Ces résultats donnent les conditions de la durabilité d’une filière de type LORVER / Marginal materials and lands (brownfields, byproducts, inert wastes), the management of which causes significant environmental impacts, can be valorized through soil construction in order to grow nonfood biomass (e.g. fiber, energy). This may reduce their volume and increase use of renewable resources without direct or indirect competition with food crops or biodiversity. This thesis assesses the sustainability of such supply chains with Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), considered one of the most pertinent existing methods. This thesis introduces indicators complementary to current use, in order to improve LCA’s exhaustivity and its taking into account of marginal lands’ specificities. It prioritizes impacts with respect to planetary boundaries (i.e. maximum impacts levels acceptable to avoid ecosystem disruption), average impacts in studied geographic context and added value of the supply chains. Most of these suggestions are applied to the study of a soil construction process using inert and organic wastes (LORVER). The high diversity of materials and alternative management strategies and the most certain tradeoffs and critical parameters are assessed combining uncertainty and multidimensional analysis tools. Constructed soil’s ability to stabilize carbon and pollutants is demonstrated to be its major condition for sustainability. For other impacts (ecosystem services, air quality, resources), LORVER is even less pertinent when the need for material transportation increases, and more importantly if those materials could have otherwise been used to replace commodities polluting to produce. These results highlight when LORVER can be seen as sustainable

The processes of metropolization and its extensions in the formation of global cityregions are experienced in large urban-industrial agglomerations of flexible and globalized capitalism of today. These processes act spatially in at least two directions: first, the expansion of urban-industrial forms of cities, often surpassing their formal boundaries; second, the intensification of internal transformations of the metropolis, and the redefinition of its forms and contents. In this last process, the old forms of the industrial city present in the current consolidated industrial metropolis emerge as "industrial cemeteries" (brownfields). The study of Porto Alegre metropolitan area’s industrial cemeteries, presented in this thesis, analyzes the inclusion of spatial forms in its current complexity. We start from the historic rescue of its formation as a industrial city and its subsequent metropolization, concentration and reconcentration processes, that currently characterizes it as a metropolis of services. Then, we work the different theoretical approaches in studies of industrial cemeteries. The old industrial area of Porto Alegre - Quarto Distrito neighborhood - is the case study on which we concentrate, and the analysis is performed through the integration of industrial space in three logics: global, regional and local logic. We conclude that industrial cemeteries, residual spaces of the industrial city in the metropolis, are unevenly inserted in the different circuits of urban accumulation. Brněnské nábřeží - rehabilitace brněnských řek a jejich blízkého okolí / Brno waterfront - rehabilitation of rivers and their surrounding areasVrána, Adam January 2017 (has links)
The aim of the assignment was to rehabilitate the area of the Brno embankment of the river Svitava and the nearby surroundings of the river. This is the modification of the river's seashore, the modification of public spaces and the completion of individual objects. The solved territory is defined in the east and north of Cejl streets, on the east of the Svitava river and on the south by Tkalcovska street. The principles of the proposal are based on the necessary changes to the territory. The biggest problem of the area is the area backups for the hypermarket parking lot and the urbanistically incoherent structure of the courtyards and the poorly functioning waterfront. The proposal focuses on making the river accessible and bringing water closer to people. On the waterfront the bicycle path is used not only by cyclists. The former hypermarket is converted into a shopping mall and the ground floor of the seafront is made up of shops, services, cafes and restaurants. For humans, a river was available that could touch water. For relaxation and recreation, the terraces are provided. Better permeability also offers the river itself. By modifying the footbridge and delivering a new footbridge in the middle part, pedicists and cyclists can better cross the river. The park and the reclamation of planted trees have been modified. The Svitavy Drive in the section of the park was also accessible by foot. The siding was preserved to a certain extent in order to be able to prepare a wagon with a café or other possibilities of the Svitava festival under the steam. The construction of new houses increases the attractiveness of the area itself and offers both flats overlooking the river with the dominant of the church as well as services in the workshops of the individual houses. Cejl street has a green and a plumbing and a missing pit. Transparency for people is from the weft loom on the waterfront through the park, business or residential street.Residential homes have ma

Město místo továrny / The City instead of the FactoryVaculovičová, Vanda January 2011 (has links)
Architectural and urban design for the reconversion of the part of the Old Brno (former textil fabric of the company Kras and surrounding areas) based on the existing structure of the Old Brno and ideas of compact city (mixing functions> multipurpose buildings, the divergence between private and public space, higher density of the city ...) The work consists of several parts: planning studies, design transportation solutions, waterfront Svratka concept and design for the multifunctional block on the waterfront. What is important is the idea of calming waterfront Svratka (sheltering services to the proposed tunnel and the cancellation of barrier between the city and the river). The waterfront district should become after more attractive location and provide a space for sport, recreation and afternoon walks. There is a block of multipurpose buildings on the waterfront. A corporate underground garage, which is under the block, should be build by a strong investor / city. After underground garage completion, the site will be divided into several parcels and these will be rented to various long-term investors .Tenants can build buildings on them according to their needs. It is possible to build buildings above the garage in sequence development. The project is just one of many options. Individual buildings are design in scale 1:200
