Figaro, Linda, Ryttinger, Chris January 2018 (has links)
The purpose of the study was to help create a greater knowledge and understanding for now young adult biological children's experiences of having had parents being foster care parents and the meaning of it. Att vara familjehemmets biologiska barn / To be the biological child of the family home

Lindberg, Josefin, Malmqvist, Pernilla January 2013 (has links)
The purpose with this study is to find out the experience of growing up in a family where the biological parents, has taken the assignment as family child caregiver’s. We have taken the help from the following question formulations to immerse ourselves in the subject. How do the biological children experience their relationship to their parents? How do the biological children experience their relationship to the children who are placed in their home? How do the biological children experience their participation in the family home? How do the biological children experience the need for support from outside the family? We have used a qualitative research method and interviewed six respondents with help from a semi-structured interview guide to get the respondents unique experiences told. In this way the respondents own perspective is presented in a phenomenological way, without coloring their stories with our own naive theories. We have processed the material with help from topics that affect our question formulation. Sibling relationship, relations to parents, participation and support from social welfare and also the family home assignment. The results from the interviews are introduced with help from the Attachment theory, KASAM, Systems theory, literature and research in the subject. Our conclusions are that the biological children have had a participation in the decisions concerning the family home. We have also established that the biological children in our study rarely had to take responsibility for the children placed in their home. The result also shows that the biological children experience varying relationships to the children placed in their home. Some respondents describe it as a sibling relationship while some describes their relationship to the placed children more like a friendly relationship. Our respondents experiences to their parents are good with some exceptions during some particular troublesome periods in their growth. Everyone told us that they could talk to their parents about most of the things regarding the family home but they also said that they felt the need of a person outside the family to talk to, like some support from the social services.

Kissi Andersson, Hulda, Ben Brach, Younes January 2021 (has links)
This essay is about biological children and how their participation, based on the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the concept of "the best interests of the child", is considered by professionals who handle the case when their family has undertaken the task of being a foster family. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether there are routines for how professionals in foster care units in their work make biological children in foster families involved during a family home placement. The study intends to make visible how the participation of biological children is considered at all stages of a foster care placement, i.e., from the beginning, during the time and at the end. Through a qualitative method as a method choice, we have, with the help of a semi-structured interview, conducted interviews with four foster care secretaries in family home care at the social services and four external foster care investigators on behalf of the social services. The selection group works within and on behalf of various municipalities in Sweden and has different years of experience in the profession. Previous research both internationally and nationally has, among other things, studied the experiences of placing children in foster families and the family in family homes. Regarding biological children in family homes, however, research shows that it is an extremely limited area of research. Results in the study show that despite the professionals' different backgrounds, most of the sample group describes that biological children's participation does not have a directly given place in the process as routines for it are lacking and parents are expected to pass on given information to their children. A description from everyone in the selection group shows that biological children's participation in a family home placement should be strengthened. It summarizes the need to raise and apply biological children's right to participation in a family home placement. The results show that the question is important to get answered and need to be investigated further. Further research is needed to examine biological children's experience of participation and its significance.

Villkorad syskonkärlek : Om upplevelsen av att växa upp som biologiskt barn i familjehem / Conditional sibling love : regarding the experience of growing up as a biological child in foster home

Bergelt, Lina, Hägglöf, Sara January 2023 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to provide knowledge on today's adult biological children's experiences of having grown up in foster homes and contribute with knowledge and understanding about whether societal support functions were in proportion to perceived needs. The study is based on a qualitative approach whose empirical evidence is obtained through semi-structured interviews. In total, we have interviewed eight informants. The empirical work was processed according to the approach of thematic analysis and resulted in a number of themes and sub-themes whose content was analyzed in relation to the theories Theory of family boundary ambiguity and ambiguous loss as well as the New sociology of childhood and to previous research on the subject of biological children in foster homes. The study shows that biological children in foster care's experiences need to be understood based on each individual's unique story, which has consisted of both benefits and challenges. The distinguishing feature of the result is the important and lasting relationships that all informants developed with some of the children placed in foster homes. Separations and risk of separations from children placed in foster homes created feelings of anxiety, fear and stress that some of the informants, as a result of a lack of support from adults, did not have sufficient opportunity to process and understand. The biological children’s access to participation, inclusion and information in matters concerning the foster children and the foster home assignment appear to be fundamental components for the assignment to be perceived as more or less positive or challenging. The results of the study also show the importance of the adults having knowledge of the biological children's potential needs and that they can relate to them in a flexible and responsive way. The support thus needs to be designed so that it is proportionate to the unique child's needs.
