L'étude du film The Count of Monte-Cristo, réalisé en 2002 par Kevin Reynolds, en tant qu'adaptation cinématographique du roman Le Comte de Monte-Cristo d'Alexandre Dumas, vise à mettre en évidence, à travers l'appréciation des différences entre les deux oeuvres, les transformations de l'écriture populaire que supposent tant le passage d'un contexte socioculturel à un autre que l'usage d'un autre média. Paru initialement sous forme de roman-feuilleton, le texte de Dumas comporte les caractéristiques propres au genre. En 2002, plus de 150 ans après que soit parue la version originale du Comte de Monte-Cristo, et après de multiples adaptations cinématographiques réalisées à travers le monde, Kevin Reynolds porte à l'écran le roman de Dumas dans une adaptation libre. Cette « liberté » se traduit par la modification de nombreux éléments du roman, le tout dans le but de plaire à un large public, en particulier aux États-Unis. Ce mémoire s'appuie sur l'hypothèse selon laquelle le cinéma populaire hollywoodien s'inscrit dans la même tradition que la littérature industrielle et vise un effet similaire, c'est-à-dire faire le plus de profits en ayant recours à une « recette » qui sait séduire un large public. Cependant, il est évident que les critères en fonction desquels le film gagne un large public diffèrent de ceux qui ont su conquérir le lectorat de Dumas au 19e siècle. Le roman et son adaptation appartiennent à deux contextes historiques distincts, et sont déterminés par des conditions médiatiques différentes qui ont un impact sur la diffusion et la conception des oeuvres. De ces deux éléments ont nécessairement découlé des différences dans la construction du récit et l'univers diégétique proposés par le film. D'une part, il a été nécessaire de transformer la narration et la mise en intrigue du roman-feuilleton selon les moyens dont dispose le cinéma. D'autre part, il a fallu adapter le contenu du roman de Dumas en fonction des attentes d'un autre public cible. Bien que les spectateurs des productions populaires hollywoodiennes affectionnent plusieurs des thématiques qui ont su charmer le lectorat de Dumas, ils exigent souvent qu'elles soient abordées d'une autre façon. La recherche met donc en évidence les changements qui ont été apportés au roman de Dumas, modèle du roman-feuilleton du 19e siècle, dans le processus d'une adaptation cinématographique qui respecte les critères actuels du cinéma populaire hollywoodien. Este estudo objetiva apresentar e discutir os principais conceitos da Teoria do Polissistema, de Itamar Even-Zohar, a aplicação de seus conceitos à realidade brasileira e as suas contribuições aos estudos literários e à Literatura Comparada. São apresentados os conceitos de sistema e de polissistema, uma hipótese para a estruturação do sistema literário, pela qual são apresentados os conceitos de instituição, mercado, produtor, consumidor, repertório e produto, e hipóteses para a definição de leis de interferência literária. Para a aplicação dos conceitos da Teoria do Polissistema à realidade brasileira, este trabalho realiza um breve estudo de caso sobre o papel da Internet no sistema literário brasileiro contemporâneo. Em primeiro lugar, é discutido o conceito de hipertexto sob a ótica dos trabalhos de Pierre Lévy, Alckmar Luiz dos Santos e Ingedore Koch. Em segundo lugar, é discutido o conceito de blog e sua relação com o de hipertexto. Em terceiro lugar, o texto publicado em blog A Saga do Primeiro Beijo, de Alessandra Félix, é utilizado para a aplicação dos conceitos da Teoria do Polissistema e comparado, do ponto de vista formal, ao folhetim. Dessa forma, visualiza-se o conjunto de contribuições dos trabalhos de Even-Zohar e procura-se comprovar suas principais hipóteses. / Based on Even-Zohar's Polysystem Theory, this work not only presents and discusses its main concepts, but also applies it to the Brazilian scenario, in addition to its contributions to literary studies and comparative literature. After presenting definitions for systems and polysystems, it exposes the hypothesis for the literary system structure. The hypothesis contains definitions of institution, market, manufacturer, consumer, repertoire and product. Also, this work discusses the hypothesis that determines the laws of literary interference. In order to apply the Polysystem Studies to the Brazilian scenario, a short case study over the Internet role in the Brazilian contemporary literary system was produced. The case study starts with an analysis over the hypertext concept under the light of Pierre Lévy, Alckmar Luiz dos Santos and Ingedore Koch. Then the definition for blog is discussed in relation to the hypertext notion. Finally, the Polysystem Theory is applied to the writing A saga do Primeiro Beijo, published in a blog by Alessandra Félix, also comparing it to feuilleton under the formal aspect. By this means, it is possible to see the set of contributions made by Even-Zohar's study as a whole, as well as the application of its main assumptions.

This dissertation offers a detailed analysis of the political publishing of Karel Horký (1879- 1965), one of the important but neglected Czech journalists in the first half of the twentieth century. It also seeks to contrast his life with the contemporary political system, and describes how media texts are influenced by political, social or cultural milieu. A historical biographical method was used to explore the topic, and interpretation is divided chronologically into the compact periods of Horký's life and work. The dissertation shows that Czech journalism was devastatingly affected by political organizations and their leaders in the Czechoslovakia. The impartiality of journalists was essentially impossible. It also shows how different political regimes control, degrade, and exploit them.

Posteriormente, o trabalho nascido no rodapé da página do jornal seria reunido em livro, transformado em ópera, atravessaria o século XX com várias adaptações cinematográficas e chegaria ao século XXI com mais de uma versão em HQ. Essa pesquisa verificará, a partir da versão em jornal, quais elementos inerentes à matriz midiática foram incorporados ou suprimidos nas demais adaptações, para outros tipos de mídia. Para atingir tal objetivo, será utilizado o trabalho de Marie-Ève Thérenty acerca das relações entre literatura e jornalismo no século XIX, com foco específico na tensão dialética entre imprensa e literatura. Também será utilizado o aporte teórico de autores como Antônio Cândido, Marlyse Meyer, Umberto Eco, Roger Chartier e Fréderic Barbier, avançando pelo conceito de transmidialidade, chegando a estudos mais recentes de autores como Alfonso De Toro e outros consagrados neste último campo de estudo. Ao final do trabalho, espera-se demonstrar que a transposição do romance nascido nas páginas dos jornais para os mais diversos suportes ao longo de dois séculos, com a manutenção ou supressão de características do suporte original, podem caracterizar O Guarani como o primeiro produto com potencial multimidiático da história cultural brasileira. / From January to April 1857 José de Alencar has published the novel “O Guarani” at the pages of Rio de Janeiro Diary, a daily newspaper, and it became his biggest blockbuster. After that, the work that was born at the bottom of the newspaper pages would be assembled in a book form, transformed into opera, crossed the twentieth century with various film versions and arrived to the XXI century with more than one version in HQ. This research will check, from the newspaper version, which elements of that novel were incorporated in the composition of the work by the author, and how these elements were assimilated or eliminated when transposed to other kinds of media. To achieve these goals, the research will be based on the work of Marie-Ève Thérenty about the relations between literature and journalism in the nineteenth century, specially focused on the dialectical tension between press and literature. The research will be based also on the theoretical support of authors like Antônio Cândido, Marlyse Meyer, Umberto Eco, Roger Chartier and Fréderic Barbier, to get the intermediality concept through te work of authors like Alfonso De Toro and others related to this field of research. At the end of the work, it is expected to show that the transposition from the novel that was born at the newspaper pages to different supports during two centuries may characterize O Guarani like the first product with multimediatic potential of Brazilian cultural history.

Para tanto, apoiamos nossa análise na investigação do hibridismo formal, que se configura por meio da exploração simultânea de gêneros, tais como a narrativa histórica, as memórias, o romance de formação, o romance picaresco e o romance-folhetim, cujo paradigma é ditado pela obra de Alexandre Dumas. Na análise da releitura do folhetim, servimo-nos das teorizações de Umberto Eco (1964 e 1978) sobre a literatura de massa, procurando demonstrar que as narrativas assumem formas recorrentes, nas quais detectamos homologias entre as estruturas narrativas, o enredo e as proposições ideólogicas do autor No exame dos procedimentos narrativos, analisamos, dentre outros aspectos, as características do personagem-narrador, o qual funciona como intérprete autorizado dos acontecimentos históricos ficcionalizados, na medida em que se configura também como porta-voz do sistema de valores preconizado nos romances. Assim sendo, demonstramos que a revisitação da história espanhola proposta pelos romances tende a enaltecer as dimensões heróicas da história imperial espanhola. / This research was carried out to analyze the six novels of the series El capitán Alatriste (1996- 2006), by the Spanish writer Arturo Pérez-Reverte, to prove the thesis that the rewriting of the Spanish 19th century organized by the series claims at spreading an “objective and true” knowledge of history, by means of a monological vision of historical facts turned into fiction, thus reaffirming the presuppositions of classical historical narrative. Therefore, our analysis is based on the investigation of the formal hybridism which is formed by means of the simultaneous exploitation of genres, such as the historical narrative, memoirs, the didactic novel, the picaresque novel and the serial novel whose paradigm is provided by Alexandre Dumas’ works. In the analysis of serial rewriting, we made use of Umberto Eco’s theorizations (1964 and 1978) about mass literature, trying to prove that narratives takes on recurrent forms, in which one may find out homologies between the narrative structures, the plot and the author’s ideological propositions. In the examination of the narrative procedures, among other features we analyzed the characteristics of the character-narrator, who acts as an authorized interpreter of the historical events turned into fiction, to the extent that he also takes the shape of a spokesman of value system confirmed in the novels. In that case, we proved that the revisiting of the Spanish history proposed in novels tends to exalt the heroic dimensions of the Spanish imperial history.
