Considerando que a história da ciência pode constituir uma ferramenta útil para o ensino de ciência, o objetivo desta dissertação é inicialmente apresentar um material histórico para o ensino e aprendizagem de genética no nível médio. Este diz respeito ao desenvolvimento do conceito de linkage no período compreendido entre 1902 e 1915. A partir deste estudo histórico foi elaborada uma sequência didática com o intuito de auxiliar no ensino e aprendizagem deste conceito. Na construção desta levou-se em conta tanto a dimensão epistêmica como a dimensão pedagógica, considerando o processo de elaboração, métodos e validação do conhecimento científico conforme proposto por Méheut (2005). Esta dissertação compreende uma introdução e três capítulos. O Capítulo 1 discute as relações entre história da ciência e o ensino e aprendizagem de genética. O Capítulo 2 apresenta um estudo histórico sobre as explicações para as características que eram herdadas juntas até da proposta do linkage. O Capítulo 3 oferece uma sequência didática. Espera-se que o material elaborado para ser trabalhado em sala de aula possa contribuir para o entendimento do conceito de linkage e mostrar aspectos sobre a natureza da ciência (NDC) tais como: os cientistas podem mudar de ideia; resultados experimentais semelhantes podem ser interpretados à luz de teorias diferentes; e o empreendimento científico é resultado de um trabalho coletivo. / Taking into account that history of science can be an useful tool for the teaching of science, the aim of this dissertation is firstly to present a historical material to the learning and teaching of Genetics in High school. It is related to the growth of the concept of linkage. Departing from this historical study, it presents a teaching-learning sequence, which may assist the teaching and learning of this concept. In the building of such teaching-learning sequence it was taken into account both the pedagogical and epistemic dimensions, considering the drafting process, methods and validation of scientific knowledge, proposed by Méheut (2005). This dissertation comprises an introduction and three chapters. Chapter 1 discusses the relations between history of science and the learning and teaching of genetics. Chapter 2 presents a historical study of the explanations for characteristics which are inherited together until the proposal of linkage. Chapter 3 offers a teaching-learning sequence. It is hoped that the historical material elaborated, to be worked in the classroom could contribute to the understanding of the concept of linkage showing aspects of nature of science (NDC) such us: similar experimental results may be interpreted according different theories; the scientists may change their mind; and that science endeavor results from a collective work.

Purpose - Considering personality as changeable through a bottom-up process of altering states, habits and traits, constitutes a shift in the predominant paradigm within personality psychology. The purpose of this paper is to reconsider Bateson's theory of learning and organizational triple-loop learning in light of this recent empirical evidence. Design/methodology/approach - This paper uses a multi-disciplinary conceptual approach. Based on an integrative analysis of literature from recent work in personality psychology, four dimensions (process, content, time and context) are identified that allow linking personality change and triple-loop learning. Findings - Identifying a bottom-up process of changing states, habits and traits as being central to change personality, allows for reconsidering Bateson's theory of learning as a theory of personality development (Learning II) and personality change (Learning III). Functionally equivalent, organizational triple-loop learning is conceptualized as a change in an organization's identity over time that may be facilitated through a change in responding to events and a change in the organization's routines. Practical implications - Interventions that change how organizations respond to events and that change the routines within an organization may be suitable to facilitate triple-loop learning in terms of changing organizational identity over time. Originality/value - This paper contributes to the discussion on Bateson's theory of learning and organizational triple-loop learning. As interest in personality change grows in organization studies, this paper aims to transfer these findings to organizational learning.

Assim, através de Deleuze, Stengers, Despret e Latour, outros modelos científicos e epistemológicos serão apresentados, contribuindo para uma melhor compreensão do pensamento de Bateson. / This study aims to discuss the concept of double bind, presented in the researches about paradox in human communication developed by the Palo Alto school, under the coordination of Gregory Bateson. For that, it will analyze in which manners the concept of paradox was used by philosophy and mathematics studies in some moments of the knowledge history, always opposing to Truth and Science. In this way, through Deleuze, Stengers, Despret and Latour, other scientific and epistemological designs will be presented, contributing to a better comprehension of Batesons ideas.

A obra - recentemente traduzida para o português - trata do estudo de uma cerimônia homônima ao título praticada pelos Iatmul, tribo da Nova Guiné, em meados dos anos 1930, destinada a congratular o filho de uma irmã por um feito considerado adulto. Em Naven, após trezentas páginas com uma analise tripla do ritual (etológica, sociológica e estrutural), Bateson apresenta 28 pranchas fotográficas totalizando 49 fotografias. Pretendemos, através de uma perspectiva heurística, trazer a tona esta obra pouco estuda nos meios acadêmicos brasileiros, realizando uma reflexão sobre o trabalho fotográfico de Bateson contido em Naven. Valendo-me de um olhar antropológico, mas não deixando de lado o artístico, analisamos as pranchas fotográficas realizadas pelo autor. O intuito é o de trazer uma colaboração à história da Antropologia Visual, a fim que se possa no futuro fazer avanços metodológicos, além de diversificados, neste campo de investigação. / Abstract: The objective of this dissertation is to investigate the role played by câmera images in the Gregory Bateson's work Naven. The work - recently translated into Portuguese - deals with the study of a ceremony homonymous to the title practiced by the Iatmul, tribe in New Guinea, in mid 1930, intended to welcome the son of a sister for an accomplishment considered adult. In Naven, after three hundred pages with a triple review of the ritual (ethological, sociological and structural), Bateson presents 28 photographic plates totaling 49 photographs. We intend, through a heuristic perspective, to bring forward this book little studied in academic circles in Brazil, performing a reflection on the photographic work contained in Bateson's Naven. Availing myself of an anthropological view, but without leaving aside the artistic, we analyze the photographic plates taken by the author. The aim is to bring a contribution to the history of Visual Anthropology, in order to be able to do in the future methodological advances, and diverse in this field of research. / Mestrado / Mestre em Multimeios

Emphasizing on feminility, as one way of approaching the multiples versions of the world, the research moves from talks with women who narrate their personal stories and fantastic tales, and, photographic observations of the nature an details of their homes in this shared space. In this dissertation, Wallace Stevens' imagination-reality problem as depicted in his poetry is discussed in terms of an eco-critical map-territory divide. Stevens's metaphor of "the necessary angel" acts to mediate human necessity, the map, with natural necessity, the territory, in order to retain contact with changing cultural and environmental conditions. At stake in this mediation are individual freedom and the pertinence of the imagination to the experience of reality. In Chapter 2, the attempt at reconciliation of these two necessities will be described in terms of surrealism. Stevens's particular approach to surrealism emphasizes separating and delineating natural necessity from human necessity so that through the poem the reader can experience the miracle of their reconciliation. In Chapter 3, this delineation of the two necessities, map and territory, will be examined against Modernist "decreation," which is the stripping bare of human perception for the purpose of regaining glimpses of the first idea of the external world. And in Chapter 4, Stevens's approach to the problem of the map-territory divide will be considered against his alienation or internal exile: balancing nature and identity through mediating fictions results in a compromised approach to the marriage of mind and culture in a historically situated place.

La tesis tiene como principal objetivo analizar la idea de la comunicación en el pensamiento de Gregory Bateson. La primera parte de esta investigación trata sobre la biografía y la obra de Bateson. La segunda parte explora sobre las bases teóricas de la comunicación según Bateson, entre las que reconoce el psicoanálisis, la psicología de la forma (Gestalt), el interaccionismo simbólico y las teorías del aprendizaje como aportes centrales. Con los conceptos claves de estas teorías: inconsciente, puntuación e interacción, Bateson discute y perfila la complejidad de su propia postura postmoderna y ecológica de la mente respecto a la comunicación. La tesis en su tercera parte se concentra en el desarrollo de tres conceptos claves con los que Bateson aborda la comunicación desde una perspectiva sistémica y epistemológica apoyada en la cibernética y desde un enfoque interdisciplinario en dialogo con la antropología, la biología, la psiquiatría y la filosofía. Los conceptos trabajados son: Cismogénesis, Homeostasis Familiar y Retroalimentación Regenerativa. / The main objective of the thesis is to analyze Gregory Bateson´s communication idea. The first part of this investigation deals with Bateson's biography and academic work. The second part of this research explores the theoretical bases of communication according to the thought of Gregory Bateson. Psychoanalysis, the Psychology of Form (Gestalt), Symbolic Interactionism and theories of learning stand out as central contributions. With the key concepts of these theories: unconscious, punctuation, interaction and perception; discusses and profiles to Bateson´s postmodern and ecological proposal on the interaction of the mind and communication. The third part of the thesis focuses on the development of four key concepts used by Bateson to show the importance and complexity of communication from a systemic and epistemological perspective. Supported by cybernetics and from an interdisciplinary approach including anthropology, biology, psychiatry and philosophy, Bateson develops the concepts of Schismogenesis, Family Homeostasis, and Regenerative Feedback.

This work tries to elucidate the main reasons that lead important geneticists of that time, particular1yThomas Hunt Morgan and William Bateson, to delay for a long time the acceptance that Mendelian factors (later called genes) were physical entities located in some definite points a!ong the chromosomes.
