研發網絡、信任關係與廠商績效 / The effect of trust on firm performance in r&d network

面臨產業全球化的時代,產品製造過程因專業化分工而逐漸形成緊密連結。而以研發創新為主要目的所建構的產業連結,稱之為研發網絡。大量的技術知識流於研發網絡內產生,成員彼此間分攤重大創新技術的開發成本和風險,同時有助於提高成員的學習能力。然而,於此知識技術交流互動與資源共享基礎上,隱含著技術機密外洩與資訊盜用風險。此時,廠商間信任的建立可降低研發不確定性,防止夥伴的投機行為,進而增進研發合作的機會。故與合作夥伴的信任關係是影響研發網絡運作與廠商績效的重要因素。 據此,本研究以生物技術產業為例,探討生技研發網絡內廠商間信任建立與廠商績效之影響關係,藉以了解生技產業中信任所扮演的重要角色。本研究以研發合作之問卷設計,對台灣地區的生技廠商作問卷調查,並以因素分析與結構方程模式作為資料分析方法。實證結果得知,生技廠商的研發合作乃需透過信任建立方能正面影響廠商績效。 / Facing an era of globalization of industry, the product manufacturing process gradually formed tight links between firms due to specialization .And the industry links based on R&D and innovation as the main purpose are known as R&D network. Great deal of technical knowledge flows in R&D network, and a major share among the members is the costs and risks of innovative technology development, while helping to improve the members on learning. However, these knowledge exchange and resource sharing are based on technical confidential information leakage and misappropriation hazards. At this point, the establishment of trust between firms can reduce high uncertainty of R&D, and prevent partners from doing opportunistic behavior, thereby enhancing R&D cooperation between firms. Therefore, the trust among the partners is an important factor of the impact of R&D network and firm performance. Accordingly, the study takes the biotechnology industry for example, and the purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship of trust and firm performance among R&D cooperation in biotechnology R&D network, and explore that trust plays an important role in biotechnology. In research method, the questionnaire was designed for R&D cooperation between biotechnology firms in Taiwan for survey. Both factor analysis and structural equation modeling were used to analyze for the study. Empirical results show that the R&D cooperation of biotechnology firms should be established through the trust to effect the firm performance positively. 廠商內外部因素對創新績效影響之研究 / The effect of firms' internal and external factors on innovation performance

創新是廠商生存於快速全球化及競爭激烈的環境中的關鍵。而廠商創新績效的影響因素可以分為外部因素與內部因素進行探討。就外部因素而言,本研究同時從經濟地理學門的區域聚集效果與社會學門的研發網絡關係探討外部環境對廠商創新績效的影響。並探討地區產業聚集現象是否會增加區域內廠商形成研發網絡的可能性。而除了廠商外部環境會影響廠商創新績效外,管理學門提出廠商的內部吸收能力也同樣重要。吸收能力定義為廠商對外部知識的認識、吸收和應用的能力。吸收能力除了會對創新績效產生直接影響之外,也會對由網絡中所獲得的外部知識的認知、吸收和利用產生調節效果。 本研究以台灣的ICT產業為研究對象,而空間單位劃分則依據工業區分布情形與天然及人為界線分佈,將台灣劃分為39個空間分析單元,以供實證分析所需。研究結果發現,廠商所處地區之聚集效果確實會對廠商研發網絡的形成產生影響,進而影響廠商所能吸收的外部知識流的多寡,最終造成不同區域的廠商創新績效的不同。廠商的研發網絡會隨群聚內的社會經濟狀況、產業組成和多樣性等不同而有所不同。此外,本研究同時從廠商外部環境的聚集效果、研發網絡關係以及廠商內部的吸收能力探討對廠商創新績效的影響,以期更全面地了解創新績效的影響因素。本研究的實證結果證實了聚集效果、研發網絡與廠商內部吸收能力確實對廠商創新績效產生影響,而內部吸收能力確實會對經由研發網絡所獲取的外部知識和創新績效產生調節效果。 / Innovation is the key of the firm to survive in a rapidly globalizing and competitive environment. The factors affecting firms’ innovation performance can be divided into external and internal factor. For the external factors, this studies use the view of regional agglomeration effects and R&D networks to study the impact of external environment on innovation performance. In the same time, we also discuss whether the regional agglomeration effects affect the firms’ R&D networks. Aside from the external environment, the internal absorption capacity is also important for innovation performance. Absorption capacity is defined as the capacity of firm to recognize, absorb and apply external knowledge. Absorption capacity has not only direct impact on innovation, but also adjusted effects between the knowledge acquired from R&D networks and innovation performance. The object of this study is the ICT industry in Taiwan, and Taiwan was divided into 39 spatial units for empirical analysis. The empirical results indicate that the regional agglomeration effects of firms indeed influence the firms’ R&D network ,and then affect the amount of the external knowledge that the firm can absorb, ultimately result in different innovation performance. Firms’ R&D networks will vary depends on the cluster’s socio-economic conditions, industry composition and diversity. Besides, this study also discusses the impact factor of firms’ innovation performance from the external agglomeration effects, R&D networks, and internal absorption capacity to have a more comprehensive understanding of the relationship between those factors and the innovation performance. The empirical results indicate that agglomeration effects, R&D networks, absorption capacity do affect the firms’ innovation performance, and the internal absorption capacity do have adjusted effects between the knowledge acquired from R&D networks and innovation performance.

跨國研發區位選擇與研發網絡治理之研究-以海峽兩岸台商為例 / A study of transnational R&D location choice and R&D network governance: Examples for Taiwan’s manufacturing industry across Taiwan strait

本研究以區域創新系統觀點,分析在兩岸區位優勢差異下,影響台灣製造業廠商兩岸研發區位選擇及廠商研發網絡治理情形,強化既往研究未同時關注台商、兩岸地區及偏重個案研究的不足之處;經實證結果發現,區位優勢、研發部門類型、市場規模、政策條件、產業群聚、知識流通及研發經費投入等變數為台商兩岸研發區位佈點的影響變數,除了市場規模及市場型研發部門與研發區位選擇呈現負向關係外,其他皆與區位選擇呈現正向關係,顯示除因台灣市場規模太小造成台商選擇至對岸設立研發部門外,台灣在其他表現上皆較對岸具有吸引力,台灣仍具有不可忽視的區域創新能量,建議政府部門應在產業政策上有新作為,提供廠商各項研發所需要的協助,以吸引更多本土企業於台灣設立研發部門,以不斷累積及提升台灣的研發競爭力。 區域創新系統強調區域內行動者的網絡連結及互動,形塑該地區無可取代的區域特色,為彌補研發區位選擇的量化研究,無法表達出區域創新系統內廠商在地化網絡連結及互動的情況,本研究在研發網絡治理部分以華碩企業集團為研究對象,探討其如何運用本身及當地資源,建立在地化網絡及維持網絡關係運作等網絡治理議題,經研究結果發現,由於華碩企業集團具有豐富的研發經驗、高水準的研發人員及雄厚的資金,扮演在地化網絡主要行動者的角色,掌握與其他行動者(例如政府部門、研究機構、大專院校及其他廠商等)間關係建立的主導權,在研發技術的傳遞上係以公司內部的垂直組織網絡為主要傳遞路徑,與區域創新系統內各行動者的網絡關係及在地鑲嵌程度不強。 / With the viewpoint of regional innovation system, this paper analyzes the impacts of R&D locational choices and enterporises’ R&D network governance that manufacturing firms in Taiwan have under the differentiation of locational advantages between China and Taiwan as well as consolidates some points which are incompletely focused in the past on Taiwanese firms, two sides of Taiwan Strait, and overweighing case-studies. The empirical evidences bring that the impacts of variable to locational distribution of Taiwanese manufacturing firms across the strait are many: locational advantages, the types of R&D unit, the scales of market, policy conditions, industrial clusters, knowledge flows and R&D investment. Except for the negative correlations between the scale of market/type of R&D unit and R&D locational choices, the rest variables have the positive correlation with R&D locational choices, which means that, barring that the scale of market in Taiwan is so small that Taiwanese firms choose to institute R&D spots in China, other variables in Taiwan are more attractive than those in China; Taiwan possesses innegligible energy of regional creativity. The suggestion is that the government has to take new actions on industrial policy, providing the assistance to R&D that enterprises need, in order to attract more and more local enterprises to set up their R&D functions in Taiwan for accumulating and advancing Taiwan’s competitive power continuously. Regional innovation system emphasizes on actors’ network linkages and interactions within one region, shaping irreplaceable regional characteristics for that region in order to atone for the quantitative research of R&D locational choices which cannot express the situation of enterprises’ localized network linkages and interactions within regional innovation system. Taking ASUS as example, this research, in terms of network governance, confers how ASUS draws on own and local resources for network governance issues like establishing localized networks and maintaining the operation of network relations. After the analysis, it is found that, on account of ASUS with abundant R&D experiences, high-level R&D staffs and tremendous funds, ASUS plays the role as key actor in the localized network, controlling the predominant power established by relations between other actors (i.e. public sectors, research institutes, colleges/universities, other enterprises and so on). In terms of R&D technology transfer, vertical networks in the inner company as main transfer passage is less attached with every actor’s network relation and its local embeddedness within regional innovation system.
