Esporte e ansiedade pré-competitiva: uma análise dos parâmetros psicofisiológicos e sua relação com o desempenho esportivo em atletas profissionais de futsal / Sport and Anxiety pre-competition: an analysis of psychophysiological parameters and your relationship with performance in professional athletes of futsalAna Carolina Paludo 23 September 2016 (has links)
The pre-competitive state anxiety and it´s possible relationship with the sport performance has become a focus of investigation for many researchers, especially in sport psychology. However in the sport futsal, this relationship is still inconclusive. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between pre-competitive anxiety and performance of professional athletes of futsal during the playoffs of a championship. Furthermore, in this study the possible influence of the phase and game condition on the anxiety and performance responses was analyzed, additionally, the Catastrophe Theory was used to see the interaction amongst cognitive anxiety, arousal and performance responses. To develop this study, 16 male professional futsal athletes were analyzed, belonging to an elite club of São Paulo, Brazil. The study was conducted throughout the playoffs of an important championship on high level for the team. The samples were collected in home and away venue in phases of quarterfinals, semifinals and finals. The data were collected about 15 to 30 minutes before the warm-up in each game, in which the anxiety by CSAI-2R and the physiological arousal by HRV were evaluated. Performance was analyzed subjectively (Likert Scale questionnaire) and objectively (match analysis). The used statistics treatments were: the ANOVA 2x3 for analyzing the influence of phase and game condition; the Pearson\'s correlation for testing the correlation among the variables (state anxiety, physiological arousal and performance) and for the Catastrophe Theory followed specific statistical tests. For all analyzes the alpha was set on 5%. Among the main results we identified a significant influence of the phase of competition for the pre-competitive physiological arousal and the subjective performance. Significant correlations were found among the variables, however, the majority of them was classified as \"moderate\". The Catastrophe Theory presented a positive application on the interaction among anxiety, physiological arousal by HRV indices and performance. Concerning the findings, we can conclude that the pre-competitive state of anxiety and the performance showed a negative relationship in futsal athletes. This relationship can be observed in the Catastrophe Theory, when under high levels of cognitive anxiety, decrease their performance as a function of the increase of physiological arousal. Beyond that, we can conclude that the phase of the game can influence the athlete\'s behavior. When the phase of championship increases, the athletes show a higher level of physical arousal, plus the great subjective performance

Linear Static Analysis Of Large Structural Models On Pc ClustersOzmen, Semih 01 July 2009 (has links) (PDF)
This research focuses on implementing and improving a parallel solution framework for
the linear static analysis of large structural models on PC clusters. The framework
consists of two separate programs where the first one is responsible from preparing data
for the parallel solution that involves partitioning, workload balancing, and equation
numbering. The second program is a fully parallel nite element program that utilizes
substructure based solution approach with direct solvers.
The first step of data preparation is partitioning the structure into substructures.
After creating the initial substructures, the estimated imbalance of the substructures
is adjusted by iteratively transferring nodes from the slower substructures to the faster
ones. Once the final substructures are created, the solution phase is initiated. Each
processor assembles its substructure' / s stiffness matrix and condenses it to the interfaces.
The interface equations are then solved in parallel with a block-cyclic dense
matrix solver. After computing the interface unknowns, each processor calculates the
internal displacements and element stresses or forces. Comparative tests were done to
demonstrate the performance of the solution framework.

Satellite multiple access protocols for land mobile terminals : a study of the multiple access environment for land mobile satellite terminals, including the design analysis and simulation of a suitable protocol and the evaluation of its performance in a U.K. systemFenech, Hector Tony January 1987 (has links)
This thesis is a study of multiple access schemes for satellite land mobile systems that provide a domestic or regional service to a large number of small terminals. Three orbit options are studied, namely the geostationary, elliptical (Molniya) and inclined circular orbits. These are investigated for various mobile applications and the choice of the Molniya orbit is justified for a U. K. system. Frequency, Time and Code Division Multiple Access (FDMA, TDMA and CDMA) are studied and their relative merits in the mobile environment are highlighted. A hybrid TDMA/FDMA structure is suggested for a large system. Reservation ALOHA schemes are appraised in a TDMA environment and an adaptive reservation multiple access protocol is proposed and analysed for a wide range of mobile communication traffic profiles. The system can cope with short and long data messages as well as voice calls. Various protocol options are presented and a target system having 100,000 users is considered. Analyses are presented for the steady state of protocols employing pure and slotted ALOHA and for the stabilty of the slotted variant, while simulation techniques were employed to validate the steady state analysis of the slotted ALOHA protocol and to analyse the stability problem of the pure ALOHA version. An innovative technique is put forward to integrate the reservation and the acquisition processes. It employs the geographical spread of the users to form part of the random delay in P-ALOHA. Finally an economic feasibility study is performed for the spacesegment. For costs of capital (r) less than 23 % the discounted payback period is less than the project's lifetime (10 years). At r- 8% the payback period is about 5.6 years, while the internal-rate-of-return is 22.2 %. The net present value at the end of the projects lifetime is £M 70 at r-8%.

Design And Performance Evaluation Of Mixed Flow Pumps By Numerical Experimentation And Axial Thrust InvestigationCirit, Ali 01 October 2007 (has links) (PDF)
In this thesis a vertical turbine mixed flow pump that has a flow rate of 40 l/s and 16 mwc head at 2900 rpm is designed. Effect of design parameters are investigated and flow inside the pump is analyzed with the help of numerical experimentations. The designed pump is manufactured and tested in Layne Bowler Pumps Company and completed in TÜ / BiTAK - TEYDEB project. Pump is designed in the tolerance limits that are defined in the standard TS EN ISO 9906. Numerical experimentation results for performance charecteristics show the same trend with the test results.
In addition, axial thrust measurements are done on the designed pump with using load cells. Effect of balancing holes and balancing ring are investigated. Balancing holes are drilled at various diameters at the back side of the impellers and its effect is analyzed on the pump performance characteristics. Test results are compared with different approaches.

The financial performance of small and medium sized companies : a model based on accountancy data is developed to predict the financial performance of small and medium sized companiesEarmia, Jalal Yousif January 1991 (has links)
This study is concerned with developing a model to identify small-medium U.K. companies at risk of financial failure up to five years in advance. The importance of small companies in an economy, the impact of their failures, and the lack of failure research with respect to . this population, provided justification for this study. The research was undertaken in two stages. The first stage included a detailed description and discussion of the nature and role of small business in the UK economy, heir relevance, problems and Government involvement in this sector, together with literature review and assessment of past research relevant to this study. The second stage was involved with construction of the models using multiple discriminant analysis, applied to published accountancy data for two groups of failed and nonfailed companies. The later stage was performed in three parts : (1) evaluating five discriminant models for each of five years prior to failure; (2) testing the performance of each of the .five models over time on data not used . in their construction; (3) testing the discriminant models on a validation sample. The purpose was to establish the "best" discriminant model. "Best" was determined according to classification ability of the model and interpretation of variables. Finally a model comprising seven financial ratios measuring four aspects of a company's financial profile, such as profitability, gearing, capital turnover and liquidity was chosen. The model has shown to be a valid tool for predicting companies' health up to five years in advance.

Previous issue date: 2003-09-23 / Coordena??o de Aperfei?oamento de Pessoal de N?vel Superior / The last years have presented an increase in the acceptance and adoption of the parallel processing, as much for scientific computation of high performance as for applications of general intention. This acceptance has been favored mainly for the development of environments with massive parallel processing (MPP - Massively Parallel Processing) and of the distributed computation. A common point between distributed systems and MPPs architectures is the notion of message exchange, that allows the communication between processes. An environment of message exchange consists basically of a communication library that, acting as an extension of the programming languages that allow to the elaboration of applications parallel, such as C, C++ and Fortran. In the development of applications parallel, a basic aspect is on to the analysis of performance of the same ones. Several can be the metric ones used in this analysis: time of execution, efficiency in the use of the processing elements, scalability of the application with respect to the increase in the number of processors or to the increase of the instance of the treat problem. The establishment of models or mechanisms that allow this analysis can be a task sufficiently complicated considering parameters and involved degrees of freedom in the implementation of the parallel application. An joined alternative has been the use of collection tools and visualization of performance data, that allow the user to identify to points of strangulation and sources of inefficiency in an application. For an efficient visualization one becomes necessary to identify and to collect given relative to the execution of the application, stage this called instrumentation. In this work it is presented, initially, a study of the main techniques used in the collection of the performance data, and after that a detailed analysis of the main available tools is made that can be used in architectures parallel of the type to cluster Beowulf with Linux on X86 platform being used libraries of communication based in applications MPI - Message Passing Interface, such as LAM and MPICH. This analysis is validated on applications parallel bars that deal with the problems of the training of neural nets of the type perceptrons using retro-propagation. The gotten conclusions show to the potentiality and easinesses of the analyzed tools.
