Diversification of Hospital-A case study of Hospital J

Liou, Wen-Chin 23 August 2005 (has links)
The troublesome Taiwan medical care system is at the brim of bankruptcy. The system was forced to control the growth of its pay to hospital, thus jeopardize the industry. Hospitals have to formulate strategies to respond to the environment changes, and to reshape themselves to be a ¡§future hospital¡¨. This dissertation is about the way for hospital management through diversification. Hospitals which I interviewed have positive attitudes to diversification, they think that it provide synergic effect for their business. Among the cases that I studied, diversification are made based on the hospital¡¦s core competences and always related to health care or medicine. Companies are always changing their business model to survive, learning more to reinforce their core competence, extending their competitive advantages to emerging industries, and so must the hospitals do. A SWOT analysis based on hospital J has been made, followed by feasibility study on the following questions: What are our advantages compared to competitors? What resources do we need for diversification? What resources can hospital J provide? Dose diversification generate synergic effects or decrease the hospital¡¦s value? What can we learn through diversification? The candidate businesses that I proposed for diversification are highly related to hospital J¡¦s core business and can be conducted by its existing human resources.A future core business is likely to be created through the extension of existing competitive advantages. Diversification by extension of related core business can be done through joint-venture, strategic alliance or synergistically merging. Diversification to less core business related area are arranged by co-operation with non-hospital company or recruiting new employee who have experience in the new field. There must be evaluation prior to diversification, hospitals diversify their businesses with different competitive advantages have different scenario. I hope that this dissertation can be a valuable reference to hospitals those have already made their diversification and those are under their way for diversifying their businesses.

Marketing analysis for future strategic plan

Mousarezaei, Mahsa January 2016 (has links)
Today’s climate issues such as increasing temperatures and extreme change in weather pattern are one of the greatest threats. Therefore there is a united agreement that something needs to be done for reducing the causes of global warming and climate change. Businesses have accepted the fact that they need to take some actions so that they can help, although still some think that environmental solutions are time consuming and costly. (Shah, 2015) Realizing the climate issues and the fact that greenhouse gases remain in the atmosphere for a long time, Sweden started an environmental protection agency in 1967. Since then Sweden has a strong reputation as one of leaders and environmental pioneer worldwide. The government provides various opportunities for environmentally friendly technologies developments within the country and abroad. (Sweden.se, 2016) The case company is one of high technology Swedish companies that are trying to provide air treatment solutions for industries. They mostly work within food frying factories, waste handling and biogas industries. Their solution is highly beneficial technologically as it reduce industrial pollution as well as transferring the heat and purified water from the recovery process back to the system. Consequently they help companies to save costs through low energy consumption and to be environmentally friendly. However, due to economical globalization and other competitors, especially in Sweden, their high technology is not a guarantee for financial and competitive advantages. Marketing strategy and strategic marketing plan is the necessity for their success in the market within Sweden and internationally. This paper is the fundamental base in strategic planning of marketing by analyzing the current situation of company in the market through SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threat) analysis. Through SWOT analysis I have highlighted the strength points which the case company needs to focus on when introducing their product to customers and compete with the competitors. On the other hand the weaknesses were also analyzed and I have came up with a few suggestions that might help in this case in order to take advantage from their opportunities to improve weaknesses. The result of SWOT analysis clear that their products have a great opportunity in the market due to the high technology they have and they need to have better marketing strategy to introduce their technology and capability to the market.

Pan, Khang Aun January 2001 (has links)
This thesis attempts to explore and analyses environmental training (ET) in Malaysia, Singapore and the United Kingdom. It discusses the relationships of ET with environmental education, human resource development, learning, training and strategic planning. The main goal of the research was to assess which were the most commonly used ET protocols or 'best practices' that can be used and adapted in a variety of organisations. The research was based on a detailed literature survey and drew on the results from a postal questionnaire survey of 94 different organisations of varying size, age and having a variety of quality accreditations. The respondents were mostly from the 36-45 age group, males, first degree holders, specialised in business administration, middle managers and had spent 1-5 years in their organisation. A total of 28 variables were analysed using Chi-Square and Spearman Correlation and are discussed in the text. The 'best practices' of ET in organisations surveyed were identified as: those possessing environmental policies and training policies; conducting training needs assessments using a combination of methods such as discrepancy, democratic, diagnostic and analytic; including ET in their human resource development plan; delivering ET by external consultants and involving trainees in their environmental management system. In addition, these organisations delivered at least 1-5 ET courses per year, used in house courses and lectures, conducted ET evaluations and are committed to ET in the near future. From the 'best practices' identified by the research and face to face interviews with the staff of the Department of Wildlife and National Parks, Peninsular Malaysia, a SWOT analysis, Objective Oriented Project Planning and a Logical Framework (LOGFRAME) were used to formulate a strategic human resource development plan for the Department.
