The implementation, in a chain of optical transmission, high-speed, optical filters of length adjust

Benameur, Sarah 30 June 2015 (has links)
This study relates to the field of optical transmission systems fibers and more particularly the impact of different filtering techniques (optical) on the performance of optical transmission systems (metro access). Reception, these systems have a narrow filter, which filters the signal without having to deal with the noise in the link. It is generally considered that the narrowness of the receiving filter is indispensable for the proper functioning of a link without repeaters, and the sensitivity of the link is even greater than the width of the filter is close to the theoretical limit that is the spectrum width of the transmitted signal. The use of such filters has constraints. Firstly, the filters have steep slopes, and are expensive. On the other hand, a shift of the wavelength of the emitter length is always possible, so that most of the receivers comprise receiving filters whose wavelength is locked to the wavelength of the transmitter. For a transmission system with wavelength multiplexing, wherein plural different wavelengths may be used, this allows to increase the capacity of information transmitted, but however poses real constraints such that crosstalk between channels. The channels are multiplexed in the same fiber and filtered upon receipt by an optical filter which is used both in the channels and demultiplexing a possible optical filter in the spectrum of the considered channel. The optical filter has variable parameters: shape, bandwidth, and center wavelength, then the channel will be filtered and analyzed by the receiver. It includes a photodiode followed by an electrical filter of the form of the filter function of order Bessel type 5. Quality information will be evaluated by the bit error rate BER.In this thesis we propose to analyze the impact of the fundamental parameters of the filters on the performance of an optical system.

Utveckling av ett höj- och sänkbart elevbord / Development of a height adjustable student desk

Henriksson, Eva, Johansson, Sofie January 2017 (has links)
During the spring semester of 2017 a product development project has been carried out by two Design Engineering Students, Eva Henriksson and Sofie Johansson, in cooperation with Kinnarps. Kinnarps is a company who develops and sells furniture for public environments and as they are now focusing on the development of how educational spaces are formed and furnished they wanted to develop a height adjustable student desk for pupils between the ages of 10 to 16. To be able to reassure whether the correct customer requirements were identified and fulfilled in the right way QFD – Quality Function Deployment was used and analyzed as a part of the project. The use of QFD during the pre-study included, amongst other things, the execution of interviews and observations of users and the target group, performing competitive analyses, looking into trends , evaluate and weighing the importance of different needs and translating those into measureable specifications. The pre-study showed that needs like mobility, flexibility, simple adjustment and that the table should be as quiet as possible were the most important ones. The concept generation phase started by identifying and evaluating different options of height adjustment mechanisms. Creativity methods were used to generate ideas on how different parts of the table could be constructed. The generated concepts were then evaluated and screened continuously by looking on how well they fulfilled the customer requirements and through user tests and feedback from the target group. Two concepts remained before the final selection. The choice between these two concepts were based on to which extend each of them fulfilled the customer requirements. The final design of the table fulfills the requirements that were set and fits well into the educational spaces as they are formed today and how they probably will be designed in the future. The functionality that were requested by the users have been fulfilled while the table still has a unique and appealing look.

Návrh řiditelných diferenčních filtrů s proudovými aktivními prvky / Design of adjustable fully-differential filters with current active elements

Polášek, Lubomír January 2010 (has links)
The master thesis deals with design of the fully differential frequency filters working in the current mode and is focused on possibilities of the natural frequency and the quality factor adjustment. At the beginning, there is a brief description of frequency filters and active elements (MO-CF, FD-CF and DACA), which are used in the thesis. Furthermore, simplified signal flow graphs design method and transformation of passive and active elements to the differential structures are described. The designs of four differential circuitries which provide possibility of tuning the natural frequency or quality factor by the gain of the DACA element are shown in the thesis. Simulation results made in OrCAD program with help of third-order models are included. The practical implementation of the differential frequency filter for tuning of the natural frequency by the DACA elements is shown in the last chapter.

Methods and Metrics for Human Control of Multi-Robot Teams

Anderson, Jeffrey D. 15 November 2006 (has links) (PDF)
Human-controlled robots are utilized in many situations and such use is becoming widespread. This thesis details research that allows a single human to interact with a team of robots performing tasks that require cooperation. The research provides insight into effective interaction design methods and appropriate interface techniques. The use of team-level autonomy is shown to decrease human workload while simultaneously improving individual robot efficiency and robot-team cooperation. An indoor human-robot interaction testbed was developed at the BYU MAGICC Lab to facilitate experimentation. The testbed consists of eight robots equipped with wireless modems, a field on which the robots move, an overhead camera and image processing software which tracks robot position and heading, a simulator which allows development and testing without hardware utilization and a graphical user interface which enables human control of either simulated or hardware robots. The image processing system was essential for effective robot hardware operation and is described in detail. The system produced accurate robot position and heading information 30 times per second for a maximum of 12 robots, was relatively insensitive to lighting conditions and was easily reconfigurable. The completed testbed was utilized to create a game for testing human-robot interaction schemes. The game required a human controlling three robots to find and tag three robot opponents in a maze. Finding an opponent could be accomplished by individual robots, but tagging an opponent required cooperation between at least two robots. The game was played by 11 subjects in five different autonomy modes ranging from limited robot autonomy to advanced individual autonomy with basic team-level autonomy. Participants were interrupted during the game by a secondary spatial reasoning task which prevented them from interacting with the robots for short periods of time. Robot performance during that interruption provided a measure of both individual and team neglect tolerance. Individual robot neglect tolerance and performance did not directly correspond to those quantities at the team level. The interaction mode with the highest levels of individual and team autonomy was most effective; it minimized game time and human workload and maximized team neglect tolerance.
