Meningsfull rörelsebildning genom lagidrott - vägen till livslångt idrottande? : En studie om äldre aktiva i gåfotboll och innebandy+ / Physical literacy through team sport – the way to lifelong sport participation? : A study about elderly active in walking football and floorball

Rönnblad, Jenny January 2023 (has links)
Globally the population is aging as well as the physical inactivity increases. This creates several problemsboth for societies and individuals. A part of the problem of physical inactivity is the lack of options ofphysical activity for elderly. Beyond the physical inactivity elderly also tend to experience loneliness which can be antagonized with participation in a sport club. As a response to the problem the Swedish Football Association and the Swedish Floorball Association has ongoing work where the sport is adaptedfor elderly. The aim of the study is to examine physical active elderly’s physical literacy through adapted team sport for elderly. Therefore, it’s questioned what makes participation in the adapted team sports meaningful for elderly. Also, it’s questioned what they would think about introducing competition in the adapted team sport as well as what the differences between the two sports are. This was examined through focus groups, which included 27 elderly women and men with an age over 62 years active in team sports in different parts of Sweden. As a help to understand the complexity of what’s important to create lifelong sport participation among elderly a theoretically framework has been used. The framework is physical literacy which initiates to approach physical activity with a more holistic perspective. The result shows small differences between the sports and that the participators seem to be a homogenous group. They mainly thought that the physical activity in combination with the fellowshipmade participation in adapted team sport meaningful. It also showed that elderly that participated in the sports evolved their physical literacy, which means that adapted team sports might be the way to lifelong sport participation among elderly.
