. Identification and registration of the latest developments in digital books resources were another point covered in this work. From a literature review standpoint, interactivity, multimedia and hypertext potentialities were crossexamined. Moreover, there had been discussed some of the alternatives to offer readers proximity and different ways to interact with the work content through the use of cited resources. Still, before realizing the artifact analysis, a more in-depth study of e-book materiality was needed. That is, to perceive how hardware, content and software interact among themselves restricting the possibilities that might be made available to the reader. The singularities of the following macro categories: Identification, Access, Functionalities, Potentialities of the digital environment and the approach of the printed book concept (remediation) to graphic project were evaluated in the table analysis. After an empirical and theoretical study, it was realized that book is an artifact with flexible properties, thus, a definition was set forth based upon a series of principles that together characterize this type of publication, regardless of being in printed or digital form. Therefore, we came to the conclusion the e-book is a digital content with the same features of a printed book and the former can exploit digital media resources such as sound, video, animation and interactivity besides virtually text and image. We were also able to identify through the artifacts primary features that were under analysis the following types of digital books: customized, PDF, digitized, multimedia and interactive.

The use of handheld mobile devices : an exploratory study of English Language student educators

Thesis ((M. A. (English Studies)) -- University of Limpopo, 2018 / This study explores the use of handheld mobile devices in the learning and teaching of English language. The problem is that students have to stand in long queues at computer laboratories because the space is limited and they have to take turns in using the computers. Second level English student educators participated in the study; they responded to a questionnaire and sat for test on the use of mobile handheld devices. The study is underpinned by the integration of the Activity Theory and Social Constructivism. The solution is that mobile handheld devices can be used to provide access to learning material and just-in-time information outside and inside the formal class time and space because findings of the study show that almost all second level student educators at the University of Limpopo possess and use handheld mobile devices.

Essa recente tipologia de livros parece impor elementos novos que devem ser considerados ao se planejar sua introdução num acervo. Esses novos elementos abarcam uma gama de questões que interferem não só na cadeia das operações de organização, tratamento e recuperação da informação, mas, se situam em fases anteriores a começar pela seleção e aquisição das coleções digitais. Toma-se como universo de investigação as bibliotecas universitárias públicas brasileiras por serem organismos que, impulsionados pelo avanço dos recursos tecnológicos, necessitam criar um ambiente inovador para o desenvolvimento de pesquisas proporcionando aos usuários novas coleções e facilidades de acesso o que nos leva a analisá-las com o objetivo de elucidar variáveis presentes nesse processo. Questiona-se como e em que bases (políticas e ou diretrizes) realizam-se a seleção das coleções de livros digitais adquiridos pelas universidades públicas do Brasil para alicerçar essas escolhas. Com isso, o objetivo da pesquisa é averiguar os parâmetros de seleção dos livros eletrônicos para inserção nas coleções das bibliotecas universitárias públicas, se as políticas contemplam os recursos digitais para a formação dessas coleções. A pesquisa pode ser classificada como descritiva, com uma abordagem qualitativa e quantitativa. A técnica de coleta de dados que melhor se adequou a proposta foi o método survey, utilizando como instrumento de coleta de dados o questionário estruturado via web e o mapeamento nos portais das Universidades. A partir do referencial teórico levantado verificou-se que o mercado de livros digitais no Brasil está em franca expansão, porém a oferta de livros técnico-científicos em português que suprem as necessidades das bibliotecas universitárias, ainda é restrita. A partir da análise dos dados constatou-se que, a maior parte das universidades públicas federais, disponibilizam coleções de livros digitais em duas modalidades: assinatura e acesso perpétuo, cujo conteúdo é selecionado parcialmente pelas universidades. Esses livros digitais são disponibilizados nas plataformas dos editores ou agregadores/distribuidores de conteúdo, que são também responsáveis pelo acesso, armazenamento e controle dos direitos autorias, ainda que, em alguns casos, a custódia dos livros seja da universidade. Houve uma simetria no resultado referente à política de desenvolvimento de coleções, metade declarou que o acervo de livros eletrônicos atende a política e a outra metade que atende parcialmente. / ABSTRACT - This research focuses on the formation of collections of digital books in university public libraries of Brazil. This recent book´s typology seems to impose new elements that should be considered when planning its introduction in collections. These new elements cover a range of issues that affect not only the chain of the organization operation, processing and retrieval of information, but it lies at the earlier stages starting with the selection and acquisition of digital collections. Take as the universe of research the Brazilian´s university public libraries that driven by the advancement of technological resources, needs to create an innovative environment for the development of research providing for users new collections and access facilities which leads us to analyze them in order to elucidate the variables in the process. Wonders how and on what basis (politics and guidelines) are held selection of collections of digital books purchased by public universities in Brazil to underpin these choices. Thus, the aim of the research is to ascertain the parameters selection of electronic books for inclusion in the public collections of university libraries, if it policies includes digital resources for the formation of these collections. The research can be classified as descriptive in a qualitative and quantitative approach. The technique of data collection that best suited the proposal was the survey method, using as an instrument of data collection structured questionnaire via web portals and mapping in the Universities. From the theoretical referential was verified that the digital book market in Brazil is booming, but the provision of technical and scientific books in Portuguese to serve the needs of academic libraries, is still limited. From the data analysis it was found that most federal public universities, offer collections of digital books in two ways: subscription and perpetual access, whose contents are partially selected by the universities. These books are available in digital platforms of publishers or aggregators / distributors of content, which are also responsible for the access, storage and control of copyrights, although in some cases, the custody of the books is in the university. There was a symmetry in the results for the collection development policy, half stated that the collection of electronic books meets policy and the other half backorders.

The goal of the thesis is to formulate suggestion to Czech universities regarding publication of textbooks and academic texts in electronic formats. The thesis also provides a general view of the Czech ebook market -- the history, formats and digital right management of ebooks are described. The process of ebook elaboration and reading devices with their pros and cons are also mentioned. The comparison of world and Czech ebook and etextbook market is emphasized and the availability of Czech etextbooks and academic text in Czech higher education institutions is mapped. The hypothesis that Czech students' demand for etextbooks is sufficient for profitable etextbook elaboration by Czech higher education institutions in the way that prevents from illegal sharing of content and violating of authorial laws is examined.

This thesis processes results of questionnaire survey in the area of Czech readers awareness of interactive eBooks. In practical part of the thesis process of interactive book creation in Czech environment is engineered.

El presente trabajo de investigación denominado “El Sistema de Libros Electrónicos – PLE y su Impacto Tributario en las empresas de Preparación y Tejido de fibras textiles, en el distrito de Lima, año 2019” tiene como objetivo analizar el impacto tributario en las empresas de preparación y tejido de fibras textiles. Para el desarrollo de esta investigación se ha tomado como referencia los sistemas implementados por la Superintendencia Nacional de Administración Tributaria, el Impuesto General a las Ventas y el Impuesto a la Renta. Asimismo, se analizó el sector textil bajo esta actividad, sus características principales, la actividad e información adicional de las empresas. La investigación comprende Capítulo I, se basa en el marco teórico, donde podemos desarrollar las variables dependientes e independientes, así como el impacto tributario en las empresas de Preparación y Tejido de Fibras Textiles. Capítulo II, básicamente el plan de investigación, la problemática, los objetivos generales y específicos y las hipótesis principal y específicos. Capitulo III, la metodología de la investigación, donde definimos el tipo de investigación, determinando la población y muestra. Capitulo IV, describe el desarrollo de la investigación, prácticamente de trabajo de campo, a través de los instrumentos como entrevistas y encuestas a los diversos contribuyentes o funcionarios principales de la empresa que con su experiencia nos den un mejor aporte sobre el tema. Capítulo V, el análisis de los resultados, donde se analiza las respuestas de cada instrumento empleado, seguidamente la presentación de un caso práctico, para finalizar con las conclusiones y recomendaciones finales de todo el trabajo. / The present research study called “The Electronic Book System - PLE and its Tax Impact on Textile Fibers Preparation and Weaving Companies, in the district of Lima, year 2019” aims to analyze the tax impact on the textile fibers preparation companies and weaving companies. For this research development, the systems implemented by the National Superintendence of Tax Administration, the General Sales Tax and the Income Tax have been taken as a reference. Likewise, the textile sector under, its main characteristics, the industry and any additional information of the companies were analyzed. The research includes Chapter I, which is based on the theoretical framework, where we can develop the dependent, and independent variables, as well as the tax impact on Textile Fiber Preparation and Weaving companies. Chapter II, includes basically the research plan, the problems, the general and specific objectives and the main and specific hypotheses. Chapter III, it’s about the research methodology, where we define the type of research, determining the population and sample. Chapter IV, describes the development of the research, field work done through instruments such as interviews and surveys to the various taxpayers or main officials of the company that with their experience provides better contribution on the subject. Chapter V, the analysis of the results, where the responses of each instrument used is analyzed, followed by the presentation of a practical case, to end with the final conclusions and recommendations of all the work. / Tesis

Bereits vor zehn Jahren gab es den ersten großen E-Book-Boom. Während damals noch digitale Buchinhalte für spezielle Lesegeräte im Mittelpunkt der Diskussion standen, dominieren inzwischen webbasierte Angebote den stetig wachsenden Markt. Für Bibliotheken eröffnen sich durch diese E-Books der nächsten Generation völlig neue Möglichkeiten in der Informationsversorgung ihrer Benutzer. Sowohl der globale Wissensaustausch, als auch der Zugriff auf Fachinformationen können mit ihrer Hilfe beschleunigt werden. Dies spielt insbesondere für Spezialbibliotheken, wie die der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft, eine große Rolle. Denn gerade von ihnen wird erwartet, dass sie die Mitarbeiter ihrer Institute stets mit den aktuellsten Fachinformationen versorgen. Aufgrund der Vielzahl an Lizenzierungs- und Angebotsformen auf dem E-Book-Markt ist hier ein Anbietervergleich unerlässlich. Dieser erfolgt im Rahmen dieser Diplomarbeit für die Bibliotheken der Max-Planck- Gesellschaft. Hierfür werden zunächst die aktuelle E-Book-Marktsituation und die Strukturen der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft beschrieben. Anschließend untersucht die Verfasserin die bisherigen Entwicklungen in der zentralen und lokalen E-Book-Erwerbung der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft. Zu diesem Zweck werden u.a. eine Befragung unter den Institutsbibliothekaren und mehrere Experteninterviews durchgeführt. Auf diese Weise können geeignete E-Book-Anbieter für die Max-Planck-Gesellschaft ermittelt und Kriterien gefunden werden, um diese schließlich miteinander vergleichen zu können. Im Ergebnis des Vergleichs gibt die Verfasserin Empfehlungen für die weitere E-Book-Erwerbung in der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft ab.
