The impact of philophonetics counseling : a South African sampleMasimula, Khumbuzile Precious January 2007 (has links)
Submitted in accordance with the requirements for the Degree of Masters in the subject of Psychology, Faculty of Arts at the University of Zululand, 2007. / This study identifies a new paradigm for working with body, mind and spirit that facilitates psychotherapeutic processes. It uses both the verbal and non¬verbal components of human experience. It transforms life's challenges into an empowering, transformational and healing process, allowing opportunities for unfolding our true potential.
Philophonetics is a modality of counselling, psychotherapy and coaching. It is a phenomenological approach to human experiences that facilitate the client in a process of active exploration, self discovery and empowerment to become more conscious in their own knowing and way of being in the world. It accepts awareness through the living body as a way of knowing through sensation, movement and gesture, visualization of internal dynamics and the resonance of sound therapy.
The skills learnt in the sessions can be practiced and integrated by the client and used for self-management and self-care between sessions and after therapy is completed.
The present study has shown how effective philophonetics can be and it is evident that this modality cuts across cultures. The findings of the present study are in keeping with international literature which confirms that philophonetics unlike other therapeutic modalities, it does not rely heavily on the verbal mode but employs about 80% of the nonverbal phase.

Our intent is to clarify our intuition on a more important research : integrating body-mind techniques, especially concerning the qigong 氣功or “work of breath”, in medical research thus opening important psychopathologic paths. The author, who has a double background, in both psychoanalysis and Qigong, sustains that the return to perception, backed up by the development of attentive gests and respiration, upgrades the driving force and is potentially responsible of having a positive effect on the compulsive processes. The scientific stake inscribed in the first program of clinical research dedicated to Qigong supported by the Minister in charge of Health matters, would be to contribute to the actualisation of modes of action on the processes of unbinding and fixation by boosting the life drive. The author has extracted the concepts of Drive and Qi, fundamental concepts in both fields (Partial and II). This method has allowed us to clarify the respective occurrences in both worlds from a common point – energy. The first four chapters establish the basis of the understanding of these concepts and notions necessary to understand the articulation of Drive and Qi referring to a common driving force. The clinic for addictions is a privileged field of investigation (Part III). Indeed, the explication of craving as the central symptom of addiction and its’ instinctive nature comforts us in the choice of a mixed approach, quantitative and qualitative, oriented towards the psychoanalysis. In other words, this research places us in the heart of the Freudian pulsation dynamic and the approach is inscribed in the scientific progress of our time. The driving dynamic and the introduction of body-mind techniques arouse the interest of the neuroscientifics especially at the University Hospital Pitié-Salpêtrière.

Abstract: This research aims, through the movement principles of the Body-Mind Centering® (BMC) method developed by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, at studying the Vestibular System and its connections with body balance. It researches its possible contributions regarding the motor development and its qualitative implications in gestures and actions towards acting and creation in performing arts. Since body balance is due to the interaction of three systems: somatosensory, visual and vestibular, the Body-Mind Centering® method is realized as relevant in this study, as its principles provide an anatomic experience of different body systems, favoring the recognition of the vestibular system action in motion. This leads to understanding how we wisely cover the senses in the body, and how these senses relate to perception and motion development. This research is intended to be able to elucidate how BMC can interfere in learning the way the actions are coded allowing one to also realize that new ways to co-emerge in the movements enables and supports the creative system, since in dance, the artist counts on the proper body to develop his or her interpretation and creation work. This creation process must count, by the artist, on an attitude based on his/her body's balance perception, on his/her choices and on the inherent qualities of balance/unbalance restructuring in motion and choreographic design. The application of this research has been achieved in the three-way interlacement, which we consider essential: practical laboratories (specific experience of theory by means of BMC Method), of creation (development of a choreography) and by studying painter Paul Klee's
work, which has contributed as a poetic/imagetic foundation to the choreographic process. / Doutorado / Artes Cenicas / Doutor em Artes

Problématiques(s) des rapports soma/psyché dans les neurosciences et dans la psychanalyse : du réel de la science au réel du parlêtre / Problematic(s) relations between psyche and soma in neurosciences and psychoanalysis : from the real of science to the real of the « parlêtre »Gosselin, Vincent 01 October 2011 (has links)
Hysterical conversions symptoms, which are defined as functional stoke of sensory and/or motor functions without known physiological causality, ask a serious riddle to scientific and medical theory. This studie is focused on hysterical motor paralysis where neurological investigations are more recents and numerous. Starting from this point, body mind representations are interrogated and compared in the fields of neurosciences and psychoanalysis. In neurosciences, the body mind problem can be reduce to monist physicalist conception, in which psyche is an epiphenomenon stem from information processing in neural networks (this position is called eliminationnism), or can be reduce to differents dualists conceptions which are more or less explicited, depending of autors. The last Lacan’view of borromean knot, which refer to the « parlêtre »’s structure (RSI knot), allow us to show that scientifics représentations (imaginaro-symbolic representations) of human are limited because they don’t take real, symbolic and imaginary registers into consideration.

Att öka elevers materialförståelse i textilslöjd / To increase students´ understanding of materials in textile handicraftStrassmann, Matilda January 2023 (has links)

Body-Mind Centering jako cesta k sebeuvědomění / Body-Mind Centering as a journey towards self-consciousnessŠešerová, Dominika January 2011 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to introduce BMC approach in relation to other body-oriented psychotherapies, to characterise its principles and techniques, the format of therapy and to analyze and assess it from a point of view of the basic questions of scientific validity of a psychotherapeutic modality. Further in this thesis we summarize the bodily anchored experiencing theory. The empirical part of this thesis is a quantitative study of relation of body awareness, depressive experiencing and the satisfaction with life. We also studied a relationship among body awareness and socio-demographical characteristics of respondents. We ascertained some statistically significant correlations pointing towards a link between the ability of body awareness and depressive experiencing and also with satisfaction with life. The findings of this empirical study point towards the usefulness of further systematical developing of the body awareness construct.

Introduction: Chronic pain affects up to 30% of the world’s population and takes up large resources in healthcare. Chronic pain affects the individual on several levels where biopsychosocial interventions have been shown to be most effective in treatment. However, there is a lack of interventions that can be used in primary healthcare. Aim: To explore how people with chronic pain have experienced the rehabilitation process in a group training concept in primary healthcare that combines both psychological and physiotherapeutic methods. Method: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with eleven participants (women 51-68 years) who had participated in the group training related to chronic pain with or without comorbidity. The selection was strategic and analysis was done with grounded theory according to Charmaz. Results: The analysis generated a theoretical model and five categories. The core category – learning new ways of livning with pain – a change process in safe environment, is illustrated through three different contexts that have been important for the participants’ rehabilitation process, 1) an inner circular context, 2) the health care context and 3) the wellness and socio-cultural context. Conclusion: The study provides an increased understanding of how a rehabilitation process is experienced by people with chronic pain. It highlights the role of health care in supporting a change process and it draws attention to how psychosocial factors can prevent people with chronic pain from maintaining motivation to exercise and get out to wellness training. Future studies are needed that examine the group training in relation to other treatment interventions.

[en] ANATOMY UNMANUAL / [pt] DESMANUAL DE ANATOMIADANIELLA DE ARAUJO LIMA 07 November 2022 (has links)
A questão
A pesquisa é
[en] This research is based on the assumption that we re living in an unparalleled moment of planetary transformation, where a crisis of the Anthropocene
becomes evident, and that, to expand our thinking, imagining, and feeling horizons, intending to rebuild the axis of life on this planet, it s urgent to value the
body s sensitive dimensions as alternatives to the objectifying approaches perpetrated by rationalist, colonizing, and capitalist Western epistemological traditions
that have brought us here. Using as its core the somatic approach of Body-Mind
Centering experiential anatomy, this research intends to consider some principles
born from its practices, in dialogue with theoretical reflections by contemporary
thinkers, through diffractive methodology, as proposed by Donna Haraway (2004,
2019) and Karen Barad (2007, 2012, 2017). The issue investigated here deals with
how a physical matter poetics can contribute to contemporary thought and art that is
committed to the task of generating a micropolitical action-posture to reconfigure a
body s presence and action powers in regards to the environment, both on stage and
in life. The research is theoretical-practical, and intends to investigate the notions
of cellular knowledge and the performativity of matter, sympoietically connecting
insights stemming from personal practice to experience reports and creative resonance generated in the Laboratórios Performativos de Anatomia Sensível [Sensitive
Anatomy Performance Workshops] (offered in 2020 and 2021), as well as perspectives from quantum physics, biology, somatics, dance and social sciences. Through
the interplay of these different writing registers, the dissertation attempts to fabulate
a type of Body-Mind Centering poetics, understood as a methodology for speculative body fabulation.
