Journeys into the garden of sexuality : the voices of women's sexuality in pastoral conversations

Spies, Nicoline 30 November 2005 (has links)
Tills research project arose from an awareness that many Christian women experience female sexual desire and the expression of sexual pleasure within a religious context to be a forbidden subject and that they are consequently isolated in silence. The social construction of sexuality within the history of Christianity was briefly explored to see which discourses underpin current constructions of White Christian female sexuality. Tills feminist, participatory action research project challenged the silence on women's sexuality by inviting three women to narrate their personal stories of sexuality. With the help of narrative therapeutic practices, some of the dominant social and religious discourses that constitute White Christian female sexuality were challenged and explored. This research project aimed at the co-construction of narratives of sexuality that will hopefully be life-giving to Christian women's experiences with sexuality. / Practical Theology / M.Th. Re-performing trauma making use of outsider witnessing : a pastoral narrative approach

Fortuin, Philene 12 1900 (has links)
The study focuses on women’s experiences of abuse resulting in trauma. This research performance was conducted within a practical theology framework guided by a de-centred participatory action research process. The study was conducted against a postmodern background and was informed by social construction discourse. Its aim was to explore whether and how narrative pastoral counselling using outsider witnessing could be helpful in finding new preferred ways of living, resulting in healing, resilience and hope for women who had experienced abuse and trauma. The outsider witness group explored practical ways of listening, observing and responding to the pain and suffering of others, resulting in a new performance of the self as valuable, competent, and enabling those who are witnessed to believe that they are survivors that have lived through and beyond the limited life span of abuse and trauma. The research report ends with a play, New Seasons, which is to be performed in front of live audiences in the course of 2012. / Practical Theology / M. Th. (Practical Theology with specialisation in Pastoral Therapy)

Co-Abhängigkeit und Resilienz von Frauen mit alkoholabhängigen Angehörigen : ein Beitrag zur Biografieforschung für die Seelsorge / Codependence and resilience of women with alcohol-addicted relatives : a contribution to biographical research for pastoral counselling

Hörauf, Waltraud 01 1900 (has links)
Schlüsselbegriffe: / Alcohol dependence is the most widespread addictive disease in Germany, the number of affected relatives unkown. After acquiring theoretical foundations and current research results, my research focused on narrative interviews with wives of alcohol dependent part-ners. By the use of reconstructive social research methods, data analysis and interpretation a deeper understanding of the life history of the two selected biographers was obtained. After detecting risk and protective factors, resilience promoting factors for pastoral care and counselling could be derived. Special attention was paid to the importance of Christian faith. For an understanding of the overall problem, all interviews were included as data material and evaluated. From the discussion of the results, recommendations for the Chris-tian Church and impulses giving direction for pastoral care and counselling were derived. / Practical Theology / M. Th.
