Vidalenc, Bruno 28 June 2012 (has links) (PDF)

P2P SIP over mobile ad hoc networks

Wongsaardsakul, Thirapon 04 October 2010 (has links) (PDF)
This work presents a novel Peer to Peer (P2P) framework for Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) on Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET). SIP is a client-server model of computing which can introduce a single point of failure problem. P2P SIP addresses this problem by using a distributed implementation based on a P2P paradigm. However, both the traditional SIP and P2P SIP architectures are not suitable for MANETs because they are initially designed for infrastructured networks whose most nodes are static. We focus on distributed P2P resource lookup mechanisms for SIP which can tolerate failures resulting from the node mobility. Our target application is SIP-based multimedia communication in a rapidly deployable disaster emergency network. To achieve our goal, we provide four contributions as follows. The first contribution is a novel P2P lookup architecture based on a concept of P2P overlay network called a Structured Mesh Overlay Network (SMON). This overlay network enables P2P applications to perform fast resource lookups in the MANET environment. SMON utilizes a cross layer design based on the Distributed Hashing Table (DHT) and has direct access to OLSR routing information. Its cross layer design allows optimizing the overlay network performance during the change of network topology. The second contribution is a distributed SIP architecture on MANET providing SIP user location discovery in a P2P manner which tolerates single-point and multiple-point of failures. Our approach extends the traditional SIP user location discovery by utilizing DHT in SMON to distribute SIP object identifiers over SMON. It offers a constant time on SIP user discovery which results in a fast call setup time between two MANET users. From simulation and experiment results, we find that SIPMON provides the lowest call setup delay when compared to the existing broadcast-based approaches. The third contribution is an extended SIPMON supporting several participating MANETs connected to Internet. This extension (SIPMON+) provides seamless mobility support allowing a SIP user to roam from an ad hoc network to an infrastructured network such as Internet without interrupting an ongoing session. We propose a novel OLSR Overlay Network (OON), a single overlay network containing MANET nodes and some nodes on the Internet. These nodes can communicate using the same OLSR routing protocol. Therefore, SIPMON can be automatically extended without modifying SIPMON internal operations. Through our test-bed experiments, we prove that SIPMON+ has better performance in terms of call setup delay and handoff delay than MANET for Network Mobility (MANEMO). The fourth contribution is a proof-of-concept and a prototype of P2P multimedia communication based on SIPMON+ for post disaster recovery missions. We evaluate our prototype and MANEMO-based approaches through experimentation in real disaster situations (Vehicle to Infrastructure scenarios). We found that our prototype outperforms MANEMO-based approaches in terms of call setup delay, packet loss, and deployment time.

Study and reduction of the matrix effects in analytical ICP mass spectrometric measurements / Bandinio sudėties įtakos elementų koncentracijų nustatymui indukcinės plazmos masių spektrometrijoje tyrimas

Ežerinskis, Žilvinas 27 December 2011 (has links)
Measurements of the signals proportional to the radiation intensities or the number densities of the charged particles in argon ICP plasma are between the most popular methods of analysis of low concentrations of elements. But the relationships between the signals and the quantity of element in the sample are very complicated, depend on many physical phenomena and chemical reactions and must be calibrated by application of the reference materials. The accuracy of analysis depends on the level of agreement between the compositions of the RM matrices and the sample. As the exact matching is not possible the signal formation in the argon plasma and the effects of matrices on the analytical results should be studied. A method of calibration of the dependence of the sensitivity of the mass spectrometer on the ion masses and methods to determine the electron density and temperature from the mass spectrometric measurement data were proposed. Those aid estimation of the ion signals for analysis and assessment of the measurement uncertainty. The largest matrix effects usually are due to easy to ionize elements. The results show that those elements in argon plasma, depending on the ionization potentials and the structure of the atomic energy levels, differ in possibilities to increase the temperature, the temperature and density gradients, deviation from the local thermodynamic equilibrium, take part in charge transfer reaction between doubly ionized ions and argon atoms. The phenomena... [to full text] / Mažos elementų koncentracijos šiuo metu dažniausiai yra nustatomos fizikiniais metodais. Dažnai matuojamas spinduliuotės stipris arba elektringų dalelių skaičius. Performance of the transmission control protocol (TCP) over wireless with quality of service.

Walingo, Tom. January 2001 (has links)
The Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) is the most widely used transport protocol in the Internet. TCP is a reliable transport protocol that is tuned to perform well in wired networks where packet losses are mainly due to congestion. Wireless channels are characterized by losses due to transmission errors and handoffs. TCP interprets these losses as congestion and invokes congestion control mechanisms resulting in degradation of performance. TCP is usually layered over the Internet protocol (lP) at the network layer. JP is not reliable and does not provide for any Quality of Service (QoS). The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) has provided two techniques for providing QoS in the Internet. These include Integrated Services (lntServ) and Differentiated Services (DiffServ). IntServ provides flow based quality of service and thus it is not scalable on connections with large flows. DiffServ has grown in popularity since it is scalable. A packet in a DiffServ domain is classified into a class of service according to its contract profile and treated differently by its class. To provide end-to-end QoS there is a strong interaction between the transport protocol and the network protocol. In this dissertation we consider the performance of the TCP over a wireless channel. We study whether the current TCP protocols can deliver the desired quality of service faced with the challenges they have on wireless channel. The dissertation discusses the methods of providing for QoS in the Internet. We derive an analytical model for TCP protocol. It is extended to cater for the wireless channel and then further differentiated services. The model is shown to be accurate when compared to simulation. We then conclude by deducing to what degree you can provide the desired QoS with TCP on a wireless channel. / Thesis (M.Sc.Eng.)-University of Natal, Durban, 2001.

Ouerhani, Yousri 16 November 2012 (has links) (PDF)

Nyblom Pettersson, Eric January 2014 (has links)

Mobility support architectures for next-generation wireless networks

Wang, Qi January 2006 (has links)
With the convergence of the wireless networks and the Internet and the booming demand for multimedia applications, the next-generation (beyond the third generation, or B3G) wireless systems are expected to be all IP-based and provide real-time and non-real-time mobile services anywhere and anytime. Powerful and efficient mobility support is thus the key enabler to fulfil such an attractive vision by supporting various mobility scenarios. This thesis contributes to this interesting while challenging topic. After a literature review on mobility support architectures and protocols, the thesis starts presenting our contributions with a generic multi-layer mobility support framework, which provides a general approach to meet the challenges of handling comprehensive mobility issues. The cross-layer design methodology is introduced to coordinate the protocol layers for optimised system design. Particularly, a flexible and efficient cross-layer signalling scheme is proposed for interlayer interactions. The proposed generic framework is then narrowed down with several fundamental building blocks identified to be focused on as follows. As widely adopted, we assume that the IP-based access networks are organised into administrative domains, which are inter-connected through a global IP-based wired core network. For a mobile user who roams from one domain to another, macro (inter-domain) mobility management should be in place for global location tracking and effective handoff support for both real-time and non-real-lime applications. Mobile IP (MIP) and the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) are being adopted as the two dominant standard-based macro-mobility architectures, each of which has mobility entities and messages in its own right. The work explores the joint optimisations and interactions of MIP and SIP when utilising the complementary power of both protocols. Two distinctive integrated MIP-SIP architectures are designed and evaluated, compared with their hybrid alternatives and other approaches. The overall analytical and simulation results shown significant performance improvements in terms of cost-efficiency, among other metrics. Subsequently, for the micro (intra-domain) mobility scenario where a mobile user moves across IP subnets within a domain, a micro mobility management architecture is needed to support fast handoffs and constrain signalling messaging loads incurred by intra-domain movements within the domain. The Hierarchical MIPv6 (HMIPv6) and the Fast Handovers for MIPv6 (FMIPv6) protocols are selected to fulfil the design requirements. The work proposes enhancements to these protocols and combines them in an optimised way. resulting in notably improved performances in contrast to a number of alternative approaches.

Handover Algorithms For Mobile Ipv6

Gungor, Vehbi Cagri 01 December 2003 (has links) (PDF)
With recent technological advances in wireless communication networks, the need for an efficient architecture for IP mobility is becoming more apparent. Enabling IP mobility architecture is a significant issue for making use of various portable devices appearing on the Internet. Mobile IP, the current standard for IP based mobility management, is capable of providing wireless Internet access to mobile users. The most important feature of Mobile IP is its ability to support the changing point of attachment of the mobile user by an algorithm known as handover. A handover algorithm is needed to maintain connectivity to the Internet whenever the mobile users move from one subnet to another, while simultaneously providing minimum disruption to ongoing sessions. This thesis gives an overview of Mobile IP, its open issues, some of the subsequent enhancements and extensions related to the handover management problem of the mobile user. Description and evaluation of various handover algorithms for Mobile IP which have been proposed to reduce packet loss and delay during handover constitute the core of the thesis. In this thesis, a comparative performance evaluation of the proposed protocols and the combination of them is also presented through simulations.
