Utveckling av ett adaptivt munstycke för bassängrengöring / Development of an adaptive pool cleaner attachment

Ericson, Richard, Olofsson, Karl January 2019 (has links)
This report describes the development of a product concept that’s supposed to replace Weda's SD-System. The SD-System suction nozzle is scalable from 1 𝑚 up to 10 𝑚 wide out of bent sheet metal and is installed to a driving unit. The new pool cleaner attachment concept is supposed to be more modular to fit different basins and be cheaper in manufacturing. Based on customer requirements, the problems description and the development process, five concepts were developed. All the concepts are supported by basic facts, theoretical manufacturing and assembly aspects as well as flow simulations. These five concepts were opposed to each other in a screening matrix and then proceeded with a concept that was further developed using project tools such as QFD and DFA. Finally, a laboratory exercise was performed with a prototype and the purpose of investigating and strengthening the project's calculations. Finally, the results that are set against the project's objectives and customer requirements are analyzed to evaluate whether the project has succeeded or not.

Discourse Analysis in Engineering: Investigating Patterns in Brainstorming Conversations

Chiem, Aimee 01 December 2023 (has links) (PDF)
Brainstorming is a critical part of the engineering design process and can have a significant impact on the outcomes of the overall project. While research has studied the outcomes of brainstorming and the ideas that teams generate, the role that language and conversation play in these activities is still relatively underexplored. Observing the different ways people use specific types of discourse can reveal how conversations can affect brainstorming itself. To that end, this research aims to answer the following questions: 1) What are the different kinds of discursive moves that students make during engineering brainstorming activities? 2) What patterns or themes emerge among these discursive moves? We collected data by recording conversations that took place during team brainstorming activities with engineering students. These conversations were transcribed, and we used discourse analysis to code our data according to the speaker's intent. We combined quantitative and qualitative analysis to identify and explore correlation patterns within these conversations. Three prominent themes emerged from our analyses: Active Engagement, Group Rapport, and Exploring the Problem. These themes highlight the range of different conversational elements that work together to support effective brainstorming discussions. Engineers and engineering educators can be mindful of the way that they frame their brainstorming activities so that the team’s discourse encourages more active engagement, stronger group rapport, and deeper exploration of the problem at hand.

Sleep it off : implementing a mindset for sustainable development strategy

Denitsa, Todorova January 2022 (has links)
This project puts the focus on innovation towards sustainability driven by teamwork inside an organisation. The case study company is TED BED, which is a leader in mattress production in Bulgaria and is also striving to become a notable example for the industry. There are major issues in this field, from waste management to sleep deprivation and disorders. Therefore, sustainable development plays an important role in the strategies which have a holistic approach toward each one of the three pillars of sustainability: economic, social and ecological. These complexities can be solved only by having a deep comprehension of several fields which could be best obtained through the teamwork of organisational members from various backgrounds. Thus, the expected outcome is to build a new mindset with which those strategies could be fulfilled. This is done by integrating a bottom-up approach, meaning that the employees are developing a plan on how a specific strategy could be implemented into real practice. The result is a proposal for integrating togetherness activities to spark creativity and drive innovation through cross-departmental  work.

[en] THE CREATIVE PRODUCTION OF CHILDREN IN THE BRAINSTORMING OF DEVELOPMENT OF INNOVATIONS IN DIGITAL PRODUCT DESIGN / [pt] A PRODUÇÃO CRIATIVA DE CRIANÇAS NO BRAINSTORMING DE DESENVOLVIMENTO DE INOVAÇÕES EM DESIGN DE PRODUTOS DIGITAIS

ADRIANA STELLA CHAMMAS 30 August 2018 (has links)
[en] The demand for frequent and substantial innovations and the consequent agility of the processes is driven by the technological market. In search of innovation, companies are often content with incremental improvements to present products before their competitors and to ensure investors expected return. In order to increase the creativity of the creative teams, this research focused on the following hypothesis: if the creative production of brainstorming with children was used in the Design processes, the degree of innovation of the products and the number of solutions for innovative digital products would increase. The methods and techniques used for this investigation were: interviews with CEOs of digital technology companies; questionnaire for developers of such products; interviews with teachers and psycho-pedagogues; experiment in which children, development team and experienced designers were involved. The results of this research pointed to the refutation of the hypothesis, since the design process of the development of innovative digital products was not optimized with the creative production of the children: in spite of the results, the insertion of the variable resulted in the generation of more good ideas. It was possible to create a step-by-step approach so that brainstorming with the influence of children s creative output can be replicated in Design processes.
