Mírumilovnost skrze misku čaje: Cesta čaje jako médium transformace / Peacefulness Through a Bowl of Tea: The Way of Tea as a Medium of Transformation

Komberec Novosadová, Barbora January 2015 (has links)
The Japanese way of tea has been explored with scientific rigor through the fields of anthropology, aesthetics, philosophy, religion, semiotics, and other academic disciplines. This thesis will examine the phenomenon of the "bowl of tea" (considered here as the axis mundi of a tea gathering) on three levels: as a gift, as the basis for the foundation of responsible and considerate relationships in the community, and as a medium of transformation into peacefulness. First, it will explore the nature of the gift in different social practices of exchange in general and in the way of tea in particular. Second, it will present research connecting the gift and the process of giving as a mode of hospitality in the tea gathering. Third, it will assess, through concepts of spatial semiotics, the transformative nature of the way of tea. It will conclude with a statement as to the potential of the way of tea experience to transform human experience and behaviour to others via the phenomenon of gift. Key words Japanese way of tea, Gift, Hospitality, Peacefulness, Transformation, Medium, Semiotics

The body of a perpetrator as source of physical evidence in rape : a case study in Bahir Dar/Amhara Region/Ethiopia

Bayih, Adane Genetu 10 1900 (has links)
The aim of this research is to determine what physical evidence can be found on the body of the perpetrator to link the suspect with the crime of rape. Regarding this, the researcher was trying to introduce a number of important concepts such as forensic investigation, chain of custody, evidence, information, identification, individualization, crime scene and the Locard Principle. This research will explain the meaning of forensic investigation, the objective of criminal investigation, the difference between information and evidence and individualization and identification. An important principle which all investigators and prosecutors should know is the Locard Principle. It says: "Every contact leaves a trace". The principle further explains that, whenever two objects come into contact with one another, material from the first would be transferred to the second and material from the second would be transferred to the first. Although this principle is important for investigators as well as prosecutors, most of them do not know the principle. The other important thing is the consideration of the body of the perpetrator as a crime scene to prove a crime. A crime scene is defined as an area where a criminal act has taken place. If we get evidence from the body of the perpetrator, we can then consider it as a crime scene. Lastly, regarding the legal rights to collect evidence on the body of the perpetrator, there should be specific laws in Ethiopia. However, there is no specific law. In addition to this, there is no DNA investigation in Ethiopia. Hence, this research will enhance the skills of investigators and prosecutors will benefit from what I have discovered through the research and I am very pleased to be the first Ethiopian in the introduction of the field of forensic investigation to the readers. / Forensic Investigations / M. Automatiserad mönsterigenkänning av stenmurar

Bergström, Adam, Larsson, David January 2019 (has links)
Automated pattern recognition of stone walls, within both point cloud and image processing, can help identify previously inaccessible areas than with only image pro-cessing. This is important as stone walls are biotopes and serve as structures and have ecological functions for both plants and animals. An automated pattern recog-nition can also benefit Sweden with the fulfillment of the national environmental quality objectives, as well as several commitments from the EU which promote the preservation of biological diversity and cultural heritage. However, conventional airborne laser scanners, via airplanes, have not had a sufficiently high point density and penetration of dense forests. This study therefore aims to use an improved tech-nology in Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR), where data is collected from Sin-gle Photon LiDAR (SPL). Then, the automated pattern recognition will be used to discover stone walls in varied terrain. After the evaluation, two out of five stone walls were identified, one of which had rendered 99.99% of the target area and the other had a 75% target area, although both also displayed one false hit outside of the desired area. The remaining missing area, as well as the other stone walls, could not be identified because of nearby fac-tors such as shrubbery and trees, but even though the method selection for this study did not provide a 100% match on all stone walls, the data from the SPL tech-nology is still useful for pattern recognition with its point density and penetration. The conclusion of this work is that a point cloud filtering must be improved, if not adapted for each area of stone walls, to create better areas of interest before image processing of segmentation and pattern recognition can be implemented. However, the study shows that a combination of point cloud and image processing for auto-matic pattern recognition is a useful way of identifying stone walls.

“The government is watching – don’t step on their toes” : An investigation of the press freedom and the working conditions for journalists in Tanzania / "Regeringen håller ögonen på - kliva inte på deras tår" - En undersökning av pressfrihet och arbetsvillkor för tanzaniska journalister i Dar es Salaam.

Backlund, Benjamin January 2019 (has links)
According to reports from Reporters sans frontiers and Freedom House, the freedom of the press has declined during the recent years in the sub-Saharan country Tanzania. Using the human rights reports as an entry point, this study set out to investigate the working conditions for journalists in the capital de facto of Tanzania, Dar es Salaam. An important aim was to dig deeper and show the local and culturally specific conditions. The study supports that the press freedom, as well as the working conditions have declined during the last years for the journalists in Dar es Salaam. However, the study also shows that the new laws and government measures, described by the human rights reports as reducing the press freedom, is not considered by every journalist to be negative. The challenges differ among the corps of journalists, as their values of journalism differs. The greatest denominator among the informants was the high-degree of journalistic interventionism, directed at helping the society. In some cases, this took form as a practice of development journalism. The strong connections to the local community, the country and the religious affiliations are thought to contribute to these values. For journalists in private media, the press freedom was found to be the most acute problem, while for journalists in state-owned media it was economic issues. The press freedom was connected to the perceived job autonomy, and senior journalists and journalists working for international media were found to be more autonomous. Self-censorship was used by many in the private media sector as a tool to avoid both bureaucratic harassment from government, as well as violent repercussions. The main challenges included new restricting laws, economic issues which lead to the practice of brown envelopes, the parliament being located in Dodoma, gender-issues, scared sources and the advancement of social media. Theories and earlier research evolving from the values of journalism and journalism in Africa were used as tools to understand and compare with. The results are based on fieldwork conducted during a period of two months in the beginning of 2019, with qualitative interviews held with journalists in the city of Dar es Salaam.

Medrano, Jorge Arturo Villena 23 April 2007 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to analyze forms and relations of integrated organizational communication into the Economy of Communion perspective, in a Brazilian organization. The Economy of Communion (EoC) consists into a socio-economic project that had birth from the experience of Focolare Movement, a civil and ecclesiastic movement. Nowadays, EoC is dispersing around 40 countries, involving almost 800 companies. The organizational communication integrated in the Economy of Communion context presents peculiar characteristics. Analyzing the communications forms and relations developed in practice allow us to realize the importance of this new way of acting in the social and economic field. Adopting the phenomenological method and case study we entered the organization reality using this philosophy to find, in practice, what is presented in the ideological conception of this proposal. This study involves concepts not much adopted in the academy, such as Culture of Giving, new man and others, that when deeply searched reveal us a communicational praxis based on sharing.

Sánchez, Tomas Guzmán January 2013 (has links)
This discertation has its focus on the empiric interest of the search and the construction of the solidary relationships that were built as a result of the Agênda Colômbia-Brasil constitution. This text inquires the way in which due to the narratives related with social and political conflicto in Colombia discussions about solidary relationships between different political contexts. This work tries to stablish how emotional actions lead to solidary potical process which knotted in the same time experiences on brazilian militans and migrants of differetn political parties and political movements. In the same way this work claims for the emergency escenarios of this type of political organization and its positioning on a transnational political space. This work understands that this positioning occurs from stablishing a conceptual framework of enunciation based on the practice “give out” a determines context of the conflicto. Investigates in the memory and what it enunciates about the social and political conflicto in Colombia from an space as brazilian is.
