The Integration of Google Maps into American Kestrel, Falco sparvarius, Nest Trail Programs

Harper, Dylan M. 01 May 2014 (has links)
American Kestrel Nest Box Programs have been established since the mid 1960’s. The population of American Kestrels (Falco sparverius) along nest box trails has decreased by 47 percent since their original implementation. There are existing technologies that can help in the location of prime kestrel habitat (open fields with conspicuous perching locations) along highways, which reduces the amount of labor in searching for new box locations. These technologies can also help increase the efficiency of monitoring and maintaining kestrel nest trail programs. This study provides an example of how Google Maps can be implemented into a kestrel trail and explains the multiple benefits of the integration.

Investigating Different Map Views for Exploring Neighbourhoods

Edrah, Aisha 31 March 2014 (has links)
Mobile wayfinding and guide applications have become indispensable tools for navigating unfamiliar urban spaces. Such applications address locations targeted, “just-in-time” queries, This thesis reports on research examining mobile tool requirements for discovering neighborhood. In the first phase of the research a preliminary study examining how existing online tools were used for neighborhood exploration. We conducted a second study, considering a home buying scenario in two different two areas, to assess limitations of Google Maps. There were issues with switching between spatial views, search, or Street View required the user to switch to Map View. From these and other results we derive a set of design requirements for mobile tools for neighborhood discovery and present a prototype application called Block Party that addresses a number of these requirements. Block Party supports itineraries with numbered waypoints, easy transitions between synchronized spatial views. Future work will evaluate Block Party’s design in another study.

Cartographer : En kartbaserad friluftsapplikation

Bygdeson, Andreas January 2016 (has links)

Hansen, Björn January 2010 (has links)
The purpose of the thesis was to design an application on the webpage www.gratisbio.se which could present the members locations on a map. Cell phone positions were acquired using existing technology from the service provider. The development consisted of a web interface where relevant information could be shown and a map powered by the Google Maps API. The client application was developed using html and JavaScript, whereas the server application was developed using PHP. [en] CONSTRUCTION WORKS MONITORING USING A GIS: THE TRAMWAY CONSTRUCTION IN RIO DE JANEIRO / [pt] MONITORAMENTO DE OBRAS UTILIZANDO UM SIG: CONSTRUÇÃO DO VLT NO RIO DE JANEIRO

MARIA FERNANDA NUNES SLADE 09 August 2017 (has links)
[en] The increasing urbanization has generated large and medium cities, which without proper urban planning, face daily problems. Among these problems can be detach those linked to mobility, which shows that the current circulation model is expensive and impactful. Becomes evident the need to rethink the urban mobility, encouraging the use and evolution of quality and sustainable means of transportation, thus contributing to the cities development and to the population life quality. An option to improve the mobility is the tramway that operates by electricity force, induces urban renewal, and attracts other collective transportation modes and individual transportation users, thus contributing to a more sustainable and inclusive urban mobility implantation. In this way, in 2014 was started the tramway implantation project in the central zone of Rio de Janeiro, and in this work it is presented a construction work monitoring tool created and used in your execution. After the tool analyses it is possible to conclude that this model served its purposes, mainly in the planning stage, presenting a way to measure the construction progress easy to understand, with wide reach between the project managers and online, construction industry growing needs. Therefore, this study demonstrate itself current, when try to develop a tool that meets a construction industry demand, and innovative since few studies in this theme were realized in the tramway construction.
