Löfvenhaft, Åsa January 2013 (has links)

Sturk, Malin January 2011 (has links)
Sustainable development is an important challenge in our time and public health has an impact on all of its three dimensions.  The importance of integrating public health in sustainable development is emphasized in many public policies but there is limited research about the implementations. The aim of this study is to explore the importance of public health in sustainable development from a bottom up municipal perspective. A single-case study was conducted and data was collected through documents and interviews. The result shows that the concepts public health and sustainable development is not used together. But determinants for health often occur in sustainable development contexts and in public policies. To succeed in integrating public health with sustainable development a broad perspective on public health is important. An opportunity in the integration process is to develop and promote cooperation between different sectors. Some challenges are to educate the population and the civil servants and see the comprehensive picture in the work towards a sustainable development. The conclusions show that economic development and growth is high priority in the municipalities and the public health work should be altered to promote economic growth. To link the concept of public health to sustainable development it should be included in the public health work to create success with economic growth and sustainable development.

AI-systems möjligheter i enavancerad support- och industrikontext / AI-systems possbilities in an advanced support- and industry context

Olsson, Linn January 2019 (has links)
A case studie at Siemens supportorganisation is studied and the possibilities to use an AI-system for improvements. This is studied with theories in distributed cognition and what is available in AI-systems such as chatbots. Through contextual inquiry, which is a part of the method Contextual Design, affinity diagrams were made and a analysis through DiCoT to create a relevant image. This is used to discuss consequences for the design of an AI-system that the supporttechnicians need.  Through the result the many systems that the supporttechnicians use are illustrated and how they depend on eachother to solve difficulties. In the conclusion different suggestions are made about a AI-system for the support technicians but also an alternative that is customer related.

The nexus between foreign direct investment and budget deficit in SADC Region

Hlongwane, Thabang Moses January 2020 (has links)
Thesis (M.Com. (Economics)) -- University of Limpopo, 2020 / The remarkable increase in FDI flows to developing countries over the last decade has focused attention on whether this source of financing enhances overall development and growth in the economy. To attain foreign direct investment and sustainable economic growth of a country, balanced budget is not only important but necessary. The aim of the study was to examine the nexus between foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows and budget deficit in a panel of five Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries (Malawi, South Africa, Tanzania, Namibia, and Zambia). The study employed the Panel Auto Regressive Distributed Lag (PARDL) model in examining the relationship between budget deficit and FDI. The panel unit root tests results showed different orders of integration (at levels and first-order) giving way to the use of PARDL. Co-integration test results confirmed a long-run relationship in the budget deficit FDI series. In the long run, there is a significant negative relationship between budget deficit and FDI. The speed of adjustment is 36%, implying that the system would converge faster to equilibrium. Furthermore, Granger causality test results indicated a bi-directional causal link on the interest rate – inflation and interest rate – FDI models. However, there is a unidirectional causality running from budget deficit to FDI; interest rate to the budget deficit and FDI to inflation. It is recommended that government should attract more foreign direct investment so as to minimise budget deficit and this could speed up the development of SADC countries. Key Terms: Foreign direct investment, budget deficit, Autoregressive-Distributed Lag, panel data, Granger causality.

Teacher participation in site-based management in schools: a case study

Khoza, Shonaphi Fanecky 30 November 2004 (has links)
Site-based management (SBM) is recent restructuring initiative in schools. The study is carried out with the aim of investigating the extent to which teachers participate in site-based management in schools. The researcher assumes that teachers are sidelined in site-based management in schools. An extensive literature review provides a theoretical foundation of the study and exposes the nature of site-based management. The qualitative approach is used in the case study. Data are collected through interviews that were conducted between July and September 2004. The interpretive paradigm is used in data collection, analysis and interpretation. The collected data are analysed through inductive analysis. The major research finding is that teachers are marginalised in site-based management in schools and that school-based decision making is still largely in the hands of school principals. It is recommended that principals and SMT's improve their management and leadership styles in order to allow for real participation of teachers in decision-making to take place. / Educational Studies / M.Ed (Education Management)
