In recent decade, the government is devoted to promote community empowerment to make the residents positively take part in public affairs of community, arouse their community identity, and develop their own particular culture for promoting life quality. However, the outcomes are not better than those the government expected. In order to carry through the concepts of community empowerment, the government and non-governmental parties aggressively set into action and stress community and adult education based on the community development and community learning as their new strategies of community development. Besides, in the non-governmental circles, the community development is mainly implemented by non-profit organizations as community form. The Meinung People¡¦s Association was chosen as the case study in this thesis. She is not only keeping working for cultural maintenances but also have excellent results of characteristics of population in Meinung, implementing village-formed community college and community education for foreign wives and they are noticed and approved by others. The functions and roles of community education are addressed with the patterns of development. The interviews are used to collect the first-hand data and SWOT Analysis of Porter and CORPS Model of Seetoo, Dah-Hsian were used to analyze and evaluate strategic practices on community education of and try to further understand what problems a non-profit org. will face while implementing community education and find out corresponded solutions. Finally, PDCA Model of Dr. Edward Deming was used to think the systematic strategies of future development of the Meinung People¡¦s Association. With the development experiences of the Meinung People¡¦s Association, I sincerely hope to propose the practical suggestions and references to how to implement the practices of community education for the non-profit organization.

Constructing Directed Domain Knowledge Structure Map Using Association Rule - An Example of MIS Domain

Cheng, Pai-shung 31 August 2006 (has links)
In the coming knowledge-based economy era, knowledge structure map (KSM) has becoming more and more important. If learners doing learning without the support of knowledge structure map, it will cause learning alone problem. In order to construct a real KSM, we targeted the MIS domain. By using the National Dissertation and Thesis Abstract System as input source, we first extract different research subjects from keywords and then calculate the relation strength between each keyword pairs. An automatic approach has been developed for constructing KSM for different periods of time. The constructed KSM can help learners to reduce learning alone and provide a good reference for new researchers to seek for related research directions. The proposed method can also be applied to enterprises. They can adopt this method to construct any specific KSM corresponding to their professional domain, the constructed KSM would help new employee to learn better. Furthermore, with the support of KSM, CEO can make a better decision as the KSM would contain internal and external competitive advantages about future directions.

The determinants of participation in voluntary association: An empirical analysis of social service organization.

Chiu, Po-ching 20 June 2000 (has links)
The voluntary association is the mediate between society and individuals; it serves as a prime engine for social changes. Therefore, it is very important to find out who the voluntary association participants are. Previous research has focused primarily on demographic attributes of voluntary association participants. In addition to the demographic factors, this study investigates the effects of job characteristics, work-related attitudes, perceptions of social inequality, and resource constrains on the probability of participation. Based on 1996 ¡§ Taiwan Social Change Survey,¡¨ this study uses logistic regression to model the determinants of participation in voluntary associations of more than 2000 respondents. The result shows that job satisfaction is negatively associated with participation rate and job stability has a positive effect on participation. With respect to the perceived causes of social inequality, situational attribution is positively correlated with probability of participation. Finally, respondents with lower family responsibilities and higher income are more likely to participate in voluntary association.

The Research on Finding Generalized Association Rules from Library Circulation Records

Hung, Chin-Yuan 02 August 2001 (has links)
Abstract Libraries have long been widely recognized as import information-offering institutes. Thousands of new books are acquired per month by our university¡Xa mid-sized university in Taiwan), and patrons may have difficulties identifying the small set of books that really interest them. This gives rise to the problem of finding an effective way to recommend patrons the newly arrived books in a library. In this work, we address this problem in finding generalized association rules between patrons and books. We first discuss how to identify relevant but independent patron attributes in regard of the books they checked out. Then, we propose a set of algorithms for generating large itemsets and evaluate their performance experimentally. In addition, we define interestingness of rules and propose an algorithm for pruning uninteresting rules. Finally, we apply our approach to the circulation data of National SUN Yat-Sen University library and report our experiences.

Studies on Asian-Pacific Policies of Taiwan in the Post Cold-War Era

Lin, Meng-Ting 24 August 2001 (has links)
Abstract The international organizations are regionalization in the Post-Cold War Era . In Asian-Pacific region , the Asian-Pacific Economic Cooperation and the Association of Southeast are the most important international organizations . In order to adapt the trend of regionalization and to join this two international organizations , Taiwan makes a series of the political¡Beconomic and social culture policies , but the members of this two organizations do not change the attitude toward Taiwan and still recognize ¡§One China ¡§ policy . Up to now Taiwan still could not participate high level councils of the Asian-Pacific Economic Cooperation and also could not join the Association of Southeast as sovereign state . The reason why is not only the political pressure from China but also the members of this two organizations have more interests in economic and political cooperation with China than Taiwan.

The research of relationship between recognition of changing in external environment, career anchor and willing to resign from job. An example of credit department of farmers¡¦ association in Taipei county.

Chen, Chien-Lang 26 January 2002 (has links)
Abstract Title of dissertation¡GThe research of relationship between recognition of changing in external environment, career anchor and willing to resign from job. An example of credit department of farmers¡¦ association in Taipei county. Outline of dissertation¡G The role of credit department of farmers¡¦ association was quite important in the early age of agricultural development in Taiwan. However, the survival opportunity of those organizations has been affected by revolution of ages, changing in society and external environment in Taiwan. This research will focus on the point of view of employees who work for credit department of farmers¡¦ association. Their viewpoints are influenced by the establishment of sixteen private banks which resulted in strong competition in banking industry in 1991 to depositors who wanted to withdraw their money eagerly from fundamental financial institutions because those organizations were in the edge of bankruptcy until Taiwan joins World Trade Organization ¡]WTO¡^. It conducts 203 questioners from employees who work for 10-credit department of a farmers¡¦ associations, which locate on Taipei County. The results of this research result from the statistical analysis of four variables. They are the cognition of changing in external environment; career anchor, willing to resign and the outbound after resign. According to the results of statistic, there are eight features: 1¡B Different employees have obvious differences in recognition of changing environment, career anchor, resigned willing and outbound after resign. 2¡B There is positive relation between the level of business environment crisis recognition and resigned willing. 3¡B There is negative relation between cognition of future development of organization and resigned willing. 4¡B The level of business environment crisis recognition has a little bit of positive relation with outbound after resign. 5¡B Career anchor has obvious affect to resign willing and outbound after resign. 6¡B The interaction between level of business environment crisis recognition and anchor of security of job and service/challenge has a little bit of influence to resigned willing. 7¡B The interaction between level of recognition for development of organization in the future and gender has a little bit of influence to resigned willing. 8¡B Different dimensions in cognition of environmental variation have obvious difference with career anchor. According to the results of research, there are six suggestions to credit department of farmers¡¦ association as follows¡G1.reposition the strategies of organization. 2. Re-examine core products and core competence. 3. Breed the human resource that has knowledge management ability. 4. Breed the people who have ability to select strategy. 5. Carry out the demand in training. 6. Respect the career development and career anchor of employees. Keywords: business environment, career anchor, resign, outbound after resign, farmers¡¦ association

Constructing Knowledge Map from the Web

Sun, Chen-Kai 18 July 2002 (has links)
Abstract Knowledge map, like the ¡§Yellow Pages¡¨ of knowledge, indicates where knowledge is and how to get it, but doesn¡¦t contain knowledge. The principal purpose of a knowledge map is to show domain expert when someone need expertise. The principal purpose of a knowledge map is to enhance the efficiency to find the exact expertise someone need. In this digital age, it is a trend for e-learning learners to search knowledge on the Internet. However, when learners try to explore knowledge, they will confront the two important problems:¡ucognitive disorientation¡v and ¡uinformation overloading¡v. This research bases on the function of search engine on the Internet, extract the keywords on the web document, and then analyze the relationship between the keywords appearing on web page. So, we can develop the process of knowledge mapping to construct integrated Knowledge Map (KM). It can reduce the cost and time that is essential for the traditional method. With guidance of the KM, learners can find specific knowledge or discover knowledge relationships more effectively when exploring on the Internet. The contributions of this survey are as followings: Collecting keywords of knowledge automatically, Constructing knowledge relation graph, Constructing knowledge hierarchy graph, and Constructing knowledge time trend graph.

Extracting relationships of research topics in information-related domain by analyzing thesis

Chen, Dao-hui 02 July 2003 (has links)
With the coming of knowledge management era, academic institutions also begin to engage in knowledge management (KM) activities, hoping that researchers can understand the relationship between research topics. However, most of the KM activities focusing on academic papers need research¡¦s effort to code and classify paper¡¦s content, and there is still no measurement of relationship between research topics from prior researches. Therefore, this thesis will propose a methodology to measure the relationship between research topics and grab the data of National Central Library from internet to construct a knowledge relationship system. This system will analyze both dissertation¡¦s and thesis¡¦ content, such as keywords, abstracts, etc., and calculate two measurements that are relation strength and relation similarity to assess the direct and indirect relationship between two research topics. Moreover, this thesis found a phenomenon that there is high diversity of Chinese keyword¡¦s usage and the Chinese translation of English keyword. To overcome this incident, the database for Chinese keywords is built. This database will excerpt the mapping of Chinese keywords usage and its translation from the abstract of thesis. Finally, the trend of research topics in information-related domain using different aspects, such as different years, different schools and different departments are analyzed. The result of analysis includes:
