Skanzeny - Reprezentace etnografie a historie v interakci s kulturním dědictvím / Open Air Museums: Representing Ethnography and History, Interacting with Heritage

Bernardot, Hélène January 2020 (has links)
TITLE Representing History and Ethnography, Interacting with Heritage Analysing Museological Practices at the Huron-Wendat Museum ABSTRACT This master thesis is an analysis of the current specific actions on representation and interaction taken in contemporary ethnographic museums. The aim is to highlight museology pathways used to represent local indigenous culture and to explore how the public is involved with and relates to these specific discourses on heritage. Special attention will be devoted to the study of the shift of museums from authoritative places of education to socially inclusive spaces. The mission of heritage professionals in terms of representation will be analysed, as well as their work on the notions of accessibility and involvement for and with the public. The Huron-Wendat Museum in Wendake, Québec, serves to investigate these museum practices. Drawing from thorough fieldwork and extensive secondary literature, this master thesis will further probe the prevailing notions of identity, continuity and unity of the new museology in a postcolonial context. K dějinám výroby léčiv a léčivých přípravků VI. Firma Zdeněk Klan a dílčí inventář specialit / History of Production of Drugs and Medical Preparations VI. Zdeněk Klan Company and the Partial Inventory of its Products

Fliegerová, Kristina January 2020 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with the history of the production of medicines and medicinal products, the company of Zdeněk Klan and a partial inventory of specialties. The aim of the thesis was to map the time, which was characterized by the industrial production of drugs and medicines, the so-called specialties. Zdeněk Klan was able to take advantage of the situation and build his own company Dr. Mr. Zdeněk F. Klan pharmaceutical-chemical laboratory, operating in the years 1924-1948. He was able to compete with other companies with his products. The production was focused mainly on application forms for internal medicine. In addition to human preparations, he also produced preparations for veterinary use. The Klan Company succumbed to the process of nationalization in 1948, when all companies with more than 50 employees were nationalized and subsequently abolished. On the basis of the study of mainly archival sources stored in the Czech Pharmaceutical Museum in Kuks, a thesis was prepared describing this company from its establishment to nationalization. His CV was also prepared. In addition to processing information about Klan's company, the task was to invent a part of the collection of specialties and thus make it available for subsequent museum-research use through the resulting inventory. Museum communication : learning, interaction and experience

Nielsen, Jane K. January 2014 (has links)
'Museum Communication: Learning, Interaction and Experience' is a study of how museums have evolved and handled their communication approaches at both theoretical and practical levels. It discusses questions like; how has museum communication developed? What influences do these developments have on museology and its related disciplines? How will museum communication develop in the future? These are questions closely connected with essential concepts of learning, interaction, participation and experience, which will be discussed throughout the thesis. Learning and exhibition theories will be considered alongside discussions of epistemological and philosophical approaches, interpretation, and social development of museological research. The research forms a discourse analysis of museums' own views and opinions of these issues through replies of a questionnaire. It also focuses on specific case studies and examples in order to combine theoretical definitions and empirical approaches with museological developments. To form a deeper understanding of how museological communication is developing, the research includes interviews with professionals of philosophy and storytelling as well. Finally, the approaches are summarised in a new museum model developed from future studies. This model, called 'The Transformative Museum', identifies essential points in which museums have developed their communication practices and theories, and discusses how these may develop in the future. As the responsibilities of museum curators develop, museums have to embrace the concepts of transformation and flexibility too. Inquiries, research, learning and participation have to be transformed into all kinds of experiences in order to respond to changing needs and flexible structures of communities and societies. The transformative museum will have to acknowledge past traditions, current trends and future opportunities simultaneously in order to become a museum of both present and future relevance for all kinds of visitors and users.

The Exhibitionary Complex : Exhibition, Apparatus, and Media from Kulturhuset to the Centre Pompidou, 1963–1977

West, Kim January 2017 (has links)
This dissertation traces the history of a diagram. The diagram shows four circles of gradually diminishing sizes, lodged one inside the other, like the layers of a circular or spherical body. For a group of artists, curators, architects, and activists centered around Moderna Museet in Stockholm between the mid-1960s and the mid-1970s, the diagram represented a new type of museum: a museological Information Center modeled on the computer, operating as a site for radically democratic social experiments. The four layers stood for different functions: information capture, processing, interface, storage; or, put differently: social spaces and media resources, workshop floors, exhibition facilities, collection. Through close readings of a series of exhibitions and institutional projects in Sweden, the US, and France, this dissertation follows the development of this diagram: its prehistory and formulation, its different implementations, and its direct and indirect effects. It studies Moderna Museet’s original, unrealized project for Kulturhuset in Stockholm, according to which the museum should project its dynamic energies across the city center, serving as a “catalyst for the active forces in society”. It discusses the museum’s confrontation with digital technologies in the late 1960s, through pioneering museological organizations such as the Museum Computer Network in New York. It analyzes the exhibition formats developed in correspondence with the notion of the museum as a “vast experimental laboratory” and a “broadcasting station”: the exhibition as critical information pattern, as tele-commune. And it studies the diagram’s afterlife as one of the models informing the Centre Pompidou in Paris, during that project’s early phases. The Exhibitionary Complex reads these endeavors and visions as attempts to devise a critical understanding of the exhibitionary apparatus in relation to new information environments and media systems. It sheds light on a largely forgotten aspect of the exhibitionary, museological, and cultural history of the late twentieth century, in Sweden and internationally. But it also seeks to establish new models for grasping the exhibition’s singularity and potentials as a cultural and media technological form, in relation to the emergence of new information networks, as they exert increasing control over social, cultural, and political existence. / Space, Power, Ideology

Musealização de territórios e turismo de base comunitária: reflexões sobre a comunicação e a salvaguarda do patrimônio da Reserva Extrativista do Mandira, Cananéia/SP / Musealization of territories and community-based tourism: reflections about the communication and safeguard of the heritage of the Extractive Reserve of Mandira, in Cananeia, SP, Brazil

Guerra, Marília Falcone 13 September 2016 (has links)
In the present study, we seek to understand the contributions of Museology for community-based tourism initiatives carried out in Brazilian Extractive Reserves (Resex), our goal being to promote knowledge and valorization of the heritage (and territory-heritage) of the traditional populations who live in these areas, thus collaborating for the implementation of this category of Conservation Unit (UC). In this process, our discussion widens to encompass a reflection about Resex as potential museums (more specifically, eco-museums) and as a setting for the museal fact. We use as a study case the community-based tourism experience conducted since 2004 by the Quilombola Community of Mandira, which is the beneficiary of the Mandira Resex, in the municipality of Cananéia, state of São Paulo. Our methods involve field and theoretical research. The study builds on the works of authors and theoretical background of Human Sciences -- particularly Anthropology and Museology -- and Natural Sciences; on the analysis of heritage lists coordinated by the Socioenvironmental Institute (ISA) and the Institute of Lands of São Paulo (Itesp); on an evaluation of the process of communication of heritage references; and on semi-structured interviews with members of the Mandira community, government agency officials, and members of NGOs.

Organizações Sociais de Cultura: um modelo de gestão sob o ponto de vista da Museologia. Um estudo de caso do Memorial da Resistência de São Paulo / Cultural Social Organizations: a management model seen from the perspective of Museology. A case study of the Memorial da Resistência de São Paulo [Sao Paulo Resistance Memorial]

Corazza, Bianca 04 August 2017 (has links)
From 2005 on, public museums in the State of Sao Paulo started being managed through the Cultural Social Organization Management Model, after the signature of the first Management Agreements between the Social Organizations and the Sao Paulo State Secretary of Culture. Although this management model is controversial, it has been undoubtedly beneficial since it brought advantages, agility and greater transparency to public administration, as well as for the museums and their audiences. None the less, this model finds an interesting space in which qualified museum management is being widely discussed and ever more pressing for museums. This dissertation aims to study and discuss how the Social Organization Management Model was established and structured in the museum field, relating to the museological working chain already in place in museums. For this, will use as a case study the Memorial da Resistência de São Paulo [Sao Paulo Resistance Memorial]. Considering that the museum area has its own dynamics and particularities, and based on the discussions about the integral museum and its social role, which are related to the Memorial da Resistência de São Paulo [Sao Paulo Resistance Memorial] institutional profile, this work intends to put into context the Social Organization Management Model, which has occupied a major role in public administration, but has not yet being studied from a museological perspective.

A formação do Museu Republicano Convenção de Itu (1921-1946) / The establishment of the Museu Republicano Convenção de Itu (1921-1946)

Martins, Mariana Esteves 16 March 2012 (has links)
This dissertation was written as part of the Social History Post-Graduate Program at Universidade de São Paulo (USP), as well as of the Material Culture History Research Program of the Museu Paulista/USP, in the research line: History of Museums and Exhibitions. Its object refers to the establishment of the Museu Republicano Convenção de Itu, which is a branch of the Museu Paulista in the interior of São Paulo State (the first museum in the country dedicated to the Republic), and an emblematic project developed by some of the \"historical republicans\", the ones who were at the head of the Brazilian government in the First Republic. Its chronological scope ranges from the moment before the museum opening in 1923 until the end of the management of Affonso de Taunay, its first Director, in 1946. History museums have been the object of reflections by many authors from different perspectives. The contribution that we hope we may offer to such topic is developed not from the perspective of Political History, but is based on Material Culture and Museology, i.e., on the investigation of the museum´s collection and exhibition.
