Nurse Educator and Nursing Student Learning Style Match and Its Effect on the Problem Solving Ability of the Nursing Student

McCormick, Sarajane Y. 05 1900 (has links)
This investigation concerned the effect of nurse educator/nursing student learning style match on the latter's problem solving ability. Problem solving ability was defined as the processes of finding facts, problems, ideas, solutions and their acceptance in other than past experience, tradition and habit. The underlying conceptual framework was Kolb's holistic model of experiential learning which combines experience, perception, cognition and behavior. The model has vertical and horizontal axes resulting in four quadrants or kinds of learners: diverger, assimilator, converger and accommodator. Instruments used were Kolb's Learning Style Inventory and Gover's Nursing Performance Simulation Instrument.

The Reading and Writing Relationship: A Correlational Study of English as a Second Language Learners at the Collegiate Level

Pimsarn, Pratin 08 1900 (has links)
The major purpose of this study was to determine the possible correlation between reading and writing abilities of college students who are identified as second language learners. It was also aimed at determining the relationships between variables pertaining to the ESL college students, namely, their self-selected reading materials, their reading interests, the amount of time spent studying English, how they studied English, how they were taught English, and the length of residence in the United States.

Holland's Self-Directed Search: A Measure of Interests of Abilities? / Holland's Self-Directed Search: A Measure of Interests or Abilities?

Williams, Richard Earl 12 1900 (has links)
This study examined the relationship between the sub-components of Holland's Self-Directed Search and independent, objective measures of ability using a comprehensive battery of well-validated tests of primary abilities corresponding to each of Holland's six vocational interest types. The sample consisted of 149 female undergraduate students, ages 18-25. Correlation of the ability measure test scores with the four Self-Directed Search subcomponents revealed that the subtests were not related to corresponding measures of ability in a consistent fashion. Implications for the use of the Self-Directed Search in assessing abilities are discussed along with suggestions for future research investigating the relationhip between interest in ventories and the measurement of primary abilities.

Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Follow-Up Assessment of Physical Functioning Abilities After Treatment in a Comprehensive Environmental Control Unit

Cockburn, Orbie 03 1900 (has links)
Two instruments were developed and administered to fifteen female and three male rheumatoid arthritics (mean age 44) previously hospitalized for allergy treatment by ecological methods. The Physical Functioning Ability Scale assessed functional capacity according to common daily activities, and the Rehabilitation Questionnaire surveyed adjustment problems subjects encountered after hospital discharge. ANOVA was performed on the functionality scale comparing dimensions of dependence, pain, and difficulty with categorical activities of mobility, work, and personal care, Significant F values (p(.05) were obtained for interaction and dimensions, but not for categories. Functional independence from human/mechanical assistance was particularly noted. Recommendation for future research concerns replicating this study using a control group of rheumatoid arthritics treated by traditional medical approaches.

Úroveň koordinačních schopností dětí mladšího školního věku / Coordination abilities level of younger school age children

Vlčková, Petra January 2015 (has links)
Title: Coordination abilities' level of primary school children Author: Petra Vlčková Department: Department of Physical Education Supervisor: Mgr. et Mgr. Zdeňka Engelthalerová Abstract: This thesis is devided into two parts. The theoretical part includes theoretical knowledge, which relates to motoric abilities, especially their definition and structuring in relation to primary school children. There is also a description of coordination abilities and their possibile recognising and development in detail. In the practical part there is a description of testing procedure which finds out the level of space orientation, balance and rhythm coordination abilities by pupils in the forth form at primary school. The tests results are statistically analysed and annotated. Obtained data are compiled in charts and diagrams. There is a supplement to the practical part containing the compendium of activities for coordination development. Key words: coordination abilities, primary school age, motor learning, motor tests

Využití fitness centra pro ovlivnění síly dolních končetin fotbalistů. / Use of fitness center to affect the strength of the lower limbs for football players.

Zavičák, Ondřej January 2014 (has links)
Title: Use of fitness center to affect the strength of the lower limbs for football players. Objectives: The aim of thesis is to create an overview for strengthening the lower limbs of football players from lower categories in fitness center. Find information about the strengthening of the lower limbs of football players from performance category and compared with men who go strengthen to the fitness centers. Methods: The paper has been used the literature analysis and carrying out survey which was conducted using interviews. 50 football players of performance category were target group. Results: In this work it was found that 72% football players dedicated strengthening the lower limbs especially in a comprehensive way and not just in fitness centers, as well ass at home and in training. The lower limbs of football players are overwhelmingly strengthened, but at lower categories the quidance of trained coach is missing. The number of reps and sets in training for the lower limbs are rather lower. 60% of footballers train in one set under 10 reps and 84% footballers do under 16 sets in strength training of the lower limbs. Keywords: Lower limbs - football - strength abilities - methodology of the strengthening - exercises application.

Vliv fyzické zátěže na přesnost střelby z ruční zbraně / Influence of physical demands on shooting accuracy with hand-operated weapon

Sýkora, Michal January 2014 (has links)
Title: Influence of physical demands on shooting accuracy with hand-operated weapon. Objectives: Aim of this thesis is compare how physical load, present by Burpee motor abilities test, aplicate on selected group of soldiers influence their shooting accuracy from pistol in stand up position with bouth hands grip at standing target. Aggregate of twenty test subjects is comosed of policemen from Department of protect and escort Military police Prague and students from VO at FTVS UK in Prague. Methods: For statistical data processing we used the method of comparison and comparison of averages. To determine statistical significance, we used two- tailed, paired t - test. For the evaluation targets, we used numerical method for detecting mean point of impact. Results: The measured data were processed statistically, it was found that physical activity has statistical effect on the shooting accuracy, while standing and with both hands grip, from pistole in the first group (MP). The second measurement work out similary, which mean physical exercise has statistical effect on the shooting accuracy, while standing and with both hands grip, from pistole. Furthermore, we found that the greatest influence on shooting accuracy after physical exertion realized by Burpee test, have the individual level of fitness...
