Nouvelles céramiques de confinement de plasmas à base de BN issues de précurseurs organométalliques : application aux moteurs à effet Hall / New BN-based ceramics from organometallic precursors for plasma confinement : application to Hall-effect thruster

Fonblanc, Diane 21 December 2017 (has links)
The main objective is here to develop a new generation of ceramic materials used for plasma confinement in Hall-effect thrusters using the PDCs (polymer-derived ceramics) route. A state of the art of the different confinement materials and a review of the previous work done on this topic allowed to determine the key parameters of such materials and to move towards the use of preceramic polymers as precursors of the materials envisaged. After having detailed the various protocols used to chemically modify a commercial polymer with boron, to shape the compounds obtained and then to convert the polymers into ceramics bypyrolysis, Si-B-(C)-N dense ceramic pieces have been produced with various boron content. A complete study from the chemical structure of the polymers to the properties of the resulting ceramics allowed selecting the optimal formulation of the polymer as a ceramic precursor. c-BN/Si-B-(C)-N composites were then prepared by filler addition, then shaped and characterized before a scale-up to prepare engine-size ceramic rings. The last part consists of an opening on the use of the PDCs route for the realization of dense Si-Al-(C)-N pieces of controlled composition, with a study of the impact of aluminum on the polymers andceramics properties.

New quaternary amorphous materials Si-B-C-N: reactive magnetron sputtering and an ab-initio study

Houska, Jiri January 2007 (has links)
Doctor of Philosophy / First part of the thesis is focused on experimental preparation of new hard quaternary amorphous materials Si-B-C-N with high thermal stability. Materials were prepared in the form of thin films using reactive magnetron sputtering. The technique used proved to be suitable for reproducible synthesis of these materials. The Si-B-C-N films were generally found to be amorphous with low compressive stress and good adhesion to silicon or glass substrates. The process and film characteristics were controlled by varying the sputter target composition, the Ar fraction in the N2–Ar gas mixture, the negative rf-induced substrate bias, and the substrate temperature. Main conclusions describe the relationships between process parameters, discharge and deposition characteristics and film properties (elemental composition, chemical bonding structure, material hardness, compressive stress or electrical conductivity of materials prepared). Second part of the thesis is focused on ab-initio simulations of structures of experimentally prepared Si-B-C-N materials. In the performed liquid-quench simulations, the Kohn-Sham equations for the valence electrons are expanded in a basis of plane wave functions, while core electrons were represented using Goedecker-type pseudopotentials. We simplified the ion bombardment process by assuming that the primary impact creates a localized molten region of high temperature and sufficiently short cooling time, commonly referred to as a thermal spike. Main conclusions deal with N2 formation in studied materials, effect of implanted Ar on structure and properties of prepared materials, ability of Si to relieve that part of compressive stress which is caused by implanted Ar, and ability of B to improve thermal stability of Si-B-C-N materials. The calculated results are compared with experiment.

Plasma assisted chemical deposition (CVD/ALD) and integration of Ti(Al)N and Ta(Al)N for sub-20 nm metal gate / Dépôt chimique (CVD/ALD) assisté par plasma et intégration de Ti(Al)N et Ta(Al)N pour les métaux de grille sub-20nm

Piallat, Fabien 04 June 2014 (has links)
For the sub-20 nm technological nodes metal conformity requirements are beyond the possibilities of the currently used PVD deposition technique. CVD techniques, more specifically MOCVD and ALD, are identified as the best techniques for metal deposition. For metal-gate application, titanium and tantalum carbo-nitrides alloys are considered as the most promising. In this work, a detailed review of MOCVD and ALD deposition mechanisms and plasma influence on the deposited material is carried out. First, process windows for successful tuning of the metal properties are examined. Plasma impact on the metal and the inherent reaction mechanisms are also highlighted with the help of plasma characterisation. Then great importance is given to the integration of these metals, by careful study of the interactions taking place at the interfaces. Correlations between physico-chemical properties and electrical behavior of the metal/high-k dielectric stack are introduced thanks to XPS characterisation. Finally, aluminium doping of MOCVD TiN and TaN is considered for n-mos and p-mos gate characteristics achievement. By comparison of the properties and behaviours of Al doped metals deposited by PVD and MOCVD, diffusion mechanisms are proposed to explain the role of Al in the observed changes.

Studium produkce lipidických látek z odpadních substrátů pomocí kvasinek rodu Metschnikowia / Production of lipid substances by Metschnikowia yeasts grown on some waste substrates

Gonová, Dominika January 2018 (has links)
Oleaginous yeasts posses the ability to accumulate increased amount of lipids under appropriate conditions. These microbial lipids vary in the composition of fatty acids which results in their wide application in the biotechnological industry. This master thesis focuses on the lipid production and fatty acids composition from waste substrates by the yeasts Metschnikowia depending on various cultivation conditions. The influence of temperature, the ratio of carbon and nitrogen in medium, and the concentration of different carbon sources was studied. The cheap and easy available waste substrates as glycerol and animal fat were used for the cultivation. The production characteristics of the yeasts were monitored by various technique including gas chromatography, Raman spectroscopy and fluorescence microscopy FLIM. Moreover, the partial optimalization of the pulse field gel electrophoresis was applied in order to characterize the karyotype of the yeasts Metschnikowia. All the studied strains were able to use the waste substrates and at the same time to produce lipids. The amount of lipids and mainly their compositions vary depending on the yeast strain and on the culture conditions. Nevertheless, the ability of the yeasts to produce significant amount of unsaturated fatty acids by manipulation of culture conditions was proved. The maximum lipid yield was achieved by M. pulcherrima 149 on glycerol medium and by M. andauensis 129 on medium containing waste animal fat.

LTE-Advanced/WLAN testbed / LTE-Advanced/WLAN testbed

Plaisner, Denis January 2017 (has links)
This thesis deals with the investigation and assessment of communication standards LTE-Advance and WiFi (IEEE 802.11n/ac). The EVM error parameter is examined for each standard. To work with different standards a universal workplace have been proposed (testbed). This universal workplace serves for adjusting transmitting and receiving means and for processing signals transmitted and interpreted. Matlab was chosen for this work, through which only control devices such as generators and analyzers from Rohde & Schwarz. This workplace also measures the coexistence of these standards. At the conclusion of this thesis, different coexistence scenarios were designed and evaluated through testbed results.
