Analýza ekonomického a neekonomického dopadu konania MS v hokeji 2011 na Slovensku so zameraním na cestovný ruch. / The analysis of economic and non-economic impacts of organization of the 2011 IIHF World Ice Hockey Championship in Slovakia with emphasis on tourism

Vyšná, Kristína January 2011 (has links)
In the first part of this final thesis the theory of tourism events and their impact on the host destination is discussed, with particular focus on major sport events. Impacts are divided into two categories: economic and non-economic (socio-cultural, environmental, marketing impact and impact on infrastructure). These break into sub-categories and are described in detail. The second part of the thesis uses the theoretical knowledge outlined in part one to analyse the impact of a specific major sporting event -- the 2011 IIHF World Ice Hockey Championship that took place in Bratislava and Kosice in Slovakia. Emphasis is placed on analysing the effects the event had on the tourism sector in Slovakia. Having analysed both economic and non-economic impacts of the event, the thesis concludes that the overall impact of the event on the Slovak tourism sector was positive and the Slovak Republic can use this momentum in favour of further development of Slovak tourism sector.

M-C-O or M-C...No? Multi-Club Ownership in English Football and Its Drivers

Lundgren, Joakim, Heljeberg, Oskar January 2021 (has links)
Multi-club ownership [MCO] is a concept within the football industry which entails that an owner holds significant stakes in multiple teams. This ownership strategy is not new, however, what are the driving forces of this type of ownership structure and what are the outcomes? The purpose of this study was to explore potential drivers of MCO, to irradiate the concept and determine whether traditional business administration theories can be applied to explain its existence. The main theoretical framework is based upon the shareholder theory and resource-based view of the firm with supplementary reasoning collected from other relevant theories. The study encompasses five seasons and consisted of the teams competing in the top two divisions in the English Football League system. The quantitative study covered six hypotheses and deployed both Two sample t-tests and regression models which sought to measure international player trading activity, sporting performance and financial performance. The results of the study show that multi-club portfolio members [MCPMs] tend to trade a larger share of players internationally compared to Non-MCPMs. However, the other models yielded no significant results in regard to MCPMs, although, value creation through the strategy cannot be disregarded as it may be present through other channels. The wider footballing industry has been studied extensively in previous literature. However, this study is focused on MCO, a topic that lacks a previous body of research. By filling this research gap the authors hope to illuminate the concept and increase transparency for both decision makers (owners of clubs) and supporters of clubs. In addition, a survey which is not empirically tested was conducted in order to help guide the proceedings of the research.

Kanta, Jakub January 2016 (has links)
Title: Comparison of selected performance indicators basketball players from NBA in matches at the European Championship in 2011 and World Cup 2014 Goals: Analyze individual efforts NBA players for two international events with national team, in broader context to evaluate and quantify their efficiency with the two special coefficients. Compare their performance on each tournament with using selected statistics, than compare them with the elite players in many categories at the championships, but also in their teams. I think very useful is final comparison their results on tournaments with their career averages from national team and NBA regular season, to see if the performances for national team achieve their performances in the best club competition in the world. In teoretical part I'll also focus to the socio-economic aspects affecting composition of national basketball teams, which significantly affect the overall composition and therofore their success , which is prestented by overall team placement. Obvious is endeavour to describe the diversity of game plans in overeas and Europe, but also different politics of NBA and FIBA. Method: For my thesis I chose a secondary analysis of official statistics NBA players emerged on both of these tournaments, so the Europeans, but also with a valid...

The subject of this thesis is the analysis of promotional materials of the sports event - European Indoor Championship in Athletics, which took place from 5 March to 8 March 2015 in Prague. For this purpose, the method of complex semiotic analysis is used. The thesis includes introduction into context. Theoretical background of chosen method is not omitted. In the thesis is explained the application of semiotic analysis to the selected problem. The main and secondary research questions are defined and there are specified the forms of promotion or types of media, on which are the partial semiotic analysis performed, too. This thesis is aimed on revelation differences in promotional materials of the event targeting the general or the professional public. For this reason, in the course of selecting the specific forms of promotion, which are included in the research, was paid attention on the similar characteristic of the pattern for each target group from the viewpoint of media mix. In the sections dedicated to the research are, by the semiotic analysis, analysed chosen promotional materials targeting the general or the professional public. There are interpreted the meanings of symbols and codes used in the promotional materials. Outputs arising from the analysis are evaluated by answering the...

Ein Mega-Event für Japan und Korea

Dunkel, Carolin 28 May 2010 (has links)
The 2002 FIFA Football World Cup was co-hosted by Japan and South Korea but this co-operation was not a voluntary one. What would the two unequal partners make out of FIFA’s decision? Could the co-hosting become a chance to improve their relation? To interpret the World Cup in terms of Mega-Event theory helps to answer these questions. A Mega-Event is not only a unique chance to promote one’s image to the world but also to create a positive self-image and self-awareness. Both are important processes for the relocation of a nation in the international society and both are what the hosting of a Mega-Event is about. It is here where one finds the Korean and Japanese motivation to host the World Cup 2002. An analyses of the discours in both countries monthly magazines shows how different the expectations were and how Korean and Japanese fans experienced the Event. While South Korea’s first aim was to show to the world its equal standing next to its neighbor Japan, the topics discussed in the Japanese World Cup discours suggest that internationalization was what Japan expected from hosting the Mega-Event. But when the competition started and the Korean team rushed from victory to victory the only thing that mattered were the overwelming emotions of unity millions of Koreans shared. This experience provided an unexpected sence of national pride and self-confidence that changed the Korean self-awareness. This changed attitude might be the most important outcome of Korea’s World Cup hosting. The Japanese team was kicked out of the competition more quickly but this paved the way for many Japanese fans to get more and more interested in the Korean team and to discover an unknown and fascinating Korea. The Japanese who had cheered for the Korean team experienced an unity with Korea no other event could possibly have caused. In these ways the unplaned co-hosting and its unexpected outcomes served both countries’ initial aimes better than a single-hosted Mega-Event would have done.

Odraz změny pravidel v herním výkonu vrcholových družstev žen v házené / Reflection of change of rules in the way of women's top handball playing performance

Trepáčová, Klára January 2019 (has links)
Title: Reflection of change of rules in the way of women's top handbal playing performance. Objectives: The aim of this thesis is the analysis of playing short-handed during the offense in chosen women's teams at the 2017 World Women's Handball Championship. For the purpose of the thesis I have chosen only parts of matches when a team plays short-handed with six attacking players against six defenders. Methods: I tis a quantitative research, where my focus is on evaluating the number of goals while playing short-handed. The data obtained will be enriched with the use of the qualitative research. Results: I have found out that, in the teams observed, a game without a goalkeeper during the attack phase in penalty can be applied in any stage of the match, since the chance of conceding a goal into an empty handbal goal is extremely low. Such a game influences the game-based performance and also influences result of the match. Keywords: Handball, rules, the seventh player in the field, short-handed, World Women's Handball Championship, game without goalkeeper

In particular, we can cite bivariate counts, such as the analysis of sports scores. As a result, in this work we present the bivariate Poisson distribution to modelling positively correlated scores. The possible independence between counts is also addressed through the double Poisson model, which arises as a special case of the bivariate Poisson model. The main characteristics and properties of these models are presented and a simulation study is conducted to evaluate the behavior of the estimates for different sample sizes. Considering the possibility of modeling parameters by insertion of predictor variables, we present the structure of the bivariate Poisson regression model as a general case as well as the structure of an effects model for application in sports data. Particularly, in this work we will consider applications to Brazilian Championship Serie A 2012 data, in which the effects will be estimated by double Poisson and bivariate Poisson models. Once obtained the fits, the probabilities of scores occurence are estimated and then we obtain forecasts for the outcomes. In order to obtain more accurate forecasts, we present the weighted likelihood method from which it will be possible to quantify the relevance of the data according to the time they were observed.
