Dynamic Switching Times For Season And Single Tickets In Sports And Entertainment With Time Dependent Demand RatesPakyardim, Yusuf Kenan 01 August 2011 (has links) (PDF)
The most important market segmentation in sports and entertainment industry is the competition between customers that buy bundle and single tickets. A common selling practice is starting the selling season with bundle ticket sales and switching to selling single tickets later on. The aim of this practice is to increase the number of customers that buy bundles, to create a fund before the season starts and to increase the load factor of the games with low demand. In this thesis, we investigate the effect of time dependent demand on dynamic switching times and the potential revenue gain over the case where the demand rate is assumed to be constant with time.

Exchange Rate Pass-through Into Domestic Price Indicators: A Sectoral Analysis Of Turkish EconomyOzen, Emine Ozgu 01 December 2011 (has links) (PDF)
The question of exchange rate pass-through into domestic inflation is a widely analyzed issue due to its importance as regards to monetary policy, exchange rate policy and in general macroeconomic policy for open economies. Although most of the literature is focused on the exchange rate pass-through at the aggregate level, there are fewer studies that are done at the sectoral level for the Turkish economy. In this study by using a distribution chain of pricing model developed by McCarthy (2000), pass-through of exchange rates and import prices into domestic prices for selected sectors are examined for the Turkish economy. The emprical model estimates a Vector Auto Regression (VAR) to see pass-through dynamics through times and across the selected sectors. This study covers March 2002-December 2010 period / the period of floating exchange rates. Findings indicate that pass-through has fallen recently in Turkey. Moreover, results of the analysis show that external factors explain an important proportion of the variance of domestic prices for the sectors which have a larger import share.

A Chinese model of cognition : the Neiye, fourth century B.C.E.Simonis, Fabien. January 1998 (has links)
This is an attempt at construing descriptions of cognitive activities found in the Neiye, an early Chinese text (fourth century BCE) preserved in the Guanzi compilation. Through the notions of metaphor and cognitive model, and by means of hermeneutic principles developed by George Lakoff and other theorists, I scrutinize the text, trying to unravel the peculiar understanding of the cognitive functioning of the body upon which it is predicated. I focus on four words: xin (heart), shen (spirit), qi (breath), and qing (emotions). As a result of this enquiry, the physicality of cognitive activities in the Neiye stands out clearly. The importance of the body in cognitive activities should appear as clearly in translations if we want to get closer to the Chinese understanding of their own writings instead of reading them through categories which only make sense in our own constructed reality, our Lebenswelt.

The Question Of Urban Integration And Forced Migration From East And Southeast Anatolian Regions After 1980: The Case Of MersinMecin, Mansur 01 May 2004 (has links) (PDF)
The aim in this study is to find the variables that caused differentiation in the urban integration levels of families who migrated from East and Southeast Anatolian Regions after the 1980&rsquo / s due to ethno-political reasons, forcedly. Thus, demographic, socioeconomic, socio-spatial, solidarity networks (social, political, organizational,) and criminal variables have been evaluated, to see whether they caused differentiation in the urban integration levels of forced migrants or not. A total number of 175 household heads, who have migrated to Mersin due to ethno-political reasons, have been interviewed. We found that the urban integration level of forced migrants differentiates according to their socioeconomic status in village and whether they commit crime or not. In conclusion, we presented a political plan shaped around these two variables.

Computer Simulation Of Grain Boundary Grooving And Cathode Voiding In Bamboo Interconnects By Surface Diffusion Under Capillary And Electromigration ForcesAkyildiz, Oncu 01 September 2004 (has links) (PDF)
The processes of grain boundary grooving and cathode voiding which are important in determining the life times of thin films connecting the transistors in an integrated circuit are investigated by introducing a new mathematical model, which flows from the fundamental postulates of irreversible thermodynamics, accounting for the effects of applied electric field and thermal stresses. The extensive computer studies on the triple junction displacement dynamics shows that it obeys the first order reaction kinetics at the transient stage, which is followed by the familiar time law as , in the normalized time and space domain, at the steady state regime in the absence of the electric field (EF). The application of EF doesn&rsquo / t modify this time law very / but puts only an abrupt upper limit for the groove depth and fixes the total elapse time for that event, which is found to be inversely proportional with the electron wind intensity parameter. The drift in the cathode edge due to the surface diffusion along the side walls is simulated under the constant current regime. An analytical formula is obtained in terms of system parameters, which shows well defined threshold level for the onset of electromigration induced cathode drift, showing an excellent agreement with the reported experimental values in the literature.

Exchange Rate Pass-through Into The Export And Import Prices Of TurkeyAbali, Elif Ege 01 September 2004 (has links) (PDF)
In this study, exchange rate pass-through into the export prices and import prices is analyzed separately at the disaggregate level. The study also attempts to differentiate exchange rate pass-through in the short-run and long-run. To analyze pass-through in the short-run, dynamic modeling is used. To analyze pass-through in the long-run, cointegration analysis is conducted. Estimation results show that exchange rate pass-through into the import prices is complete even at the disaggregate level. However, there is variation in the pass-through into the export prices across sectors both in the short-run and long-run. Not all exporting sectors, even in a small open economy like Turkey, are price takers in the foreign markets.

Growth And Characterization Of Thin Sio2 And Ta2o5 Dielectric Layers By Nd:yag Laser OxidationAygun Ozyuzer, Gulnur 01 April 2005 (has links) (PDF)
Our aim was to establish a methodology for laser assisted oxidation of semiconductor and metal surfaces. One advantage of laser oxidation is the fact that radiation is heavily absorbed in a thin surface layer of the sample and the other is its ability for local oxidation. In addition to this, laser beam can be directed into some areas that other processes cannot reach. For these reasons, Nd:YAG pulsed laser working at 1064 nm wavelength is used for the oxidation purposes of Si and Ta films.
First, SiO2 layer was obtained for various O2 pressures and laser powers. The thickness, refractive index, structural, dielectric, electrical and optical characteristics of the SiO2 layers have been determined. We have established that there exists an interval of laser power in which the oxidation occurs without surface melting. The oxidation process is controlled by the laser power rather than by the substrate temperature (673 &ndash / 748 K). It was found that better film quality is obtained at higher substrate temperatures and laser power greater than 3.36 J/cm2.
Second, rf-sputtered Ta films were oxidized by laser, because Ta2O5 appears to be a good promising candidate to replace SiO2 because of its high dielectric constant, high breakdown voltage and relevant small leakage current values. It was found that the substrate temperature is an important parameter to obtain denser layers with reduced amount of suboxides and the most suitable substrate temperature range is around 350 C to 400 C. & / #946 / -orthorhombic crystal structure was obtained when the substrate temperature is 350 &ndash / 400 C for thinner films (up to 20 &ndash / 25 nm) and 300 &ndash / 350 C for thicker films (40 nm). The refractive index values of laser grown thin tantalum oxide films were between ~1.9 and 2.2 being close to those of bulk Ta2O5 (2.0 &ndash / 2.2). Oxide thicknesses in uniform Gaussian&ndash / like shapes were measured as around the twice of those initial Ta films. Effective dielectric constant values reached ~26 when the substrate temperature was increased from 250 C to around 400 C. It was shown that the leakage current density level decreases with increasing substrate temperature. However, the refractive index values of the films were smaller than those of thermally grown films. Porous structure formed during laser oxidation might be the reason for lower refractive indices and can be improved by post&ndash / oxidation annealing.

Cp-violating Effects In B Decays Beyond The StandardBashiry, Vali 01 June 2005 (has links) (PDF)
In this thesis, using a general model independent form of the effective
Hamiltonian, the CP-violating asymmetries in the b -> / d l l transition,
when one of the leptons is polarized, is investigated. The sensitivity
of the CP-violating asymmetries on the new Wilson coefficients are
analyzed.
Next, in the frame work of the same formalism, the polarized lepton
pair forward& / #8211 / backward asymmetries in B-> / K l l decay are studied.
We present the general expression for the nine double& / #8211 / polarization
forward& / #8211 / backward asymmetries. It is obtained that, the zero point position
of the forward& / #8211 / backward asymmetries of the doubly& / #8211 / polarized
lepton pair does not depend on long distance effects but depends on
short distance dynamics. Furthermore, it is shown that the zero position
of AFB is very sensitive to the sign of the new Wilson coefficients.
When sign of the Wilson coefficients is positive (negative) the zero position of the forward& / #8211 / backward asymmetries shifts to the left(right)
compared to the SM.
Moreover, the dependencies of the nine double& / #8211 / polarization forward& / #8211 / backward asymmetries on new Wilson coefficients, and the correlation
of the averaged nine double& / #8211 / polarization forward& / #8211 / backward asymmetries
with branching ratio, have been studied. It is observed that, the
study of the nine double& / #8211 / polarization forward& / #8211 / backward asymmetries
can serve as a good test in establishing new physics beyond the Standard
Model.
Finally, we observed that there are exist such regions of new Wilson
coefficients for which the nine double& / #8211 / polarization forward& / #8211 / backward
asymmetries considerably depart from the SM result, while the branching
ratio coincides with that of the SM prediction. In other words,
new physics effects can be established by analyzing polarized forwardbackward
asymmetry in this region of the new Wilson coefficients.

青銅禮器與周代婚姻研究= A study of the bronzes and Zhou marriages金方廷, 23 April 2018 (has links)
