Dervisic, Jasenko January 2019 (has links)
Burnout syndrome is increasingly affecting more people in Westerncountries. The question of treatment is important. In this study, we recruitedand investigated 27 burnout patients (16 women, 9 men) and 20 healthycontrols (8 men and 12 women) before and after an intervention. Theintervention consisted of a combination of both cognitive therapy, cognitivebehavioral therapy, individual counseling, and a form of mindfulness grouptherapy (centered around own body awareness) to see whether the treatmenthad an effect on cognitive functions possibly affected by burnout and onsubjective well-being. A battery of neuropsychological tests andquestionnaires were administered to all participants, once before treatment, and once after. All test scores were z transformed and reduced to compositevariables, measuring executive function, verbal memory function andpsychomotor function. No significant interaction effects between group andtest occasions were found. Treatment does not appear to influence cognitivefunctions affected in burnout. Prevence syndromu vyhoření u pedagogických profesí / Prevention of burnout syndrom in pedagogical professions

Bezoušková, Vendula January 2018 (has links)
The author explores the issue of burnout syndrome and its prevention in pedagogical professions. The main objective is to find out what precautions are used by pedagogical staff to protect themselves against the development of this syndrome. The presented work consists of two parts - theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part, stress is defined as the main factor and its effect on human health is described. The characteristics of the burnout syndrome, which includes selected etiopathogenetic and protective factors, follow. The practical part of the diploma thesis surveys the percentage of incidence of burnout syndrome in the target group. It also examines the behavior of respondents in the field of burnout prevention. The survey was performed out by using a quantitative research method - a questionnaire. The results proved that in the area of prevention the most important aspect for the teaching staff is social support and affiliate relationships at the workplace. These factors help them to cope with the higher workload that is typical for the so-called helping profession. The analysis also revealed that burnout syndrome occurred in nearly one third of the respondents and it correlated with the level of perceived prestige of the teaching profession. / It is clear that education is going through a broad crisis nowadays. However, whenever a crisis in education is mentioned, we usually refer to the low pay of the professionals, rather than other issues which are as important, or more important, than it. This is the case of some aspects analyzed in this study, such as teachers who are overworked because they perform many roles in their daily practice, the present education which imposed no limits on the students and makes it harder to learn, and the lack of recognition in the society these days. Besides, teachers may also have a conflicting relationship with students, parents, and the school principal/board. Another factor is the competition between students for a better schedule and groups. These are conditions which permeate the teachers’ routine and make them carry out their task with less motivation and less commitment; thus, they become more susceptible to suffer from Burnout Syndrome. This study aims at identifying manifestations which indicate that elementary school teachers in Rio Grande, RS have got Burnout Syndrome. It was carried out with Urie Bronfenbrenner’s PPCT model: people’s everyday processes, in all contexts, are considered fundamental to know if Burnout Syndrome is affecting a professional. Regarding methodology, this is an exploratory and descriptive study which was carried out in July and August 2006, in some selected schools in Rio Grande, RS. Fifteen teachers took part in this study; data were collected in recorded interviews. They were transcribed afterwards; content analysis was applied to read the data. Results were grouped according to three categories which represent the dimensions of Burnout Syndrome mentioned in the literature: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and low professional accomplishment. These categories comprise some of the factors that lead to Burnout Syndrome, according to the teachers. These factors include the lack of limits in students’ education, the lack of recognition for their work, and overwork. This study demonstrates that the symptoms suggest that the teachers who were interviewed have got Burnout Syndrome and shows that these symptoms reflect the teachers’ individual characteristics. These results have been discussed in the context of the teachers’ workplace, where this study was carried out.

Faktory ovlivňující nadšení a vyhoření u dobrovolníků v organizaci LATA / Factors affecting vigor and burnout syndrom of volunteers in the organization LATA

Eichlerová, Jana January 2017 (has links)
EICHLEROVÁ, J. Factors affecting vigor and burnout syndrom of volunteers in the organization LATA. Prague: Charles university in Prague, fakulty of arts, 2017. 101 s. Dissertation. Burnout syndrome is a condition of emotional exhaustion. Its prevention is very essential for both overall health and effective performance at work. The theoretical part is primarily divided into two parts. In the first I deal with burnout syndrome - its definition, causes, symptoms, stages, risk factors, protective factors and neutral factors and prevention of this phenomenon. The following section is devoted to opposites of burnout syndrome most of which deal with Vigor (enthusiasm) according to Shirom. The next two chapters are explaining research methods to measure burnout and enthusiasm with which I operate in the empirical part of the work. The research methods I use are MBI and SMVM questionnaires. Then I describe work of the LATA organization which became the source of my research. I worked only with volunteers of this organization where I also previously worked as a volunteer. Empirical part then examines the burnout syndrome rate and enthusiasm rate of volunteers from the organization LATA. Data from the questionnaires allow us to select a group of ten volunteers, which have been shown the highest rate of...
