DISH - archeologické doklady a frekvence v současné populaci. / DISH - archeological evidence and frequencies in the present population.

Peigerová, Kateřina January 2012 (has links)
The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of adult disability caused by Forestier disease among skeletal material in monastic burial grounds and to compare it with the frequency of the lay cemeteries. Five cemeteries of the High Middle Ages to the early modern period, were divided into groups according to age and sex. Also, we evaluated the radiographs, investigated the frequency of adult disability caused by Forestier disease in the population. It was found that the disease in skeletal and X-ray material occurred more frequently among men than women, and did not occure until the age of 40. Furthermore, we found that the higher occurence was among monastic funerals. And since there is an increase Forestier disease in the present population. The question is, whether the external conditions, hence increasing obesity in the population, have an impact on the occurrence of Forestier disease.

January 2019 (has links)
In an situation, this program enabled at the second level and teaching, it mas developed with distance learning in modular system. In Rondônia, studies indicate that the Project was developed from 1976 to 1994, but despite its importance for education, since it was one of the first in the state and represented a possible way of disseminate educational proposals, there is no research about specifically training of the students of Logos II. The purpose of this research is to elaborate a historical interpretation based on the Logos II didactic material, establishing relations with the testimonies of the Rondonians teachers who approach the school daily life of the period in which they studied the project (1976 to 1994). As sources, we considered the modules, legislation, enrollment forms, school records, diplomas and other documents of the trainees referring to Logos II, in addition, we also analyzed the interviews that were carried out with teachers-students in the cities of Ariquemes , Pimenta Bueno and Vilhena, samples of places where the project worked. As a theoretical-methodological contribution, the Ginzburg (1989, 2002; 2008) paradigm, the concept of a document as quoted by Le Goff (2003), the critique of Bloch's paper (2001), the triangulation of data of Mathison (1988), Peter... Imagens de ébano em altares barrocos: as irmandades leigas de negros em São Paulo (séculos XVIII-XIX) / Ebony images in baroque altars: the lay black brotherhoods in São Paulo (XVIIIth-XIXth)

Comar, Michelle 10 March 2009 (has links)
The study of the religiosity is fundamental to the understanding of the Brazilian culture constitution - its practices and representations.

Pithan, Liana Haygert January 2018 (has links)
The era of downsizing (CALDAS, 2000) is spreading over Brazilian journalism. Cyclically and uninterrupted since 2012, journalists are expelled from jobs and from their professional area - whether in surgical spending cuts or collective layoffs, known in the class jargon as "passaralho." The great exodus of newsrooms is a worldwide phenomenon (REINARDY, 2016) and it has forced thousands of media professionals to resign, as the industry tries to adapt to the transformations of the unstable scenario of the information age (CASTELLS, 2011) when the changes in news production and consumption are profound. Bankruptcies, mergers and organizational downsizing are commonplace into the press routine and change the lives of both those who are fired and those who continue to work with insecure and overworked conditions. The choices of the press are to change or die (TANDOC, 2014), in an increasingly evident process for the workers of destruction and reconstruction of knowledge, practices and values of office. Although journalism is in a spiral of death (MCCHESNEY, 2016) and its phenomenon reminds the dismantling of banking work (OLTRAMARI, 2010), the is no relevant Brazilian academic production about the journalists who are expelled from their jobs and profession. In order to understand these changes, this dissertation investigates how the era of downsizing impacts the perception of journalists in relation to their profession, their work and their plans to continue in the activity. For this purpose, this basic qualitative study, of an exploratory and interpretative nature, carried out empirical research through three focus groups (MORGAN, 1996, 1997) in Porto Alegre city. Selected by snowball technique, were heard 18 journalists victims or survivors of layoff. It was analyzed the macro-contextual, productive and labor-based levels of postmodernity (FARIA, 2003, 2009, HARVEY, 1998); (1998), and in the literature on the effects of downsizing on individuals (GREENHALGH and ROSENBLATT, 2010; NOER, 2009). Interpreted from the content analysis (BARDIN, 2011), the results showed that the layoff experience made journalists perceive intensely precarious working relationships, and they feel hopeless that the employers' organizations succeed. They also feel there are destruction and reconstruction of values and practices of the craft, and the workload causes exhaustion and dissatisfaction. Downsizing is seen as proof of an irreversible organizational decline, in which being dismissed will be inevitable one day. The present leads the workers to project the future in two directions: leaving journalism; or resist, either through the recovery of basic values, such as social function and credibility; either by adapting to the changing market, acquiring new skills and reinventing how to do and "sell" the work.

Disgusted by Food: Explanatory Models of Anorexia Among Young Taiwanese Adults

McLawhorn, Donald E, Jr. 25 June 2008 (has links)
Anorexia as a nosological category has developed in a western context and is now being applied to people around the world. In order for researchers to know they are asking the right questions about AN as knowledge expands, it is important to understand what meanings Anorexia carries and how those meanings manifest locally. The present study to aid in that understanding by employing a mixed methods (survey and in-depth interviewing) research approach in answering the following question: In what ways are Taiwanese students' explanatory models of anorexia nervosa (AN) congruent with or different from professional understandings derived from the western Bio-medical perspective? In answering this question, this study first addresses the current state of research on anorexia as well as the recent findings from studies done in Asia. Subsequently, the findings of the present research address what are young, Taiwanese adults' notions of the causality of AN. In particular, the present research found that student explanations of AN are focused predominantly on two causal forces; namely, the desire to be thin or the inability to eat as a result of psychosocial pressure arising from some interpersonal interactions. Additionally, Taiwanese students also maintain that AN can be explained by other less common factors. For instance, significantly more males than females believed that AN could be explained by some physiological dysfunction in the anorectic person. This study seeks to contribute to the literature by examining how college-age Taiwanese understand and conceptualize AN; which in turn may help towards understanding how other research conducted among Chinese populations has produced findings that are incongruent with the expectations suggested by the western, biomedical model of anorexia nervosa. There is further need for cross-cultural research on AN including lay understandings. This should focus not only on the "accurateness" of lay models as has been the case with the majority of research on lay models of AN in the past, but future research should consider the appropriateness of current research and public health models that influence both research and policy.

Lay opinions and knowledge of Dikgopheng Community about mental illness in Polokwane Municipality

Aphane, M. A. January 2015 (has links)
Thesis (M.Dev.) --University of Limpopo, 2015 / In preparation for the launch of the Flemish Interuniversity Council-Institutional Cooperation (VLIR-IUC) in 2010, the Development Facilitation and Training Institute (DevFTI), University of Limpopo, conducted a scoping exercise with community members in villages within Dikgale in the Limpopo Province. The purpose of the exercise was to identify both the assets within the community — as well as the challenges being experienced in the area. During discussions with leaders of the Community Based Organisations (CBOs) it became apparent that mental health related issues were an emerging issue of concern — with special emphasis placed on the levels of stigma that existed towards mental illness in the area. It is against this backdrop that the researcher was motivated to conduct a study with the aim of finding out the opinions and knowledge of the lay people about mental illness in Dikgopheng community, situated within the broader Dikgale area, in Polokwane Local Municipality in the Limpopo Province. The study used a quantitative descriptive survey research design in which participants answered questions administered through questionnaires. A random sampling strategy was used to secure a representative sample size of 249 respondents out of the total population of 700. IBM’s Statistical Package for Social Sciences for Windows (SPSS version 20) was used to analyse the descriptive statistics. Inconclusive results were found about formal knowledge of the psychosocial risk factors associated with the onset of mental illness. In contradistinction, patterns of cultural associations linked to the onset of mental illness were significant. Furthermore, an overwhelming majority of the community (75.1%) of the community members were found to have ‘stigmatisation’ opinions about people with mental illness. Due to the lack of the psychosocial knowledge about risk factors and the onset of mental illness, it is recommended (i) that there is a need for education and training to raise awareness about risk factors associated with the onset of mental illness and (ii) that further qualitative research be undertaken to explore issues relating to mental illness and stigma in more depth in the area that specifically focuses on ameliorative measures that address stigma that could be implemented within the community.
