Organisasieklimaat is met die Organisasiediagnosevraelys (ODV) gemeet en
werksmolivering is met die Verwagtingsmotiveringsvraelys (VMV) gemeet, 'n skaal wat
gefundeer is in die teoretiese model van Edward E Lawler, III, en deur die navorser
aangepas is vir die steekproef en deur faktorontleding valideer is.
Die interalcsie deur biografiese en organisatoriese veranderlikes (ras, geslag, hierargiese
posvlak, werkspan, ouderdom en diensjare) is dear ontleding van variansie en
korrelasieontleding ondersoek. AI die korrelasies tussen die hoofdimensies van
organisasieklimaat en werksmotivering, met die uitsondering van valensie, ondersteun die
navorsingshipoteses met totale organisasieklimaat en totale werlcsmotivering (volgens die
Lawler-formule) se korrelasie gelyk aan 0,549 teen die 0,01 peil.
Deur stapsgewyse regressie-ontleding is twee dimensies van organisasieklimaat, naamlik
taakeienskappe asook bestuur en leierskap, gebruik om totale werksmotivering volgens
Lawler se formule te voorspel. Ongeveer 30% van die variansie van werksmotivering is
hierdeur voorspel. / The objective of this research is to determine the relationship between organisational climate
and work motivation.
Organisational climate was measured by the Organisational Diagnostic Questionnaire
(ODQ), and work motivation was measured by the Expectancy Motivation Questionnaire
(EMQ), a scale based on the model of Edward E. Lawler, III, and validated by means of
factor analysis for the population.
The interaction of the biographical and organisational variables on the main variables was
studied by means of ANOVA as well as correlations. The correlation between total
organisational climate and total work motivation (calculated according to the Lawler
formula) was 0,549 at the 0,01 level, thus supporting the research hypothesis.
By following the stepwise regression analytical procedures, the two dimensions of
organisational climate (task characteristics and manager/leadership) used to forecast work
motivation (as calculated by the Lawler formula), explained 30% of the variance of work

The relationship between managerial motivation and sense of coherenceCoetzee, Marius Gideon 06 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this research is to determine whether a relationship exists between two constructs, namely managerial motivation and sense of coherence and to determine whether any variance exists between two groups of people in terms of the mentioned constructs.
The study was conducted on a total sample of 124 employees of the Agricultural Research Council (ARC) which was divided into two groups, namely managers and supervisors in view of the position they held at the Agricultural Research Council.
The results of the study indicated that a significant positive relationship exists between the dimensions of managerial motivation and the dimensions of sense of coherence of the total sample. There is also a significant variance in terms of two dimensions between the two groups, namely power motive as dimension of managerial motivation and meaningfulness as dimension of sense of coherence. / Industrial and Organisational Psychology / M.A. (Industrial Psychology)

Predicting satisfaction with quality of work lifeFourie, Anna Sophia 30 June 2004 (has links)
A survey was done in order to identify the predictors that contribute to satisfaction with qowl. A positive correlation was found between satisfaction with facets of work life and overall satisfaction with qowl. No significant difference was found between overall satisfaction and the mean of the satisfaction with the facets of work life.
Organisational climate seemed to have the greatest influence. Significant predictors are identification with the organisation, participation, communication, resource management, work group functioning, reward system, health and safety aspects, job security and the rate of pay. Significant differences were found between rank, occupational, race and age groups.
When need non-fulfilment scales are added to facets of work life measures, increase in the prediction of overall satisfaction is significant. The need to do work that supports moral values contributed most significantly to overall satisfaction. The most frequent preference was for financial security, followed by recognition, relationships and for achievement. / Psychology / M.A.

Developing authenticity: a framework to enhance women's well-being in a male-dominated work environmentJacobs, Rochelle Dorothy 11 1900 (has links)

by exploring women’s experiences of authenticity and how these relate to their wellbeing
in a male-dominated work environment. Twelve purposively chosen women
participated in the study, comprising six police officers and six traffic officers from
the Western Cape province in South Africa. Data were gathered through narrative
interviews by using open-ended questions, and analysed by applying thematic
analysis. The research findings revealed that challenges or stressors in their law
enforcement environment serve as potential agents for moving the self away from
best-self in the authenticity dynamic, resulting in the need for coping and therefore
for developing authenticity.
The framework for developing authenticity was constructed as an ongoing and
unfolding process comprising the following: experiencing challenges or stressors;
turning within; recognising possible ways of being; managing perceptions, thoughts,
emotions and behaviour; making conscious choices and taking responsible actions;
as well as evaluating responses and consequences against best-self standards.
During this process various best-self characteristics and associated skills are
developed and employed, but also serve as best-self standards against which to
evaluate growth and transformation. Secondary objectives aimed to advance the
concept of authenticity in the study of well-being as a discipline of psychology. It also aimed to make a methodological contribution by applying hermeneutic

doelgerig gekose vrouens het deelgeneem aan die studie, wie bestaan het uit ses
polisiebeamptes en ses verkeersbeamptes uit die Wes-Kaapse provinsie in Suid-
Afrika. Data was versamel deur middel van narratiewe onderhoude deur oop vrae
te gebruik, en ontleed deur tematiese analise toe te pas. Die navorsingsbevindings
het aan die lig gebring dat uitdagings of stressors in hul wetstoepassingsomgewing
as potensiële agente dien om die self weg te beweeg van die beste-self in die
egtheid dinamika, wat die behoefte aan coping tot gevolg het en dus vir die
ontwikkeling van egtheid.
Die raamwerk vir die ontwikkeling van egtheid is saamgestel as 'n deurlopende en
ontvouende proses wat die volgende insluit: ervaring van uitdagings of stressors;
keer na binne; erkenning van moontlike maniere om te wees; hantering van
persepsies, gedagtes, emosies en gedrag; maak bewustelike keuses en neem
verantwoordelike aksies; sowel as die evaluering van reaksies en gevolge teen die
beste-self standaarde. Gedurende hierdie proses word verskeie beste-self
eienskappe en verwante vaardighede ontwikkel en aangewend, maar dien ook as
die beste-self standaarde om groei en transformasie te evalueer. Sekondêre
doelwitte het ten doel om die konsep van egtheid in die studie van welstand as
dissipline van sielkunde te bevorder. Dit is ook daarop gemik om 'n metodologiese
bydrae te lewer deur hermeneutiese fenomenologiese en transpersoonlike
