The New Shop Assistants? Unveiling ConsumerAttitudes towards AI-powered Chatbots in E-commerce : An exploratory study

TIger NIlson, Elna, Bengtsson, Ida January 2024 (has links)
Background: In today's society, the rapid growth of online shopping among consumers has resulted in the widespread adoption of artificial intelligence powered chatbots by businesses. Despite this, previous research has not focused on where customers place their attitudes towards AI-powered chatbots in e-commerce. The ABC model of attitudes, which includes affective, behavioral, and cognitive components was used to examine how attitudes are formed towards AI-powered chatbots. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore consumers' attitudes towards AI-powered chatbots utilized in e-commerce. Methodology: Because the study has an exploratory and inductive approach, a qualitative research strategy was selected. It was determined to use a generic purposive sampling in which ten participants were chosen as part of Generation Z. A semi-structured interview was conducted in which questions were posed regarding the ABC model and the characteristics of AI-powered chatbots. To analyze how attitudes are formed and what they are, grounded theory was used to code the interviews to established consumer attitudes categories. Findings: The findings demonstrate that consumers' attitudes towards AI-powered chatbots used in e-commerce varied from being positive, negative, or mixed. This is due to the factors that contributed to the formation of attitudes.

Charfou, Abdul Rahman, Naji, Jumana January 2024 (has links)
Background: This study explores consumer attitudes towards AI-generated videosusing the ABC model of attitudes, which includes Affective, Behavioral, and Cognitive components. AI-generated videos represent a significant evolution in content creation, incorporating advanced technologies that evoke a range of emotional, behavioural, andcognitive responses from consumers. Understanding these responses is crucial as AIbecomes increasingly integrated into media production. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore consumers’ attitudes towardsAI-generated videos. Methodology: Data was collected through semi-structured interviews with participantsfrom diverse backgrounds and professions. A purposive sampling method wasemployed to select participants familiar with generative AI technology, ensuring a richand diverse set of insights. Findings: Findings reveal a spectrum of emotional responses, with negative emotionsoften tied to perceptions of artificiality and lack of authenticity, while positive emotionsare driven by the novelty and potential of AI technology. Behavioural intentions varied, ranging from reluctance due to trust issues to openness influenced by perceived benefitsand professional interests. Cognitive evaluations highlighted knowledge disparities andethical concerns, with deeper understanding correlating with cautious optimism orscepticism. Conclusion: The study contributes to the literature by providing a nuancedunderstanding of how affective, behavioural, and cognitive dimensions interact to shapeoverall consumer attitudes towards AI-generated videos. Practical implications suggestthat companies and marketers should address trust and ethical concerns while enhancingthe authenticity and transparency of AI-generated videos to foster positive consumerengagement.

\"Estudo do desenvolvimento floral em espécies arbóreas da família Meliaceae\" / Floral development in woody species of the Meliaceae family

Gouvêa, Cantidio Fernando 25 August 2005 (has links)
The Meliaceae family comprises approximately 51 genus and 550 species mainly distributed in the Neotropical region. In this family there are many species of commercial interest for the production of noble wood. The lack of information on the floral biology associated with silvicultural problems limits the elaboration of effective breeding programs with species of economic interest. The present work aims to contribute with the understanding of floral development in Meliaceae, focusing in seven species of economical or ecological interest: Cedrela fissilis L., Cedrela odorata L., Swietenia macrophylla R. A. King, Trichilia claussenii C. DC., Guarea guidonea (L.) Sleumer, Toona ciliata M. J. Roem e Melia azedarach L. Morpho-anatomical analyses were done by light and scannning electron microscopy. The expression pattern of the ABC model genes, which are related to floral development, was analyzed by in situ hybridization. The characterization of the development of floral organ primordia and the establishment of arbitrary stages of floral development was done and was important for the characterization of gene expression. These results allowed for the identification of functionally female and male flowers in Swietenia macrophylla, Cedrela fissilis, Cedrela odorata and Toona ciliata, characterizing sexual dimorphism. The patterns of gene expression of the homologous of APETALA 1, APETALA 3 and AGAMOUS were different from those predicted by the ABC model. AP1 expression was observed in the entire floral meristem in the initial stages of development, in all seven species. The expression signal was more concentrated in sepal and petal primordia in further stages of development, although a weak hybridization signal of AP1 was verified in all four whorls. The expression of AP3 homologs was observed in the second and third whorls, as predicted by the ABC model. However, a weak signal of AP3 was also observed in the forth whorl, which was not predicted by the ABC model. AG homolog expression was restricted to the central region of the floral meristem, corresponding to the third and forth whorls, in all stages of development of all seven species. However, additional hybridization signal of AG homologs were seen in the abaxial region of sepal and petal primordia in Cedrela fissilis, Cedrela odorata and Toona ciliata. The analyses of the ABC model genes in Meliaceae revealed that the expression patterns do not agree with the theoretical currently accepted model that determines the molecular control of the identity of the floral organs.

From wild to domesticated roses : characterisation of APETALA2L function in double flower formation in Rosa chinensis

François, Léa 16 July 2019 (has links)
Roses exhibiting double flowers have intrigued both breeders and scientists for decades. Based on segregation ratios and genetic maps, it is known that the switch from simple to double flower is due a single dominant locus on chromosome 3. When present in its mutated form, this locus leads to a homeotic conversion of stamens into petals, suggesting a mechanism involving the ABC genes. A few years ago, our team demonstrated that the increase in petal number correlates with a restriction of RCAGAMOUS (RcAG) expression domain towards the center of the floral meristem. However, as RcAG is located on chromosome 5, the causative mutation was assumed to act as a regulator of this gene. Recently, we sequenced, assembled and published the double-flowered Rosa chinensis cv ‘Old Blush’ genome sequence with a high-quality assembly that helped us to reconstruct the sequence of the two haplotypes of the interval containing the double flower mutation. Among the 631 genes from this interval, we identified here an APETALA2-LIKE (RcAP2L) gene as a strong candidate. Indeed, this gene was found to exist as two alleles, with one containing a large transposable element resulting in a truncated, miR172-resistant, variant named RcAP2LΔ172. Knowing that the overexpression of a miR172-resistant variant of AP2 leads to the formation of extra petals (and sometimes stamens) in Arabidopsis, we investigated the presence of this variant in simple and double flower varieties. The presence of RcAP2LΔ172 was found to correlate with the double flower phenotype in Chinese roses and was not observed in any of the simple-flowered roses studied. Finally, as AP2 is able to inhibit AG expression by directly binding to its regulatory sequences in A. thaliana, I confirmed that both RcAP2L proteins are also able to recognize RcAG regulatory sequences in vitro. A working model is thus proposed for double flower formation in rose, that could be valid for other Rosaceae, whereby RcAP2LΔ172 protein may accumulate due to its resistance to miR172 and consequently may repress more RcAG towards the center of the floral meristem, leading to the sliding of the A/C border and thus the conversion of stamens into petals.

The interaction between emotions, cognition and actions in the fast fashion industry

Hagel, Felicia, Georgsson, Hanna, Björling, Hannah January 2017 (has links)
Complaints, due to broken products, are today mostly handled in two ways in the fast fashion industry. These two ways are replacement of goods or a refund. This paper investigates whether repair of the product would be an acceptable option for the consumer. This is investigated by analyzing consumer attitudes to garment repair instead of traditional complaint alternatives. Repair of the product includes repair in store, the consumers repairing the garment themselves for a compensation or the company offering a sewing kit to the consumer to repair the garment themself. Solomon, Bamossy, Askegaard and Hoggs (2013) ABC-model is applied to analyze consumer attitudes. The purpose is to investigate female consumers attitudes towards complaint alternatives in physical stores, as well as their attitudes to less occured options in the fast fashion industry. The empirical data consists of focus groups. In order to achieve the purpose of this paper, the empirical data has been analyzed with previous research and the theoretical model. The theory and the previous research addresses areas such as complaint, sustainability, behavior and attitudes. The study's conclusion is that shop repair is an option if the repair is done without waiting and a warranty of the garment is given. That the consumers themself should repair the garment for a compensation is only an option if the consumer has the knowledge and competence to repair. However, there is skepticism to this option because consumers perceive it as the company's responsibility to remedy. The alternative offering a sewing kit is not an acceptable option for the consumers. It will be a process to apply new complaint alternatives because the customer needs time to accept these alternatives. The consumer's responsibility lies in the choice making. In order for consumers to make alternative choices in complaint situations companies should offer the alternatives as well as encourage and inspire consumers to make the right choice for the environment.

Chefers hantering av mellanmänskliga konflikter inom hälso- och sjukvård : En litteraturöversikt om konflikthanteringsstrategier / Managers' management of interpersonal conflicts in health care : A literature review on conflict management strategies

Bergius, Marie, Claesson, Martin January 2021 (has links)
Background: In health care organizations, conflicts are inevitable, constantly occurring and a natural part of the workplace. Decreased health in the form of occupational illnesses and stress can be attributed to unhandled workplace conflicts. Despite this, many nurse managers experience discomfort and difficulties with how conflicts should be handled. Aim: This study aimed to compile current research and present an overall picture of different conflict management strategies relevant to health care administration during the years 2010-2021. This is to contribute to the sustainable management of interpersonal conflicts in health care in order to promote a health-promoting work environment. Method: Systematic literature study with a qualitative approach. The analysis was performed by synthesizing and compiling twelve primary scientific studies with both a qualitative and quantitative approach. Results: Our result indicates a causal relationship between demographic factors and the choice of conflict management strategy. Furthermore, the results show that there is an awareness among managers that compromising, integrative and active conflict management generally is the most effective, but some studies indicate that avoidant and dominated strategies is prevalent. The results also show that managers use several different conflict management strategies. Conclusion/Discussion: Effective conflict management positively affects occupational health, organizational efficiency, and the quality of care. Therefore, we believe that conflict management should be a priority area for managers and management training in healthcare. There is a lack of studies based on the Swedish context, causation and choice of conflict management strategies, and connection to occupational health. Further research is needed to achieve and enable sustainable and health-promoting leadership.
