The development of trade between EU and China : under the influence of economic integration

Feng, Datong January 2011 (has links)
European Union andChinaare very important economic entities in the world. Trade between them has quite a long history and affects the world trade enormously. The appearance of economic integration in the worldwide influences international trade largely and the influence is becoming bigger and bigger. The integration ofEuropeaffects trade between these two big entities, too. As there’re a few researches about this topic, this paper is going to study what may happen to trade betweenChinaand EU under the influence of economic integration ofEurope. Firstly, I show the history between these two entities to make the background clear. Secondly, I represent some important theories about international trade. Then by using Krugman’s new trade theory, I analyze current situation of trade between them. After that, I introduce economic integration in detail. At last, with the help of Panel Cointegration and Vector Error Correction Model built by Zhang Bin and Yang Yong, I get my conclusion about the future of trade between China and EU: Economic integration of Europe has a negative influence on trade between China and EU, but the influence is not strong enough to change the pattern of today’s trade. Trade pattern betweenChinaand EU will go on developing.

Coca-Cola or Pepsi; that is the Question : A study about different factors affecting consumer preferences

Andersson, Eva-Lena, Arvidsson, Evelina, Lindström, Cecilie January 2006 (has links)
Background: Today, advertising is a multi-billion industry, employing hundreds of thousands of people and affecting billions of people’s lives worldwide. Yet, seeing as advertising clutter has increased tremendously and is more intense than ever, it is vital that companies differentiate themselves from competitors by creating even more powerful, entertaining and innovative advertisement messages, as well as sponsoring different events. Examples of such companies that spend billion of dollars on marketing strategies in order to stay key players in their industry are The Coca-Cola Company and PepsiCo. Purpose: The overall purpose of this paper is to gain a deeper understanding of different international and local factors affecting consumer preferences on a local market. Method: A quantitative method was applied, and thus a questionnaire with 150 respondents on the local market was conducted. The respondents were divided into three different age groups: ≤ 18, 19-34, and ≥ 35, and represent a diverse set of people who are at different stages in their lives. Conclusions: International advertising and international sponsorship respectively influence the local target group in different ways, but they also affect international brand in that they have an impact on brand image and brand equity. Moreover, depending on a person’s age, consumers view brands differently, and thus have an effect on international brand alone, but also in combination with international advertisement and international sponsorship. Together, these factors influence the way in which a brand is perceived, and consequently influence consumer preferences.

”Det går inte att förstå vad han gjorde men man försöker” : Gymnasieelevers föreställningar om Adolf Hitler / ”You can’t understand what he did but you try” : Upper secondary school student’s conceptions about Adolph Hitler

Thörnqvist, André January 2008 (has links)
The author of this degree thesis has interviewed students in there first year of the upper secondary school about (among others) how they express conception about Adolph Hitler. The thesis shows that the students are interested in modern history but they have some lack in knowledge in nineteen- and the twentieth century general history. The students connect Hitler with the Holocaust and they had no conceptions that aren’t known in Hitler research. The students wanted to understand “why” the Holocaust happened and why Hitler did what he did and what his beliefs and thoughts was. In general the students had good knowledge about Hitler and they often saw him as intelligent but also as mentally ill. The students often placed too much in there explanations to Hitler’s own person and did idealistic interpretations, but they didn’t see Hitler as a superhuman or a demon. The students also were good at critical thinking, analysis ability and reflection. The thesis also shows that the interviewed students were influenced by media andespecially movies about Hitler, and the schoolbooks were of subordinate importance. The thesis finally concludes that discussion and orientation in school about historical movies is of importance and new ways to teach about the Second World War, Hitler and the Holocaust can be necessary regarding things as education about movie influence and a social psychology way of looking at things as human evil and the Second World War.

"Barnen gör dagen" : Förskollärares beskrivning av och arbete med barns inflytande i förskolan / "The children make the day" : Preschool teacher´s description of and work with children´s influence in preschool

Sabel, Sanna January 2010 (has links)
The purpose of this work is to contribute with knowledge regarding childrens influence in preschool from the perspective of the preschool teacher. To study this I have asked two questions: How do preschool teachers describe what the influence from the children could mean in preschool? and How do preschool teachers work for the children´s right to influence in preschool? I used qualitative interviews so as to give room for the interviewperson´s own words, thoughts and opinions. The study shows that it is important for the preschool teachers to listen to the children, let them express their opinions and let them have influence on their everyday in preschool. It also shows that the childrens opinions and thoughts are the foundation for the preschool teachers when planning the activities in preschool. Another result is that childrens influence in preschool is a difficult subject, but it is given priority. The preschool teacher´s opinions are that it is important to be aware of their own attitudes in order to give the children opportunity to have influence on preschool.

Ur lobbyistens synvinkel : Svenska miljölobbyisters syn på demokratisk representation och EU: s politiska system / The Lobbyist perspective : Swedish environmental interest groups views on democratic representation and the political system of the European Union

Lithammer, Jesper January 2011 (has links)
The activity of interest groups in the political process of the European Union has given rise to a broad debate concerning the effect on European democracy these groups have. As relatively powerful political actors, the question of these groups’ views on the EU and how the union should be is an important one. The status of these groups owns democratic representation also affects the democratic status of the EU. Being based on a number of theories, this study adopts an ideology analysis for the purpose of testing these theories on two cases – the Swedish environmental organizations World Wide Fund for Nature and The Swedish Society for Nature Conservation. This study conducts an investigation of these questions based on theories of interest group involvement in politics, aswell as the broader theories of pluralism and corporatism in a democratic political system. The question of representation is examined based on different perspectives and theories of representation, specifically on discursive representation which offers a view unlike the normal one of representing individuals or voters. The analysis shows varying support for the pluralist and corporatist view of politics, aswell as clear support for the discursive representation together with the more “traditional” view of representation.

Error Analysis of Basque/Spanish Learners' Written Language: A Case Study

Avazpour, Kimia Raha January 2012 (has links)
It is generally believed that when learning another language, students most commonly use their first language as the source of language influence. In the Basque region of Spain people are either Spanish monolinguals or Basque bilinguals and in this case study I set out to see whether students use Spanish or Basque as a reference when learning English. The three most common written errors of Spanish monolinguals and Basque bilinguals were analyzed by using Error Analysis as an analytical tool. The errors were not only described but also reasons were put forward as to why these errors were made. Even though Basque was the first language of half of the students, the results show that Spanish was the main source of influence when writing in English.

Peer Influences on Weight-related Behaviors and Attitudes in Adolescence: A Longitudinal Examination of Romantic Partner Effects

Guerry, Whitney Brechwald January 2012 (has links)

During adolescence, both boys and girls confront a period of heightened risk for dissatisfaction with weight and shape and engagement in unhealthy appearance-related behaviors. For many adolescents, this risk coincides with involvement in a range of romantic partnerships. Although a considerable body of empirical work has investigated same-gender peer influences on weight- and shape-related attitudes and behaviors, very little research has examined the role of romantic partners in this socialization process. Derived from social norms and social rewards theories of influence, this study examined several distinct modes through which romantic partners may influence changes in gender-specific behaviors and attitudes over a 6-month period. Participants included 214 (56% female) male and female adolescents ages 16-17 who reported having a romantic partner (of varying seriousness and relationship length) at Time 1. Results from multiple group (by gender) longitudinal path analyses revealed that both boys and girls experienced weight-related influence from a romantic partner. The seriousness and length of a romantic partner relationship moderated some, but not all, influence effects. Findings suggest that romantic relationships are important contexts for changes in adolescents' appearance-related health. Future research should examine romantic partners as contributors to both health-risk and health-promoting behaviors and attitudes.
/ Dissertation

The Anti-Dam Movements in Thailand

Meesomboonpoonsuk, Suwannarat 05 June 2012 (has links)
This dissertation is a qualitative examination of how the anti-dam movements, with so many disadvantages, are able to pursue their goals in a hybrid democratic political system in Thailand. This dissertation tries to prove that the extra-bureaucratic influence, which emerges from the anti-dam movements are gaining their foothold in the dam politics of Thailand and become a major cause in increase in pluralism in the fragmented authoritarian regime of Thailand. There are two major arguments in the dissertation: Firstly, FA framework, which has already been proved applicable to China by Lieberthal and Oksenberg in 1988 and by Metha in 2008 is also applicable to Thailand. Second argument is that the success of anti-dam movement should not be judged simply by the ability to cancel the project. If we only consider the ability to cancel the project, we may either overestimate or underestimate the ability of anti-dam movement. However, it does not mean that the ability to cancel the dam project does not count at all or should be excluded completely because it still proves the short-term success, which means that the project is cancelled as that moment. In sum, the ¡§success¡¨ of the anti-dam movement mentioned in this dissertation is the ability to transform the state¡¦s decision-making process for the dam project into the direction of more pluralism and less of authoritarianism so that individuals and groups both inside and outside the traditional arenas of policymaking have increasing role in the policy process. Thus the ability to cancel the dam project is an additional indicator not the main one. This view is illustrated through the four case studies: Bhumibol Dam, Nam Choan Dam, Pak Mun Dam, and Kaeng Sua Ten Dam.

Factors Affecting the Purchase Intention of Recommended Products in On-line Stores

Ku, Yi-Cheng 28 July 2005 (has links)
The rapid increase of available products and information on the Internet has created new problems for consumers. In stead of not having adequate alternatives, consumers have to spend a lot of effort in filtering and processing information. Overcoming information overload becomes a key issue for information search. As a result, information filtering and product recommendation become increasingly popular among on-line stores. These e-stores can collect user preference and use the information for product recommendation and personalized services. The purpose of recommendation systems is to increase consumers¡¦ purchase intentions, which may be affected by many factors. The objective of this study is to investigate factors that may affect the purchase intention of consumers. More specifically, the research adopts two theories, the elaboration likelihood model and the social influence theory, to build a research framework. We assume that the recommendation message affect consumer attitudes and intention through information and social influences. A laboratory experiment was conducted that use books and movies as two products to test the theory. The results indicate that purchase intention was affected by the attitude toward the recommended product and informational influence. The attitude toward the recommended product, informational influence, and normative social influence were affected by the type of the products and web comments on the product. Different recommendation approaches also affected consumers¡¦ perception of informational influence. The contribution of the research is two folds. First, we develop a theory that can be used to interpret the effect of different factors in the recommendation process. Second, the results have explored much insight into how product recommendation affects consumer attitude and purchase intention and can also be used in designing recommendation systems.

An Exploration of Taiwan's Media Industry Development and Multi-Business Strategic Analysis-EMG Case

Lee, Biau 02 December 2005 (has links)
For a long time, Taiwan media industry is affected greatly by the interwoven of economics and politics; before 1988 the numbers of newspaper¡Bbroadcasting station and TV company were heavily controlled by the government, but after 1988, due to the advancement of media technology, we witnessed that not only the scale and scope of whole industry expanded, but also the number of firm increases in accompany with the path of policy deregulation and democratic movement. Due to the emergence of media-broadcasting technology and the ¡§convergence¡¨ of TV¡B communication and network, conglomerate media firm appears in Taiwan which shows the ambitious development of cross-boundary from local-region to region-global, and the approach used by firm attract the attention and concern of scholars in different academic arenas. This thesis firstly proposed an economic-politic analysis of media industry, secondly, presented an integrated framework of industry evolution and international media expansion path, and thirdly, the case of Eastern Multimedia Group is examined and analyzed. Examining the organization change and the expansion path of Eastern Multimedia Group, the similarity between Eastern Multimedia Group and the giant firm like News Group can be found and identified, but seemly that the product sphere and its influence power are not as great as the international firm, and the expansion path is confined by the regional opportunity and market.
