Modélisation de la lubrification des surfaces texturées. Application à la butée en régime hydrodynamique / Modeling the lubrication effects induced by textured surfaces. Application to the hydrodynamic thrust bearing

Gherca, Andrei 03 October 2013 (has links)
Understanding and modeling a lubricated contact in the presence of surface textures requires a refined physical description in order to comprehend and explain the contradicting results that are currently presented in international literature. An increasing number of theoretical and experimental studies have shown that surface texturing could improve the tribological properties of lubricated or even dry contacts. The load-carrying capacity, the friction coefficient or the wear resistance are the main characteristics that can be improved through texturing. Nevertheless, the lubrication mechanisms that might explain these effects are still the subject of debate within the scientific community. These various contradictions have lead to a significant development of this particular field of research. In this scientific context, the main objective of this thesis is to lead, by means of a thorough numerical and theoretical analysis, towards a better understanding of the physical effects induced by surface texturing in lubricated contacts. The geometrical parameters, which are essential with regard to the generated effects, are submitted to a detailed investigation that also takes into account the influence of the operating conditions (surface speed, viscosity, ambient pressure etc.). The theoretical conclusions obtained throughout this investigation should lead to an improvement in texture design and should allow an optimization of most devices operating in lubricated conditions. Among these various applications, the hydrodynamic thrust bearing has been chosen in order to illustrate the relevance of our findings.

The acquisition of shares in non-listed companies

Awkar, Marouchka 15 December 2017 (has links)
However, with the presence of the private equity, institutional investors and different vehicles of investment, the subject is more related to business law. In fact many legal techniques were created by practitioners to respond to the investor’s needs such as preferred shares and different securities; similarly the creation of different ways to acquire shares such as holding companies and the stock carrying agreement. There is no specific regulation for the acquisition of shares in non-listed companies. The principle of contractual freedom prevails. The French and Lebanese legislation contains many similar legal principles. Nevertheless, few years ago, the French laws, influenced by the international business law, and the Anglo-Saxon approach of the subject, have evolved. This was not the case in Lebanon, although the practice of private equity was developed in Lebanon. We will proceed through this study, to clarify the notion of acquisition of shares in non-listed companies, as well as the different techniques used. It is also useful to examine how much we can apply the negotiation principles and new clauses that often accompany the sale agreement of shares, in the context of Lebanese and French law

Host Community Attitudes and Overtourism : The Case of the Puster Valley in South Tyrol, Italy

Weiss, Thomas January 2021 (has links)
This study investigates host community attitudes towards tourism in South Tyrol’s Puster Valley in Italy along with predispositions against the emerging phenomenon of overtourism and explores the factors influencing its formations, as similar research in the same European context with a more mature tourism industry is still underdeveloped. Applying quantitative methods, data was collected through an online survey between May and June 2021. A total of 17 attitude statements were analyzed using IBM’s SPSS and the results indicate that tourism impacts in the valley are perceived evenly throughout the whole community while it was proven with Social Exchange Theory that people involved within the tourism industry are less inclined to perceive negative impacts. Choosing the Pragser Wildsee as a case, the analysis further reveals that overtourism is not only affecting residents in its vicinity put has more far-reaching consequences. Even the results not being very surprising, the study is confirming tourism-related issues and suggests more need in investigating resident attitudes in similar environments.
