Intellectual Property Protection in innovation projects Author:

Marisova, Iana January 2012 (has links)
Intellectual products, scientific knowledge, information, professional, scientific, spiritual and cultural potential of the society today are the driving force behind economic growth, determine the competitiveness of production. This sets a strengthening of the role of intellectual property. The crucial role of intellectual assets in the global economy growth determined the choice of innovative strategy by Ukraine in the 21 stcentury. The important part of that strategy is the development of the national legal framework that includes adoption of the national laws and accession to international agreements that become part of the national legislation. The solution of the problem of forming an effective system of protection of intellectual property is a prerequisite for building a strong background for an innovative model of Ukraine’s development, its modernization, and the raising of its competitiveness in a global social-economic system, and consequently - creating jobs in new industries that could shape a 21st century global economy - an economy based on knowledge. The following thesis is a qualitative study about intellectual property protection and intended for Ukrainian companies and for students as information paper because there is differences between the old system in former Soviet and the European/US systems that has to be understood and business in Ukraine as well as researchers/inventors has to adjust to this different situations in order for companies to exploit the full potential of their innovations, part of this is by IP protection.

Corporate intellectual capital reporting : the case of Germany

Zerr, Viktoria January 2013 (has links)
This study investigates potential motivations for intellectual capital (IC) reporting in management reports of 428 German companies for the accounting year 2010. To infer motivations, agency theory and legitimacy theory are applied to test which theory better explains IC reporting. To approach methodological issues regarding how to measure IC value and IC reporting, the study is structured in three research projects. The first two research projects analyse methodological approaches, providing the basis for testing theories in project three. In the first project, a novel measure to estimate IC value is identified in the area of mergers and acquisitions research and innovatively applied to the area of IC research. This novel long-run value-to-book measure allows testing of previously untested IC-related hypotheses. The second research project supports a parsimonious design of a research framework for an IC content analysis and specifies which IC components are important to focus on. In the final project, the results show that legitimacy theory better explains IC reporting compared to agency theory. According to the findings, IC reporting is motivated to legitimise a company’s market position and to justify the use of intangible resources. The findings of this study contribute to the research areas of measuring IC value, analysing IC content, and applying theories to IC reporting.

The use of psychotherapy in supporting people with intellectual disabilities who have experienced bereavement

Blackman, Noelle January 2013 (has links)
This study aimed to build an understanding of the internal and external factors that affect the bereavement process in people with intellectual disabilities (PWID). This was achieved by drawing on my previously published works, by analysing the research of others and by applying a critical clinical reflection to examples from my practice as a dramatherapist with PWID, through the use of vignettes. The study is uniquely concerned with what can be learned by exploring the significance of the attachment relationship, the complexity of dependency and the effect of living with the primary trauma of disability on bereavement and grieving. A comprehensive analysis of the existing research revealed that there is little understanding of the normal bereavement process in PWID and that there is a high incidence of complicated grief. The critical reflection on practice enabled me to enlarge upon the emergent theory of complex grief and to identify important components. By applying the lens of attachment theory a greater awareness of how grief can become complicated has been reached that can inform the design of more responsive services for PWID. This study has highlighted that there are both internal and external reasons which may explain some of the emerging evidence that points to an abnormally high incidence of complicated grief in PWID (Brickel and Munir 2008 and Dodd and Guerin 2009), A new model of psychodynamic disability psychotherapy has emerged from this study, which proposes to include the supportive network as a component of the therapeutic treatment for PWID. The model and findings from this study can be used to inform the development of appropriate bereavement support for PWID. The findings can be further used in order to promote more supportive and effective practice from Health and Social Care Professionals towards families when a baby with intellectual disabilities is born.

“Society seems like it doesn’t even know...”: archival records regarding people labelled with intellectual disability who have been institutionalized in Manitoba

Horodyski, Mary 09 February 2017 (has links)
This thesis examines issues surrounding access to records relating to people labelled with intellectual disability who have been institutionalized in Manitoba. It argues that the devaluation of people labelled with intellectual disabilities, together with the failures and difficulties in acquiring, preserving, describing and accessing records that describe the historical experiences of people labelled with intellectual disability who have been institutionalized, allows society to continue to seem like it does not know “the wrong they are doing with institutions.” In conclusion, this thesis advocates for means by which the experiences of people who have been institutionalized could be created, archived and more broadly available to the public. / February 2017
