This thesis compares the ways in which the nationalisation process impacted the research practices of academics from two universities, the University of Rio Grande do Sul and the University of Parana. Systematic comparisons of both institutions located in the South of Brazil has shown that the differences between them were, indeed, significant during pre-nationalisation years. In Brazilian terms, they are ‘close’ together since only seven hundred kilometres separate them. However, the necessity for regionalised studies on the development of academic science is demonstrated in this thesis through a focus on specific faculties that achieved remarkably different research results, despite their geographical proximity. The comparative analysis carried out in this thesis reveals that significant differences existed, such as institutional arrangements, disciplinary boundaries and networks, despite the fact that they were often found under similar academic arrangements. The nationalisation project carried out in 1950 did not alter these differences overnight, but introduced a new element in both settings that would shape their scientific capabilities to this day. Substantial new evidence presented here indicates that in the early 1950s President Dutra, perhaps inadvertently, forced research-minded academics in both universities to consider the possibility of adapting their research projects to their nationalised institutions. Because of the chain of events enabled by this initiative, in later years, these universities became some of the most prominent institutional settings for scientific research in Brazil. A comparative study of the differences and similarities between ongoing practices in these academic settings at the moment of nationalisation indicates that nationalisation did not occur in an historical vacuum; rather, it enhanced and legitimised deeply rooted academic traditions that came to shape local research cultures over the following decades. When this context is explored it becomes clear that an understanding of nationalisation actually lends greater coherence to traditional chronologies of Brazilian academic science.

Cette recherche présente la description d’une formule discursive, x para o trabalho, dans différents genres textuels liés à l’institution éducative brésilienne entre les années 1950 et 1980. Il s’agit de la description de l’émergence d’un objet discursif, de sa contestation et, finalement, de son acceptation comme une évidence. Selon notre hypothèse, x para o trabalho apparaît au début des années 1950 comme un objet discursif spécifique, non plus limité à l’éducation professionnelle, et entre, ensuite, dans l’institution éducative comme une tentative d’intégrer deux types d’enseignement : le technique et l’académique. L’emploie récurrent du signifiant et les transformations formelles qu’il soufre au fil des années (educação para o trabalho ; qualificação para o trabalho ; preparação para o trabalho ; formação para o trabalho ; capacitação para o trabalho) ont un rapport étroit avec la modification du système éducatif brésilien et font de la question du travail le noyau central de l’éducation à partir des années 1960. / This research presents the description of a formula, x para o trabalho, in its path through the Brazilian educational institution between 1950 and 1982. It is the description of a discursive objet: its emergence, the debates around it and, finally, its acceptance as an evidence. Our hypothesis proposes x para o trabalho as a new kind of object that emerges in the 1950’s and enters the national educational institution as an attempt to merge two kinds of school: the academic and the professional. The uses of this signifier and the changes it goes through are related to the educational institution’s transformations in this period and are central to its reconfiguration.

The seventh PopPorn Festival (2017), themed Our Body, Our Rules, revolved around sexual agency and exploration, principles that each film, workshop, and debate addressed in its own way. Inscribed in a transnational feminist and queer-porn film culture, the PopPorn Festival decimated heteropatriarchal norms while creating a space to learn, inspire, and create a variety of sexual perspectives. Epitomizing the concept of cultural cannibalism, these sexual ideas and practices traveled from their country of production to the Brazilian film festival, which absorbed them, thus enriching its own culture. Each film analyzed in this dissertation is itself anthropornophagous, the neologism I devised to express the metaphorical devouring a patriarchal enemy through pornography. These films offer unique avenues of reflection on the place of sexual pleasure and its explicit representation in Western culture, on pornography as a vessel to oppose the heteropatriarchal system, and on the extent to which feminist and queer pornographies can constitute a source of inspiration for shame-free sexual expression. The four films analyzed in this dissertation resist patriarchal oppression on different grounds and react to a state of affairs that is dissatisfying. Not only do they question norms, they also create new ways to be sexually inspired.

Este estudo se dedica à compreensão dos caminhos distintos da coleção de artes plásticas, reunida e mantida por Mário de Andrade, ou seja, uma espécie de, vir-a-ser do conjunto, desde sua casa até a Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Ao ser expostas a diferentes, olhares, estudos e interpretação concretiza uma meta do escritor, sendo hoje preservada pelo Instituto de Estudos Brasileiros da Universidade de São Paulo (IEB-USP). No processo constitutivo desta coleção, contam-se diversas etapas, desde as primeiras aquisições do colecionador até sua incorporação pela Universidade. Ao longo deste trabalho, pode-se observar que o processo de formação da coleção se dá na relação entre o privado, os desígnios pessoais do colecionador, e o público, momento em que a coleção ganha significado enquanto tal e se destina ao olhar anônimo ou de estudiosos. Pode parecer erroneamente que se trata de uma divisão entre vida e morte de Mário Andrade, contudo esta relação já está presente desde os primeiros passos do colecionador. Para isso, esta dissertação está estruturada em três capítulos que funcionam como afunilamento do olhar, ante a coleção de Mário de Andrade. A primeira escala, mais ampla, dá conta das expectativas do colecionador, que possuía o desejo expresso de deixá-la para a posteridade, em instituições de cunho público, que veio ao encontro do objetivo institucional relativo ao Acervo do IEB. Já uma escala intermediária é o entendimento dessa coleção como detentora dos valores modernistas, levada ao olhar na Lopes Chaves; e, por fim, a escala mais detalhada, que reconstrói a exposição dessas no espaço da casa. / The purpose of this study is to further understand the developments of Mario de Andrade\'s art collection from the period when it was available at the collector\'s home to its transfer to the custody of the Institute of Brazilian Studies - University of São Paulo (IEB USP), thereby fulfilling Andrade\'s will to expose his legacy to different perspectives, studies and interpretations. The process that defined the collection may be divided into distinct phases, from early acquisitions to their incorporation into the University. This thesis emphasizes the relationship between the private sphere - or the collector\'s purposes and aspirations - and the public sphere - namely, the collection, understood as an independent unit and destined for public appreciation. It could be mistakenly taken for granted that this analysis is based on the assessment of the collection\'s development before and after Mario de Andrade\'s death, but public and private relations actually characterize the collection since it\'s beginning. The study is presented in three chapters, by narrowing down the subject matter in correspondent levels. The first one, conceived in a wider scale, takes into account the institutionalization of the collection. The second chapter, in turn, analyzes São Paulo\'s city by the owner of the collection. Finally, the third analyses the disposition of the objects in his house, through a reconstitution of the space

Inaugurada em 1936 pela Livraria José Olympio Editora, a Coleção Documentos Brasileiros destacou-se no conjunto das brasilianas lançadas à mesma época por abrigar autores e obras comprometidos com a renovação do conhecimento sobre o Brasil. Ao tomá-la como objeto de estudo, este trabalho pretende percebê-la especificamente como um veículo privilegiado para a difusão de diferentes visões sobre o nosso passado, em especial as renovadoras, exercendo assim um importante papel na transformação da historiografia nacional ocorrida a partir da década de 1930. Desta forma, ela é vista como um ponto de convergência entre diferentes sujeitos relacionados à produção, difusão e consumo do saber histórico no Brasil no decorrer do período de 1936 a 1959. / Established in 1936 by Livraria José Olympio Editora, Coleção Documentos Brasileiros was the most distinguished series of the brasilianas that started out at the same decade by bringing together new authors and new works about the knowledge of Brazil. This thesis intends to analyze it as an privileged vehicle to diffusion of different points of view about Brazilian past, specially the renew one, exercing an important role to the transformation of Brazilian historiography that happened after 1930?s. This way its seems as a agreement point among different actors related with production, diffusion and consumption of historical knowledge in Brazil during 1936 to 1959.

Essa tese trata do perfil dos museus universitários - sua origem, desenvolvimento e perfil atual -, com ênfase para os museus de arte. Procura definir o que seria um museu universitário modelo e busca identificar o quanto desse modelo existe na prática. Descreve a formação e as características dos museus da Universidade de São Paulo e dos museus universitários de arte no Brasil. Analisa a coleção e o museu de arte da Universidade de São Paulo - Coleção de Artes Visuais do Instituto de Estudos Brasileiros e Museu de Arte Contemporânea - diante do modelo proposto para museus universitários. E finalmente, discute a necessidade da Universidade de São Paulo possuir ou não essas coleções de arte. / This thesis addresses the profile of university museums - their origin, development and current profile– with emphasis on art museums. It attempts to define what a model university museum should be and to compare it to the existing situation. It describes the foundation and characteristics of the University of São Paulo museums and of university art museums in Brazil. It analyses the art collection and the University of São Paulo art museum - Visual Arts Collection of the Brazilian Studies Institute and the Contemporary Art Museum - in comparison to the university museum model proposed. And finally it discusses the need for those art collections in the University of São Paulo.

The question to be investigated concerns to the black professional people from different areas, and committed with the fight against racism and discrimination that propose as fundamental in their respective areas of knowledge and / or work for consisting an Afro-Brazilian Studies Program. For that were interviewed five professionals in the following areas: Chemistry, Biology, Dance, Music and Journalism. It was made some interviews, consisting by fifteen issues. In these analyses, we sought for identify what knowledge, values and attitudes that a program should encompass. Among others aspects, all participants believe that a program like this is very important for the black population feel included and valued not only in school curriculum, but also in the society, and with that occurs an increasing in the self-esteem and strengthening of the ethnicracial identity of this group. / Este trabalho de pesquisa é de caráter exploratório e busca algumas contribuições para um Programa de Estudos Afro-Brasileiros, o qual tem por objetivo rever a produção do conhecimento e a valorização da História e Cultura Afro-Brasileira e Africana. A questão a ser investigada diz respeito ao que profissionais negros/as de diferentes áreas, e comprometidos/as com o combate ao racismo e discriminações propõem como fundamental, em suas respectivas áreas do conhecimento e/ou trabalho, para compor um Programa de Estudos Afro-Brasileiros. Para isso foram entrevistados/as cinco (5) profissionais das seguintes áreas: Química, Biologia, Dança, Música e Jornalismo. Foi elaborado um roteiro de entrevistas composto por quinze (15) questões. Na análise dessas, buscou-se identificar quais conhecimentos, valores, posturas e atitudes que um Programa dessa natureza deve abarcar. Dentre outros aspectos, todos/as os/as participantes acreditam que um Programa como este é de suma importância para que a população negra brasileira sinta-se contemplada e valorizada não só nos currículos escolares, como também na sociedade, e com isso ocorra um aumento da auto-estima e fortalecimento da identidade étnico-racial deste grupo.
