Tesis para optar al grado de Doctor en Estudios Latinoamericanos / La tesis “Modos de representación e inserción de las artes visuales latinoamericanas: la crítica de arte y la curadoría (1960-2000)” desarrolla una reflexión teórica sobre las condiciones de surgimiento y configuración del concepto arte latinoamericano en la historia del arte de América Latina. La investigación está planteada a través del establecimiento de los modos de representación e inserción que son posibles de encontrar en los discursos de la crítica de artes y la curadoría en el período señalado, a partir de claves interpretativas sobre la historia latinoamericana y la del arte, que permiten establecer diferentes magnitudes y significados que el concepto arte latinoamericano presenta en su configuración histórica desde América Latina.

Robert S. McNamara served as U.S. Secretary of Defense (SOD) for Presidents John Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson. McNamara participated in the Cuban Missile Crisis negotiations in 1961 and became a key formulator of Vietnam policy. This thesis challenges scholarship that characterizes McNamara as a fierce hawk who relentlessly executed military escalation in Vietnam. By drawing parallels between McNamara’s role in the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War, and by exploring how McNamara’s concept of loyalty to the presidency influenced his decisions, this thesis argues that the SOD was willing to escalate the situation militarily as a form of political communication with the adversary. To McNamara, military pressure was a means to create avenues for diplomacy. McNamara became increasingly uncomfortable – and ultimately resigned in 1968 - when the Johnson administration pursued military escalation without an organized campaign towards negotiations. The purpose of this study is to illustrate the power image of Henry James's female protagonists through a Readers Theatre adaptation of his novels, Daisy Miller, The Wings of the Dove, and The Portrait of a Lady. Chapter I includes an introduction and defines the purpose of the thesis. Chapter II briefly examines biographical information on James. Chapter III includes the analysis of the three selected novels in relation to preparation of a performance based script for Readers Theatre. In the Appendix is the Readers Theatre script with the inclusive transition and introductory material. The illustration of a typical Jamesian woman reveals a philosophic view of the human possibilities in freedom, power, and the destructive elements that limit an independent spirit.

La personalidad se ha convertido en una de las materias de investigación más interesantes de estudiar en psicología, la popularidad de este constructo se debe a las diversas teorías e hipótesis que han intentado explicar los patrones de conductas y las formas de actuar de las personas; es por eso que, la presente revisión teórica tuvo como objetivo identificar las bases teóricas que sustentan la teoría de personalidad de Hans Eysenck, ya que esta, es uno de los modelos más sólidos y científicos en la actualidad. Para lograr este objetivo, se identificaron las definiciones propuestas por Hans Eysenck, así como, los elementos de su teoría de personalidad, las diversas adaptaciones de sus instrumentos psicológicos y las alteraciones mentales identificadas por las dimensiones de su modelo. El diseño de este estudio de investigación fue no experimental y de tipo teórico, examinándose diversos artículos de idioma español e inglés publicados entre los años 2022 hasta 2012 en repositorios académicos como Scielo, Dialnet, Redalyc, ProQuest y Scopus, con las palabras clave “Psicología”, “Personalidad”, “Hans Eysenck” y “Modelo psicobiológico”. Se encontró que la teoría de Hans Eysenck ha recibido diversas influencias a lo largo de su desarrollo por parte de otros postulados y modelos, como la teoría de los humores, la teoría temperamental, la psiquiatría alemana y las dimensiones de Carl Jung, gracias a estos paradigmas la teoría psicobiológica de Hans Eysenck se ha convertido en una de las más importantes en la psicología de la personalidad.

William McLachlan, a Scotsman, was converted to the L. D. S. Church, in Braintree, Essex, England in 1859. The motivating factor in his life was his faith that Joseph Smith was a prophet to whom the Lord had restored the precepts of the original Christian church. His journals, his letters, his speeches, his life, were oriented toward one ultimate goal, to build the Kingdom of God and to gain a place for himself and his family in that kingdom.This thesis is a biography of his life and examines his emigration to Zion, his settlement and adjustment to the frontier, his occupation as a carpenter and contractor, his mission to New Zealand, his adjustment to polygamy and the period of the "Raid," and his leadership as the president of the Pioneer Stake. His life represents the thousands of British converts who, through faith and devotion to the Gospel, left their homes and struggled to lay the foundation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on the western frontier.

Syftet är att undersöka hur och vad scenografin berättar. Detta utförs utifrån narratologiska teorier och med metoder hämtade från konstvetenskapen, formal- och kontextanalys. Överlag kan man konstatera att naturens scenografi i båda filmer dels är mindre teatralisk och mer dynamisk än interiörerna, men också bidrar mer till filmernas narrativ, påverkar fabulan, förmedlar karaktärsdrag och understryker händelseförlopp. Naturen skildras i båda filmer med en betoning på dess skönhet och som en plats för njutning och rekreation. I Vingarne håller sig scenografin mycket i bakgrunden, det är framförallt en transparent realism, men med talande undantag som berättar mycket om huvudpersonernas karaktärer och styrker filmens tema om moral och omoral. I Dunungen driver scenografin på flera punkter framnarrativet, i synnerhet skildringen av gården Bohult. Filmens scenografiska helhet harmonierar med huvudrollen Anne-Marie och kan även sägas driva fram vad som kallats den svenska stumfilmens nationella prägel. I båda filmer finns exempel på rekvisita, som i samklang med karaktärerna, i mycket hög utsträckning driver narrativet. Ett förhållningssätttill de litterära förlagorna, att man använt sig av passager därifrån på ett sätt som kan liknasvid direkta scenografianvisningar, utmärker sig.
