Eine Torte für das Lesen

Schamberger, Anja 04 September 2008 (has links)

[en] DANTE AS POET OF THE UNITY: ERICH AUERBACH AND THE GERMAN DANTOLOGY OF THE 1920-1930S / [pt] DANTE COMO POETA DA UNIDADE: ERICH AUERBACH E A DANTOLOGIA ALEMÃ DOS ANOS 1920-1930

PATRICIA DA SILVA REIS 22 July 2021 (has links)
[en] This thesis consists of an intertextual study in which the main goal is to examine how Erich Auerbach, a reader of Dante, absorbed the previous and contemporary reception of the Florentine poet in Germany. Its objective is to reflect on the concept of unity as an interpretive key for The Divine Comedy, whose implications in the auerbachian reflection would assume a dimension that is both epistemological and ethical. When observing the long path of Dante s readers on German soil, it became clear that the history of opinions traced by the philologist contained numerous omissions, which, far from reflecting nescience, marked his position in the minefield that characterized the German Dantology from the first two decades of the twentieth century. Then, the 19th-century phase of the critique on Dante s work is analyzed in its philological-historical aspect, in which the question of the comedy s unity would assume the disciplinary and methodological horizon solidified by Croce and Vossler in the following years. Lastly, the studies produced by Auerbach in the 1920s and 1930s are investigated to highlight the theoretical and political rivalries that cut across the academic environment in which he was inserted. Among the interpretative trends that were established after the First World War, the search for the present relevance of The Comedy for German society is highlighted. On the one hand, this inclination was used as the basis for chauvinistic and racialist readings of Dante s work, and on the other, it supported the defense of the unity of European culture that, to some extent, his poem would allow to glimpse. Auerbach s texts are placed in the second category since in Dante s verses he found the meaning of his involvement in the world as a European philologist.

Polystylism and Motivic Connections in Lera Auerbach's 24 Preludes for Piano, op. 41

Mendez, Meily J. January 2016 (has links)
Russian-born American composer, Lera Auerbach (b. 1973), is a pianist and composer with a growing reputation. She has written nearly a dozen works for solo piano in addition to ballets, operas, chamber works, and other solo instrumentations. Her solo piano work 24 Preludes for Piano, op. 41 (1998) is the first of three prelude sets she has written; op. 41 is scored for solo piano, op. 46 is composed for violin and piano, and op. 47 is written for cello and piano. Throughout her works, Auerbach's compositional language is intuitively polystylistic, tonally centered, and couched in traditional forms. In her 24 Preludes for Piano, op. 41, Auerbach creates a polystylistic and motivically cohesive large-scale work of the individual preludes. In this document, three aspects of the 24 Preludes for Piano, op. 41 are discussed in two parts: form, most significant polystylistic influences, and most prominent motivic connections. The first part of the document investigates two aspects: the form of each prelude and several polystylistic influences. Auerbach uses form to give each short prelude structure; ABA and Arch forms are most often used. Each of the preludes demonstrates different polystylistic elements; she refers to various genres such as the ricercar and chorale prelude as well as various techniques including stretto and additive rhythms. Additionally, Auerbach pays polystylistic homage to different composers including Bartók, Debussy, Mussorgsky, Purcell, Ravel and others. The second part of the document demonstrates several of the underlying motivic connections that unify the collection. The cohesion is created through self-referencing motivic connections that are best heard when the set of twenty-four is performed in its entirety. Auerbach's series of polystylistic miniatures is also an organically unified large-scale work.

Englander, Jenny January 2010 (has links)

Hänel, Petra, Schamberger, Anja 16 July 2015 (has links) (PDF)

The current dissertation seeks to present the contribution of the Jew-German philologist, Erick Auerbach (1892-1957) to the biblical reception to Modernity. Auerbach, who was one of the main literary critics of the XX century, redeems the exemplary interpretation on which historical, factual, distant in time events are connected through a verticalisation. The figural model was the mean by which the Bible was established, granting to it some unity, and it was used for a long period in the Middle Age. Auerbach saw in this model the best form of representation and interpretation of the Realism, reason why he implemented it in his literary critical. There is an understanding that the biblical literature, with its mixture of styles, accrued the path on which the modern literary realism flourished, which, in Auerbach, was seen on several realisms. The exemplary interpretation brings a new focus over the cultural and historical distancing. Auerbach saw them as positives for the establishing of the figural interpretation, because in the figural model, the historical lapse is a condition for the interpretation. And one of the forms to connect the reader to the text and establish the causal links of the figural poles is the concept of "Ansatz" which, in the case of the biblical reception, lays down a unity for the text comprehension. This comprehension demands a humble stance from the reader. Auerbach also recognizes the polysemy nature of the biblical text, but points to the casting of the interpretation, caused by the creation of dogmas promoted by the Church, which ended generating the abandonment of the figural model, and a misuse, when not a loss, of the biblical narratives approaches. To Auerbach, the narratives summarizes the power of attraction of the biblical text, because the biblical characters beyond being equal to the other men, live the same tragedies, in which suffer a shaping process. From this identification, the reader starts to incorporate the figural model once it becomes incorporated to the figural poles. The full reception of the biblical message will entail in the consummation in the reader's life, setting his reality. And in the reader will happen both the fulfillment and completion phenomena, presents in the figural interpretation. And on these two elements (fulfillment and completion) lies the basis of the Christian hope experience and living.
