[en] RUP-3C-GROUPWARE: GROUPWARE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS BASED ON THE 3C COLLABORATION MODEL / [pt] RUP-3C-GROUPWARE: UM PROCESSO DE DESENVOLVIMENTO DE GROUPWARE BASEADO NO MODELO 3C DE COLABORAÇÃO

MARIANO GOMES PIMENTEL 16 October 2006 (has links)
[en] A groupware (group work support software) development process is proposed in this thesis. This process is the result of eight years of experience with the development of services for the AulaNet environment, and more specifically of five years researching and developing Mediated Chat tool versions. The good practices learned through these activities were incorporated into the process proposed: the use of the 3C Collaboration Model to guide groupware development, evolutionary development focusing on a single problem per version in an investigative process, and reuse-oriented component- based development. These practices were used to guide the specification of the RUP, Rational Unified Process, resulting in the new process, namely the RUP-3C- Groupware. The new or extended RUP-3C-Groupware workflows and artifacts are presented. This process was investigated through a case-study in which Software Engineering students performed certain activities producing a few key- artifacts. From this case-study some indications regarding process repetitiveness and its suitability to groupware development were obtained.

[en] NETSPEAK: DESCRIPTION AND USES / [pt] O INTERNETÊS: DESCRIÇÃO E USOS

TIAGO DA SILVA RIBEIRO 26 August 2011 (has links)
[en] Interpersonal relationships are more than ever virtual. E-mails, chats, discussion lists, Twitter, and other communication tools are expanding their use, both in professional environments and in personal life. On account of the virtual revolution, a lot has been said about the language of the Internet, but little effort is made to describe and use it as a source of studies on the current Portuguese language. We believe that the understanding of the structure of the netspeak is useful for several research areas, such as the Corpus Linguistics. Based on this assumption, this paper aims at describing the synthesis processes found on Internet texts in order to prove that there are rules on the formation of abbreviations and other words that are typical of this new form of expression. We found, through quantitative research, patterns of the netspeak, which proves that this language is not configured as an anarchic deviation of cultivated language. These patterns reflect the phonetic and syllabic structure of the Portuguese language rather systematically, showing the speakers implicit knowledge of the grammar and its eagerness to follow the principles of communicability. We also found qualitative and quantitative differences in the use of abbreviation according to the textual gender in which they appear. We believe that the understanding of the processes of the language used on the internet is important for the teaching of writing as well as its formal description can provide answers to criticisms against this form of communicating, which coming from both teachers and students. So, at the end of this thesis, we suggest some tasks that make better use of the increasing activity of reading and writing provided by the boom in online communications, in order to achieve more sophisticated levels of literacy. Rather than describing the abbreviations used on the Internet without suggesting how to deal with them, we try to provide a new perspective to scholars from various fields that deal with the Internet language, as well as to teachers and students who have a wrong view about this language.

[en] CODE-SWITCHING IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF INTERCOMPREHENSION: INTERACTIONS IN PLURILINGUAL CHATS ON THE GALANET PROJECT / [pt] O CODE-SWITCHING NA PERSPECTIVA DA INTERCOMPREENSÃO: INTERAÇÕES EM CHAT PLURILÍNGUE NO PROJETO GALANET

ANA PAULA DESLANDES DE ALMEIDA MOUTINHO 22 October 2013 (has links)
[en] This study is about the occurrence of code-switching, language alternation, in intercomprehension, a plurilingual context. In this approach for the learning/teaching of languages, predominantly from the same family, the learners communicate mainly in their native language and develop skills in understanding the other languages involved and in making themselves understood. In foreign language teaching, the phenomenon of language alternation is still often regarded as interference of the learners mother tongue, although there is a growing tendency to accept it as a pedagogical tool. The aim of this research is to investigate the importance of code-switching for intercomprehension, in the socio-pragmatic and pedagogical perspectives. Theoretical-analytical parameters were established from the main functional typologies created by researchers in the socio-pragmatic and pedagogical studies of code-switching, from the conversational approaches by Peter Auer and from Ethnomethodological Conversation Analysis. The analysis of interactions between participants of the Galanet online platform, a Romance languages intercomprehension project, is carried out to examine how code-switching appears in the project, how it can contribute to the linguistic and cultural exchange, and how it can be used in a teaching/learning proposal. This study intends to contribute to the research in plurilingualism and intercomprehension, which currently focuses on teacher training, curricular insertion, the improvement of ongoing projects and the development of new projects.
