Die Nachlassbibliothek Carlfriedrich Claus’: Ein Erschließungskonzept unter Berücksichtigung von Werk und Biografie

Weisbach, Robin 16 March 2017 (has links)

New social movements, Claus Offe, and environmental groups in British Columbia

Benson, Donna 11 1900 (has links)
New Social Movement Theory characterizes post 1960's protest movements such as the peace, environment and women's movement as being distinctively different from older movements such as the workers movement. The salient differences are in the social bases from which the movements draw their participants, the types of issues which are addressed, and the methods used in their protest. New Social Movements are heralded as being the vanguard for social change by some and as a bourgeoise distraction from the "real" project of emancipation by others. The objective of this thesis is to examine the congruence of the environmental movement in British Columbia with this concept of New Social Movements. Using the theoretical formulations of Claus Offe as a base, the thesis examines the social makeup of environmental groups in British Columbia, reviews the types of issues on which they are working, and identifies the methods which they employ in their protests. The results indicate that, while the leadership may be drawn from a more highly educated and service oriented new middle class, the general membership represents a broad social base. The issues addressed by the movement are perceived as being for the "benefit of all" rather than for a specific social class, and the methods of protest employed are primarily of a "working for change within the systems" approach as opposed to overthrowing any established political system. The thesis concludes that, while there may be elements of radicalism within the movement, it is primarily characterized as reformist, with many small fragments working on specific issues, loosely networked, and dedicated to working with government and other sectors of the population to find solutions.

Santa Claus: : an opera in one act

Brown, Jason Edward January 2001 (has links)
The musical structure of Santa Claus is similar to Alban Berg's statements about his opera Wozzeck, that the audience does not need to be aware of the underlying processes that are in motion.Seen from the highest level of stratification, Santa Claus the opera is essentially a single sonata-allegro movement. The first scene is the exposition, scenes two through four are the development, and the fifth scene the recapitulation. Also at this level can be seen the overall arch shape of the formal structure. This arch reflects not only the melodic material, but tempo, texture, and structural design. At the next level of stratification each of the five scenes is a movement of a fivemovement sonata form. The first scene is a sonata-allegro form. The second scene is a scherzo and trio with a repetition of the scherzo during the interlude. The third scene is a fantasy and canon; the fourth scene is an Adagio in ABA form. And lastly the fifth scene, again not strictly a sonata movement, contains an aria and a march and trio. The third layer of stratification is the continuous development and variation of four melodic/harmonic units. The development of these units forms the structural base of the entire opera at both the local level and the global level, and it is through this process that the both global and local structures can be identified. / School of Music

A singular sonoridade de Matita Perê construída por meio da parceria de Tom Jobim e Claus Ogerman / The singular sonority of Matita Perê built by the partnership of Tom Jobim and Claus Ogerman

Lopes, Patrícia de Almeida Ferreira 26 April 2017 (has links)
The main purpose of this work was to investigate the jobinian sonority in the song Matita Perê (1973), by Tom Jobim and Paulo César Pinheiro. For this, we concentrated on the research of how Claus Ogerman contributed to the result designed by Jobim, and how the arranger and the composer, both with their personal and distinct references, worked together to build this sonority. This research is based on the analysis of the song Matita Perê, the observations of the building processes of the orchestration and the poetic interfaces. It aimed at broadening the knowledge of the musical work of Antônio Carlos Brasileiro de Almeida Jobim, thus contributing to the understanding of the legacy of the Brazilian song writer. The substantial result of this academic research was the construction of computer edited musical scores of the original recording of Matita Perê, making them available for future studies.
