An investigation of different phases of pentecostal experience in the Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM)

Hwata, Benny 30 November 2005 (has links)
This dissertation is an analysis of differing Pentecostal experiences in Apostolic Faith Mission from its inception, with specific reference to the AFM of South Africa and AFM in Zimbabwe. The study examines: The brief history of the AFM. This begins with the Azusa Street Revival in Los Angels. Pentecostalism then spread to South Africa through John G. Lake with the founding of AFM of South Africa. AFM filtered into Zimbabwe where it faced stiff resistance from government authorities and established mainline churches. Theologies and spiritual gifts which make Pentecostalism different from other faiths. Main doctrines and tenets of faith discernible from the brief historical outline. A general outline of phases in Pentecostalism. An attempt will be made to determine whether these phases are applicable to AFM. This dissertation is a contribution towards reconciling diverging views concerning Pentecostalism in the AFM because various congregations of the same denomination behave and believe differently. / Philosophy, Practical and Systematic Theology / M.Th. Integrative transcending : mysticism beyond contact and experience

Dube, Christopher 06 1900 (has links)
This study explores an interpretation of mysticism as a way of life that is a response to what the mystic conceives of as ultimate reality. The suggestion is that what lies at the centre of reality is the sense of a dynamic non-dialectic absence/presence. Mysticism is suggested to be an exploration of this centre of reality that takes the form of a conjoined movement of transcending and integrating. The argument of the study is developed in light of the contemporary approach that has made mysticism either totally grounded in the mystic's socio-linguistic context (Steven T. Katz) or detached from it in a 'pure consciousness event' (Robert K. C. Forman et al), both of which are primarily driven by a focus on mysticism as an experience. What is judged to have been overlooked in the contemporary discussion is that which is argued as being most endemic to mysticism, that is, the explorative life-enactment of that which the mystic conceives of as ultimate reality. / Religious Studies and Arabic / M.A. (Religious Studies)

Eduardo Gonzales Moreira 04 March 2013 (has links)
This research works to establish and make evident the connections that unit Fradiques´ fables, based on these chosen works:Os Mistérios da Estrada de SintraandA Correspondência de Fradique Mendes, by Eça de Queiroz;O Único Filho de Fradique Mendes, by Frederico de Sá Perry Vidal;Nação Crioula, by José Eduardo Agualusa and Esquemas de Fradique, by Fernando Venâncio.By this way, its focus is proving that his fables are pieces of a unique and biggerentire. Iracema no cinema: nação e identidade na passagem do literário para o fílmico / Iracema on film: nation and identity from the literary to the filmic

Cesar Adolfo Zamberlan 08 August 2016 (has links)
Iracema on film: nation and identity from literary to the filmic seeks to answer a major question quite simple: how Brazilian cinema has appropriate of the most important characters of Brazilian literature, Iracema by José de Alencar? The present study investigates how this character, Iracema, central in the conception of the nation idea in the XIX century, was resignified by another artistc form, the cinema, in another time and in another historical and social context. This study, therefore, compares Portuguese language texts: literary text, Iracema (José de Alencar, 1865), and filmic texts, Iracema (Carlos Coimbra, 1974), Iracema (Jorge Bodanzky e Orlando Senna, 1974) and Cine Tapuia (Rosemberg Cariry, 2002).In addition to proposing a model for analyzing the adaptation of literary works for cinema, this study aims to understand how occurred the projection of themes and characters of the romance beyond its historical time.

Andréa Castelaci Martins 16 October 2013 (has links)
This thesis aims to analyze, from a comparative perspective, the works: Kaba Darebu and the tortoise The adventures of Daniel Mundurukú and short history of people and animal, of Ciça Fittipaldi, in view of the cultural specificities of each author and how they reflect on their productions, as well as highlight features of their ideological and aesthetic designs. Taking into account the principles of comparative studies, another focus of analysis will be dialogues between each writer with other areas of knowledge, such as anthropology, art and education, considering both the academic and his professional performance. Taking into account the weights of Antonio Candido with respect to the influences of the social and political context in the literature, this paper will also address the 11,645 law - which establishes the teaching of social and cultural contributions of African peoples and indigenous Brazilian schools - and the possibility of reflection of the same in the literary production of indigenous issues these authors.
