[pt] ADMINISTRAÇÃO DE RISCOS CAMBIAIS: UM ESTUDO DE CASO ATRAVÉS DA APLICAÇÃO DO MODELO COPELAND E COPELAND (1999) EM EMPRESAS EXPORTADORAS / [en] MANAGING FOREIGN EXCHANCE RISKS: A CASE STUDY APPLYING COPELAND AND COPELAND MODEL (1999) FOR EXPORT COMPANIESDANIEL DE ARAUJO GONÇALVES 12 March 2015 (has links)
[pt] A globalização mudou a forma como as empresas fazem negócio.
[en] Globalization has changed the way companies do business. It took
investments, consumer markets, imports and exports of goods and services from a
local to a global scale. With this, companies began to deal with foreign exchange
risk - currency fluctuations. Financial instruments were created to reduce variance
in the cash flow, although this is not the only aspect to consider when companies
decide to adopt a foreign exchange hedge. The purpose of this study is to carry out
a sensitivity analysis of the probability of export company s cash in flow and out
flow curves meeting, using the Copeland and Copeland (1999) model, before and
after contracting a hedge. With the results, it is possible to measure the benefits
(or otherwise) of contracting these instruments by means of reducing or increasing
the probability of financial difficulties occurring in both cases.

[en] SETTLEMENT PRICE OF DIFFERENCES SWAP: THE CASE OF WIND-PARKS / [pt] SWAP DE PREÇOS DE LIQUIDAÇÃO DA DIFERENÇA: O CASO DE PARQUES EÓLICOSESLEY RODRIGUES DE JESUS 07 July 2016 (has links)
[en] The panorama of the energy market in Brazil allows energy producers to make swap operations with prices, decreasing the intrinsic risks of operation, besides ensuring, occasionally, better profits. Due to the difference between the demands of the various energy submarkets, they may arbitrage the prices to minimize their losses. With the objective to find better ways to make this swap, and working on two thousand series of the settlement price of differences, from the years of 2016, 2017 and 2018, it was possible to analyze the magnitude of the risks, considering the hedge. Despite the results, the Brazilian energy infrastructure is highly dependent on rainfall patterns, showing clear weakness in drought periods. A higher investment in the sustainable energy sector, is necessary in or-der to ensure a more continuous supply, taking into account the experience of other countries.

[en] INNOVATIVE DECISION MODELS FOR ENERGY COMMERCIALIZATION / [pt] MODELOS DE DECISÃO INOVADORES PARA COMERCIALIZAÇÃO DE ENERGIAJONAS CALDARA PELAJO 13 August 2024 (has links)
otimização de processos relevantes do setor, considerando o cenário atual. O
[en] In the last decade, the Brazilian electricity sector has faced regulatory and
operational challenges due to the need to adapt to changes in the energy matrix,
which shows a growing share of intermittent renewable energies, such as solar
photovoltaic and wind energy. Additionally, social and environmental restrictions
on the construction of new hydroelectric reservoirs require the development of new
models for hydrological risk management. This thesis comprises four studies and
aims to develop decision support models that contribute to the management of the
national interconnected system and the optimization of relevant processes in the
sector, considering the current scenario. The first study, by defining a methodology
for accessing the parameters of the ECP_G functional, contributes to the innovation
and improvement of theoretical models, with practical results for the sector. The
second study contributes to the process of seasonalizing the physical guarantee and
reveals an optimal strategy that simultaneously maximizes the results of generating
agents, preventing reductions in payoffs resulting from individual movements of
competitors. The third study proposes a commercialization portfolio optimization
model, which allows agents to adequately expose themselves to risk, contributing
to more efficient commercial management. Finally, the fourth study presents an
operational model for an energy futures clearing house, offering valuable insights
for stakeholders interested in establishing such a project in Brazil, where no energy
futures clearing house currently exists.
