Previous issue date: 2008-02-15 / Coordena??o de Aperfei?oamento de Pessoal de N?vel Superior / The knowledge of Anastrepha zenildae behavioral aspects combined with the biology of Tephritidae may contribute to monitoring and control programs of this fruit fly that is considered as economically important to the Rio Grande do Norte state. In order to characterize the daily activity profile of this species, we studied the behaviors of resting, locomotion, feeding, cleaning, courtship, copulation and
oviposition of animals submitted to an artificial 12:12h light-dark cycle (750:1lux) with controlled temperature (26?2 ?C). The observations were made with groups of 16 males and 16 females during 3 consecutive days each generation from parental to F5. Resting, locomotion, feeding and cleaning data were recorded as frequency and time of occurrence by scanning technique in 15 minutes windows per hour, with a record each minute. Courtship, copulation and oviposition were recorded as frequency, time of occurrence and duration by al occurrences technique. Resting was the most frequent behavior with males resting more than females. Locomotion was more evident in the first half of the ligh phase with higher values in females. Cleaning and feeding behaviors were more frequent in the second half of the light phase for both sexes with females eating more frequently than males. During the courtship, males were grouped in lek formations showing wings vibration and pheromone liberation. Courtship occurred
more frequently 4 to 7 h after lights on (81,9%) with copulations being more frequent 6 h after lights on with a mean duration of 58,1?40,4 min. Copulation attempts were observed in males inside and outside the lek with aggressive behavior being observed only between males in the lek. Oviposition behavior was similar to that described for other species of the genus with a peak of this activity 2-3 h after the lights on, mean duration of 43, 7?34, 8 sec and 2 to 5 eggs by event. According to the results, sexual behavior of A. zenildae is temporally different of other sympatric species of the genus, being favorable to the
reproductive isolation as well as the use of resources as oviposition substrate.

Previous issue date: 2010-09-30 / In most primates, the mother is primarily responsible for care in early life of the infants,
since, as in other mammals, infants depend on their mother to nutritional conditions. However,
unlike most of them, in some species, infants are also dependent on other individuals with respect
to transportation, supervision, and food sharing. To understand the distribution of care to
offspring is essential to understand the social dynamics of the group. Several studies conducted in
the natural environment, during the infant have been studied mainly through the careful transport
of the infants. Our study approached the different forms of care to infants (transport, supervision
and food sharing) and the development of behavioral repertoire throughout all phases of infant
and juvenile seeking to better understand how to establish the development and survival of
offspring of Callithrix jacchus, in natural environment. The seasonality in the caatinga was
striking in this study and the collection had two distinct seasons for each of the sets observed, one
dry and one rainy. These environmental changes seem to have influenced the distribution of
activities in animal development. Yet the greater availability of resources in the rainy season
seems to have been the main factor influencing the pattern of activities. Results will be presented
conhecer a din?mica social do grupo.
No nosso

Previous issue date: 2012-03-27 / Coordena??o de Aperfei?oamento de Pessoal de N?vel Superior / In order to characterize the seasonal and daily rhythm of Dinoponera quadriceps
foraging activity in natural environment, four colonies of D. quadriceps were observed
in an area of secondary Atlantic forest in northeastern Brazil. Data collection was
performed during 72 hours every three months during an annual cycle. Colonies of D.
quadriceps exhibited seasonal variation in foraging activity, peaking in the early dry
season, followed by a sudden decline at the end of this season and increasing again at
the late rainy season. The seasonal rhythm of foraging was positively related to the
duration of the daylight and luminosity, and negatively to the time of sunrise and
rainfall. Regarding the daily rhythm, foraging activity was predominantly diurnal
independent of season. At the early dry season, the colonies had two activity peaks, one
in the morning and another in the afternoon, with a decrease in foraging at midday,
while in the rest of the year foraging activity was distributed more evenly throughout
the daylight. The daily rhythm of foraging activity had a stronger and positive relation
with light intensity. The second most important factor determining the daily rhythm of
foraging was temperature that was also positively related for most of the year. Relative
humidity showed a weak and negative relation with the daily rhythm of foraging in just
positivamente durante a maior parte do ano.

Information about the human papilloma virus( hpv )in collections of textbooks high school biology indicated by the 2015 national textbook programLuiz Roberto Costa 31 March 2016 (has links)
The textbook can be an important tool for the student body of the learning process. It can also allow the understanding of the events associated with the teaching of sexually transmitted diseases in the school context, and the relationships established between the different actors involved in this process. From this premise, this study aims to evaluate the theme of the infection caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV) in the three most widely distributed collections of High School Biology suggested by the National Textbook Program (PNLD) 2015, and to propose as a final product a digital teaching manual in the form of web site to aid the teacher in his work studies on this theme. The comments made about the works followed the criteria suggested by the 2015 PNLD and if information was consistent with those published by the World Health Organization and Ministry of Health in its publications. In the works analyzed, it was observed that comments about the STD infections and are more elaborate than those that deal or genital HPV infection by such a virus known as condyloma acuminata. Of the three collections studied here presented an information more completely, although this information cannot be considered satisfactory on HPV. The main result, it was found that there is a chance of access to information relating to sexually transmitted diseases and that young people can be lax or careless as methods of preventing such diseases among adolescents in high school stage. Thus, it was concluded that the veracity and relevance of information provided in these high school books today is not enough to allow students to know about the mechanisms of transmission and prevention of HPV and infections caused by this virus. As a palliative to get around this, it is proposed in this paper an online digital manual in the form of web site as a reliable source of information that complements existing or missing information about HPV in textbooks of high school biology, enabling broad access to this worthy topic.

ExpressÃo, purificaÃÃo e caracterizaÃÃo estrutural da bdh-2 recombinante, uma espermadesina presente no plasma seminal de bode (Capra hircus) / Expression, purificaÃÃo and structural characterization of bdh-2 recombinant, a present espermadesina in the plasma seminal of bode (Capra hircus)Antonia SÃmia Fernandes do Nascimento 02 February 2010 (has links)
The Bdh-2 bodhesin cDNA present in seminal plasma of goat was subcloned in the expression plasmid pTrcHis TOPO used to transform E. coli Top10 One shot cells. The recombinant clones were selected by growth in 50 μg/mL ampicillin-containing LB-Broth medium and PCR amplifications. The recombinant protein synthesis was monitored by SDS-PAGE followed by immunoblotting using monoclonal anti-His antibody. The production of the rBdh-2 through low temperature was not satisfactory. A greater production of the rBdh-2 occurred with IPTG 1.5 mM after 2 h of induction. The method utilized to the purification of the rBdh-2 was realized in affinity chromatography on a His-Trap column following ion-exchange chromatography on a DEAE-Sephacel column. The secondary structure of the rBdh-2 was evaluated through spectral profile circular dichroism (CD) and confirmed the prevalence of secondary structures like β-sheets, the presence of a low content of unfolded structures and helices-. The rBdh-2 structure remained stable up to 35 ÂC. However, significant changes were observed from 40 ÂC related to a distortion of the spectrum of CD.

Previous issue date: 2012-06-26 / Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico - CNPq / The anurans are a group of vertebrates with wide geographical distribution that obtained
highly evolutionary success, being part of a lineage descendant of early tetrapods, the first
vertebrates to conquer the terrestrial environment. Anurans are divided into two suborders:
Archaeobatrachia and Neobatrachia. Within the suborder Neobatrachia there is Bufonoidea
superfamily, which includes the three families of higher abundance in the neotropical region:
Leptodactylidae, Bufonidae and Hylidae. The aim of this study was to analyze cytogenetically
species of the family Hylidae of areas of the Cerrado of Goiás, by the technique of
conventional cytogenetics and by silver nitrate staining. The metaphases were obtained
directly from cell suspensions of spleen, liver and bone marrow. The slides were stained with
Giemsa at 8%, to determine the diploid number and chromosome morphology. The species
Hypsiboas multifasciatu and Hypsiboas raniceps presented the diploid number 2n=24 and
fundamental number FN=48 with positive marks for NORs in chromosomes 8 and 10
respectively. The species Hypsiboas lundii presented diploid number 2n=24 and fundamental
number FN=46 due to the presence of acrocentric chromosome in pair 6. The RONs for this
species were identified in pericentromeric regions of short arms of chromosome 5 and in
telomeric regions of short arms of chromosome 8. Within the genus Hypsiboas, only the
species Hypsiboas albopunctatus presented diploid number 2n=22 and fundamental number
FN = 44, and by silver staining technique we identified the presence of NORs on the short
arms of the telomeric regions of chromosome pair 8. The species Pseudis bolbodactyla
presented diploid number 2n=24 and FN=46 evidenced by the acrocentric pair 4. The species
Scinax similis and Scinax constrictus showed different karyotypic notations. The species
Scinax similis presented karyotype 2n=24 and FN=48 with methacentric and submethacentric
chromosomes. We found for the species Scinax constrictus the karyotype notation 2n=22 and
FN=44. Differences in the morphology of chromosomes with respect to literature data can be
explained by the different criteria used for classification of the chromosomes. The
morphology of some of the chromosomes found in this study differs from their
representatives described in the literature, and such differences may be explained by adopting
different criteria for the classification of chromosomes.

As metáfases
As
As espécies Hypsiboas multifasciatus e Hypsiboas raniceps
Hypsiboas lundii apresentou número diplóide 2n=24 e número fundamental NF=46 devido a
presença do cromossomo acrocêntrico no par 6.
Dentro do gênero Hypsiboas, apenas a
A espécie Pseudis bolbodactyla
apresentou número diplóide 2n=24 e NF=46 evidenciado pelo par acrocêntrico 4. As espécies
do gênero Scinax apresentaram diferentes notações cariotípicas. Scinax similis apresentou

This work shows the biological activities of lectins isolated from Vatairea macrocarpa and Vatairea guianensis seeds and the vegetable compound diterpen casban, isolated from Croton nepetaefolius on the growth of Pseudomonas aeruginosa (ATCC 9027) that causes otites externa. The in vitro activity of the two lectins and vegetable compound casbane diterpene were compared on cultures of P. aeruginosa in polystyrene microplates. The bacterial cells were tested such in planktonic as in biofilm forms. The lectins tested were not capable to inhibit the growth and biofilm production of P. aeruginosa in the experimental conditions. On the other hand, the casbane diterpene was capable to inhibit the growth of planctonic forms of P. aeruginosa at the concentrations of 500, 250 and 125 Âg/mL. However, the inhibition of biofilm production was not observed at the same concentrations. The casbane diterpene isolated from Croton nepetaefolius can be used, after the realization of other studies, as an antibiotic biotechnological tool on planktonic forms of P. aeruginosa

Atividade antioxidante, caracterização química e botânica de mel amargo proveniente do município do Cantá-RRIolete do Nascimento Araújo Maciel 08 October 2013 (has links)
The bitter honey production in the city of Cantá-RR has been attribute by beekeepers in the region to the period of flowering plants of the genus Vochysia. This research aims to investigate the existence of chemical markers that can confirm the botanical origin of the honey, as well as verify their chemical composition and antioxidant activity. Thus, we prepared extracts of bitter honey by XAD-2, C18, liquid-liquid (dichloromethane) and lyophilized honey. For comparison of the constitution were also obtained the extracts ethanol of the flowers without anthers and of the anthers of the flowers, rich in pollen. The extracts of honey XAD-2 and ethanol flowers were fractionated, obtaining extracts with hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate and methanol. Mass spectrometric analyzes were performed with the different extracts and there was a great similarity between the spectra. By using authentic standards, chrysin and caffeic acid were identified in the extracts of bitter honey. In hexanic extract analyzes, through gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS), several n-alkanes and n- alkenes were identified with times of retention and identical retention index in the honey and in the flowers. To determine the position of the double bond, a derivatization with dimethuldisulfide was performed. The similar n-alkenes in extracts of honey and flowers presented unsaturation at position 1. Spectrophotometric analyses were performed to quantify the phenolic compounds getting to result of 94,64 mg of gallic acid /100 g of honey and flavonoids with 86,23 g/100g honey. The honey presented a white coloration, based on the Pfund scale and antioxidant activity one IC50 of 16,94 mg / mL,determined by means of the DPPH method. This work confirmed the botanical origin of honey obtained by melissopalynology and chemical data, and also contributed to the chemical characterization of the honey through quantification of some classes of natural products and their antioxidant activity.
