Radar Transparency and Paint Compatibility / Radartransparens och Färgkompatibilitet

Lodén, Jennie January 2017 (has links)
This study focus on trying to understand what factors regarding bumper materials and coatings affect the radar transparency at 77 GHz. Dielectric spectroscopy was done at 25 unique samples, consisting of various plastic substrates, primers, basecoats and clearcoats with the Free-spaced method in the 60-90 GHz region. The plastic substrate consisted of Polypropylene-blend with different fillers such as talc, carbon black and metal flakes. The basecoats analyzed were 2 solid factory coatings (one black and one white), 5 factory coating containing different effect pigments such as metal flakes, Xiralic, and Mica, 1 factory PVD coating and 2 aftermarket basecoats. All samples were provided by a Volvo Cars’ supplier, however, some samples were repainted with the aftermarket coatings. The complex permittivites were calculated for each PP-blend and coating from the curve fitting of the measured S-parameters from the Free-spaced method. Material analysis such as thickness measurements of the plastic substrate and coatings, ATR-FTIR spectroscopy, TGA and DSC were done at all plastic substrates. The plastic substrates and the coating were also observed in optical microscope and in SEM. The calculated permittivities were compared with the results from the material analysis and correlations between increased metal content in the basecoat and higher real permittivity were found. Some relationship between the size of the metal flakes and the radar transparency could also be observed. Further, correlations between higher real permittivity with higher concentration of talc and carbon black were detected. MATLAB was used to provide an example for optimization of the plastic thickness for a given basecoat in order to have minimal reflection at 77 GHz.

3D Visualization of Highway Corridors: The I-77/81 Case Study near Wytheville, VA

Thota, Pramod Reddy 14 June 2002 (has links)
The application of Visualization and Simulation technologies to intuitively depict, analyze and execute transportation projects is gaining momentum, as advances in 3-Dimension (3D) Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technologies are rapidly progressing and there is an increased need for public acceptance of transportation projects. This thesis presents a visualization process framework that is applicable to highway corridor visualization, and the I-77/81 Relocation Study Visualization project is discussed along the lines of the visualization framework that has been developed. The changes in the roadway alignment and associated traffic volume and pattern changes will affect the town of Wytheville, both in terms of economy and community development. The goal of the project is to present these visualizations at public participation meetings. Visualizations that have been developed in 2D, 3D, 4D, and virtual reality, will be discussed along with their developmental life cycles and issues affecting their quality. / Master of Science

"Je to cyklotron!" Podoba a strategie vzájemného střetávání opozice a Státní bezpečnosti v 70. a 80. letech 20. století / "It Is a Cyclotron!" Forms and Strategies of the Confrontation Between Opposition and Secret Police in the 70's and 80's.

Hošek, Jakub January 2018 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with forms and strategies of interference of Secret police and opposition during 1970s and 1980s. Strategies are monitored both from the side of dissent and Secret police. In the first chapter the opposite manuals for contact with Secret police are introduced. These form basic relationship delimitation of dissent and Secret police from the view of opposition. In the second part of the first chapter the manuals are embedded into wider context of legal consciousness, which represented basic element of mutual interference of these two groups. In the second chapter the strategies and methods of Secret police, which were used in the battle against "the enemy within", are introduced. Besides specific precautions used against dissidents the material and technical superiority of Secret police, which was used in the conflict against opposition, is noticeable. The final chapter represents categorization of strategies and approaches, which were chose by dissidents in contact with Secret police. The categorization originated on the basis of several factors - the character of dissidents, their experience with security authorities but also the activity, which was practised in the framework of opposite environment, belonged among them. Resulting text shows how much the worlds of dissent...

Jaromír Hořec: život a dílo / Jaromír Hořec: life and work

Novotný, Pavel January 2011 (has links)
This graduation thesis describes the personality of the Czech controversial poet, journalist, historian, pedagogue and writer Jaromír Hořec. He was born in Chust in present Ukraine. His original name was Jaromír Halhubner. The author of this study tries to collect the most important points of his life from the perspective of journalism. His life was full of opinion turns. The author tries to follow Horec's evolution of opinion over the course of his life. For one part of Czech society Jaromír Hořec was a demagogic leftist, hypocrite and opportunist, for another part Hořec was a major poet, writer and journalist. Both of these are somewhat true. The study tries to find answers for both opinion streams through the use of contemporary documents, the memories of witnesses and vocational literature.

Intelektuální dějiny českého reformního komunismu 1968 - 1990 / Intellectual History of Czech Reform Communism 1968 - 1990

Andělová, Kristina January 2021 (has links)
The main topic of the dissertation is the development and changes in the political thinking of Czech reform communism from 1968. While in the 1960s reform communism represented the dominant intellectual and political current, after the military invasion in August 1968 it gradually disappeared from the public discourse and was later completely suppressed by normalization propaganda and labeled as "counter- revolutionary" and "right-wing opportunist" ideology. The central questions of the thesis explore the changes that the political project of reform communism underwent during the twenty-one-year normalization period and the shifts that took place in the "horizon of expectation" of the Czechoslovak socialist opposition in the context of the intellectual and political changes of the 1970s and 1980s. The aim of the thesis is to explain the political perspectives of reform-communist intellectuals in the Czechoslovak opposition after 1968. They represented an important part of both domestic and especially exile opposition, which formed around the journal Listy. Some of them also played an important role in the creation of Charter 77 and its legalistic criticism. Nevertheless, their story does not fully fit into the traditional narrative of Czechoslovak dissent, as they never completely parted ways with...

Jan Štern: Život a dílo v období komunismu i po jeho pádu / Jan Štern: His life and Work In and After the Communist Era

Krejčíková, Žaneta January 2021 (has links)
This diploma thesis studies the life story of czech journalist Jan Štern and analyzes his articles in the magazine "Listy", which was illegal in the former Czechoslovakia until the end of 1989. The main goal is, in addition to the description of Štern's life when he went through the concentration camp, the Prague Uprising and the revolution against the communist regime, to find answers of research questions: "Do the texts encourage the reader to do something specific, if so, to what?", "What is the nature of the texts: descriptive, entertaining, contemplative, reviewing or dictating?" and "What is the focus of the texts, are they of a purely political nature?". The evaluation was based on a combined content analysis of 62 articles from the 70s and 90s of the 20th century and the results show that 74 % of the texts do not contain a direct call or persuasion, 79 % of articles can be described as a contemplation or combination of contemplation and description and every arcticle responds to a political issue. The whole work ends with a conclusion, a list of used sources, theses, a list of appendices, bibliography of used articles from the magazine "Listy" and transcription of interview with Anna Šabatová.
