Veränderung der Emotionsverarbeitung depressiver Patienten - eine EEG-Studie - / Alterations in emotion processing of depressive patients using EEG

Popp, Hanna Margitta January 2017 (has links) (PDF)
The aim of this study is to examine the alterations in emotion processing of depressive patients compared to a healthy control group. The EEG serves as gauge as it is a non-invasive, sensitive method representing changes in emotional reactions via ERPs. In order to evaluate effectivity of psychotherapy with objective factors we want to develope a paradigm which can determine emotion processing of depressive patients. In the EEG we consider N170, a ERP which highly specific for eyes and further also for facial expression. EPN as one of the earliest reactions to emotional stimuli deflects to higher extend to those emotional stimuli than to neutral ones. Our third element is P300 which is also sensitive for emotional mien.

Essays on spatial and behavioral analytics for platform design

Lee, Kyungmin (Brad) 17 July 2020 (has links)
The design and operation of a two-sided platform require a variety of decisions to facilitate a match between sellers (capacity) and buyers (demand). Many platforms deploy analytic capabilities to leverage rich information, on both demand and capacity, that is available in real-time. This dissertation research explores design decisions, such as price structure and quality controls, and allied analytic capabilities in order to document their impact on platform governance. These decisions are tested in the context of ride-sharing platform by positing three fundamental challenges that must be accounted for effective design: (1) spatial distribution of capacity and demand that allows for capacity spillovers, (2) buyer’s sentiment biases, and (3) seller’s relocation biases. These challenges are assessed in three separate but related essays. The first essay investigates how the policies for setting surge prices should be designed under capacity spillovers. Using a data set from Uber’s operations, we estimate a spatial panel model to reveal its surge pricing structure that accounts for spatial dependency. Allied counterfactual analysis illustrates the limitations of a spot pricing policy (i.e., a policy that does not account for spillovers). The second essay assesses the impact of buyer’s sentiment bias, ranging from optimism to pessimism, on the platform’s decision to control seller quality. Platforms face a trade-off between ensuring high-quality sellers and guaranteeing enough sellers such that wait-time is lowered. We formally characterize an optimal exclusion threshold on seller quality in the presence of sentiment bias. We also examine strategies that a platform can access to benefit from buyer’s behavioral biases. Results document the impact of seller quality on a platform’s profitability and social welfare. In the last essay, we focus on the seller’s relocation behavior. There is a debate in the literature on whether sellers’ willingness to relocate across demand zones in order to chase surging prices is rewarded in a ride-sharing platform setting. Using multiple machine learning algorithms, we classify rewarding behaviors with different pricing structures under a variety of circumstances. Results provide guidance on how to provide incentives while managing the dynamics of spatially distributed capacity.

Behaviorální analýza a pachatelé sériových, masových a sexuálně motivovaných vražd / The behavioral analysis and serial, mass and sexual murders

Babičková, Klára January 2016 (has links)
My diploma thesis deals with the behavioural analysis and perpetrators of serial, mass and sexually motivated murders issue. The behavioural analysis is built upon bases of different methods of criminal profiles formation - psychological profiling. Following the historical outset of the criminal profile, the method of the behavioural analysis and its particular components are introduced and discussed. The components are described through optic of the most commonly used typologies, e.g. perpetrators typologies, scenes of delict, victims and murders. Hereafter I pursue issue of criminal profiling utilization in practise, particularly perpetrator profile creation, crime linking and threat assessment. The last part dedicated to the behavioural analysis consists of behavioural analysis historical development in the Czech Republic and reflection of potential future development of this issue. The second part of my diploma thesis is focused on serial murder and serial perpetrator. The definition of multiple murder and differentiation from its individual types is given. The following part comprises of introduction of the most common myths and stereotypes ingrained in the society and through statistics their creation and falseness is explained. The phenomenon of the hypothetical murderer is reached through...

Behavior based malware classification using online machine learning / Classification des logiciels malveillants basée sur le comportement à l'aide de l'apprentissage automatique en ligne

Pektaş, Abdurrahman 10 December 2015 (has links)
Recently, malware, short for malicious software has greatly evolved and became a major threat to the home users, enterprises, and even to the governments. Despite the extensive use and availability of various anti-malware tools such as anti-viruses, intrusion detection systems, firewalls etc., malware authors can readily evade these precautions by using obfuscation techniques. To mitigate this problem, malware researchers have proposed various data mining and machine learning approaches for detecting and classifying malware samples according to the their static or dynamic feature set. Although the proposed methods are effective over small sample set, the scalability of these methods for large data-set are in question. Moreover, it is well-known fact that the majority of the malware is the variant of the previously known samples. Consequently, the volume of new variant created far outpaces the current capacity of malware analysis. Thus developing malware classification to cope with increasing number of malware is essential for security community. The key challenge in identifying the family of malware is to achieve a balance between increasing number of samples and classification accuracy. To overcome this limitation, unlike existing classification schemes which apply machine learning algorithm to stored data, i.e., they are off-line, we proposed a new malware classification system employing online machine learning algorithms that can provide instantaneous update about the new malware sample by following its introduction to the classification scheme. To achieve our goal, firstly we developed a portable, scalable and transparent malware analysis system called VirMon for dynamic analysis of malware targeting Windows OS. VirMon collects the behavioral activities of analyzed samples in low kernel level through its developed mini-filter driver. Secondly we set up a cluster of five machines for our online learning framework module (i.e. Jubatus), which allows to handle large scale of data. This configuration allows each analysis machine to perform its tasks and delivers the obtained results to the cluster manager.Essentially, the proposed framework consists of three major stages. The first stage consists in extracting the behavior of the sample file under scrutiny and observing its interactions with the OS resources. At this stage, the sample file is run in a sandboxed environment. Our framework supports two sandbox environments: VirMon and Cuckoo. During the second stage, we apply feature extraction to the analysis report. The label of each sample is determined by using Virustotal, an online multiple anti-virus scanner framework consisting of 46 engines. Then at the final stage, the malware dataset is partitioned into training and testing sets. The training set is used to obtain a classification model and the testing set is used for evaluation purposes .To validate the effectiveness and scalability of our method, we have evaluated our method on 18,000 recent malicious files including viruses, trojans, backdoors, worms, etc., obtained from VirusShare, and our experimental results show that our method performs malware classification with 92% of accuracy.

Efforts to improve brazilian education are common in the current context that urges for changes when it is examined from data indicating deficiencies in various aspects, including the own teaching-learning process. The crisis in education extends to a crisis of values on which remains necessary to participate in the search for solutions, the various social groups and institutions, including the school, held responsible, next to the family, the education of children and youth in relation to ethical values indispensable for the exercise of citizenship. In this context, the objectives of this study were: 1) to identify, describe and analyze the definitions of ethics and pro-ethical behavior used by teachers in the school context and educational proposals of these behaviors at school; 2) identify the teacher's role in teaching-learning process of pro-ethical behavior; 3) raising needs and alternative solutions to designs for strengthening and consolidating the teaching of relevant pro-ethical behavior for people from participating schools. Participated 75 teachers and 10 managers from six public schools in a city in the interior of São Paulo. Teachers answered a questionnaire and managers to interview, in order to identify the important school context characteristics for cultural planning. The results show that teachers seek to teach pro-ethical behaviors often in situations of behavior and abuse problems, aiming to change student behavior. There is little clarity about what is expected of students in this perspective, and teaching happens informally, without systematic guidelines. The main demands identified for intervention refer to students' behavior problems and the absence of the family in school, and in this sense, interventions can be made to strengthen the cultural practices related to the teaching pro-ethical behavior students, based on behavioral analytical strategies, such as format of continuing education for teachers.

The relationship between Behavior Analysis (BA) and technology is not new. From the beginning Skinner took advantage of such relationship to develop creative solutions that shaped the directions of the science he studied. Skinner has also always pointed the need for behavioral analysts to engage in social and cultural issues, but until recently this was a relatively neglected field by most researchers in the area. Those who take on such a challenge are faced with discussions indicating the need for solutions to social problems involving technological trends and that are not so limited by constraints of space and time. In this sense, social networks are introduced. The number of these networks‟ users is increasing, along with time they spend connected. This study seeks to present Facebook as a useful tool for cultural planning, based on 1) quantitative analysis of the number of likes, comments and shares, as well as the form the content was presented in the publications and 2) qualitative analysis of publications and comments observed on Curitiba‟s City hall Facebook page, based on the concept of three-term contingency. Through analysis it was possible to point out the use of the social network as a tool that can put citizens in contact with the collective and long-term effects of their behavior, establish rules and specify contingencies, and enable citizens to participate in the public policies debate. Finally, we point out some strategies observed on the city hall‟s page and in literature that can extend the reach of cultural design. / FAPESP: 2015/12096-8

The rise in the number of financial operations through the internet boosted the increase in the attacks to connected users. These attacks are normally made by malware, software that make malicious actions in the user machine, such as interception of sensitive data, like passwords and card numbers. To minimize the compromise by malware, anti-virus mechanisms are frequently used, software that usually finds and removes malware. Such detection are normally made through signatures - strings that help in the identification - or heuristics. However, this approach can be easily subverted, making the identification of malware ineffective. To avoid this problem, it's used another detection approach, where the binary behavior is analyzed. The proposed work aims to develop a prototype of a malware analysis system which may generate behavior profiles, which can serve as an input to malware detection tools / Mestrado / Ciência da Computação / Mestre em Ciência da Computação
