Disserta??o (Mestrado) ? Knowledge the behavior of plants against environmental resources, such as light, water and mainly the availability of nutrients in the soil, being essential to management in agroecosystems. Field reports suggest the weed species of fast cycle has the characteristics following: well adapted to soils of high fertility and high capacity to accumulate dry matter; which plant matter is quickly decomposed in soil. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of increasing of N, P and K doses on growth of Nicandra physaloides as well as the nutrients content, chemical characteristics and C/N ratio of the weed. In the first experiment was evaluated the influence of nutrient levels in accumulation and partitioning of dry matter, height and growth rates of N. physaloides. In the second experiment evaluated the effects of N, P and K doses on content and accumulation of nutrients, chemical characteristics and the C/N ratio of the weed. The specie was highly responsive to fertilization. However, biomass partitioning was not altered by fertilization. When grown on low soils fertility levels, N. physaloides showed low growth rates on low nutrients level. Higher N, P and K contents were observed in plants grown on higher levels of fertilizer. The increasing of N, P and K levels of soil resulted in greater total accumulation of these macronutrients. The treatments did not affect the chemical composition (NDF and ADF) and the C/N ratio of plant. N. physaloides showed lower C/N ratio during experimental period, which combined to low levels of NDF and ADF and great nutrient accumulation, suggests that this plant matter is quickly decomposed, providing a rapid cycling of nutrients.

Disserta??o (Mestrado) ? Despite being one of most vegetables grown in Brazil and show great potential for use in food, animal and industrial, have been little studied. The objective was to identify superior clones and assess the production and quality of roots, stems and branches of silage from sweet potato clones in different harvesting periods and environments of cultivation. An experiment was conducted on campus and another on Farm II forks, both located in the city of Diamantina-MG with three seasons of harvest. Roots were evaluated in the total yield, commercial yield, total weight, weight commercial, insect resistance of soil, shape of roots, crude protein, crude fiber, ash, starch, phenolic compounds and heritability. In shoots was evaluated the yield of green matter, dry matter yield of dry matter, crude protein and crude fiber. Silage was made of branches to 150 days after harvest at Farm forks, where it was considered crude protein, ADF, NDF, TDN, pH, dry matter, hemicellulose and ammonia nitrogen in relation to total nitrogen. The results presented, we find that the BD-25 clones, and BD-38 BD-45, at Farm forks, submitted the highest total and commercial yield of roots and should be harvested later. The Farm was the fork where the sweet potato clones showed, I mean, the highest total and commercial yields of roots and the highest average weight of roots and total trade. The lowest notes to format roots were in earlier harvests. The crude protein, crude fiber, ash and starch in dry matter of roots were not influenced by the environment of cultivation. To obtain higher yields of green matter and dry, the stems should be harvested up to 150 days after planting. Farm forks were obtained in the highest yield of green matter and dry matter of branches. The dry matter in branches increased with the crop cycle. The stems of sweet potato, have potential for use in animal feed, both as fresh and as silage.

Disserta??o (Mestrado Profissional) ? The experiment was conducted at the Moura Experimental Farm, belonging to Universidade Feseral dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri (UFVJM), in Curvelo, Minas Gerais. For the evaluation of productive, structural and nutritive characteristics, we used a completely randomized design with repeated measures in the time, with four grazing cycles and two grazing strategies. For consumption of animals, we used a completely randomized design, in a 2 x 3 factorial, with two grazing strategies and three days of occupation, and 2 x 4 scheme (two strategies and four cycles of grazing) for stocking rate. There was no effect for the variables: availability, structure and chemical composition of forage, except for light interception and crude protein, in which treatment with LI showed the highest value of light interception (2.73% higher than the fixed days) and lower content of CP (1.08% lower than the fixed days treatment). There was effect for dry matter intake (P <0.05) between the days of occupation, and the highest values found on the first day (9.84 kg DM) and the lowest on the third day of occupation (6.21 kg DM). The stocking rate was 0.76 AU added to the management strategy with LI compared to treatment fixed days. Thus, taking into account practicality of adoption, good soil and climatic conditions, grazing management with intensification of fixed days shows great potential for pasture use.

Disserta??o (Mestrado) ? The study was conducted at the Experimental Farm of Moura- UFVJM, located in Curvelo MG. A completely randomized design in a factorial 3 x 3, three species of tropical forage legumes was adopted (Stilosanthes Campo Grande, Kudzu and Macrotyloma) and three stages of dehydration (Phase 1: 0 to 8 am; 2nd phase: 12 to 20h; and phase 3: 24 to 32 hours of drying), with four replications. Differences between means were analyzed by the Tukey test (p <0.05). The foragers were manually cut, chopped and spread on plastic sheeting to optimize the dehydration. The dehydration of fodder began at 9:00 am on 21 February. The sampling procedure was performed every 2 hours on the first day and every 4 hours in the second and third days. In the time previously established, samples were identified, weighed and subjected to forced circulation oven temperature 55?C for 72h for pre-drying. For the determination of the dehydration curve and quantifying the loss of nutrients during dehydration were performed the following chemical analysis: dry matter (DM), mineral matter (MM), neutral detergent fiber corrected for ash and protein (NDFap), acid detergent fiber (ADF), ether extract (EE), crude protein (CP), non-protein nitrogen (NPN) and soluble carbohydrates (SCHO). It was also estimated the total carbohydrates (TCH), non-fibrous carbohydrate (NFC) and total digestible nutrients (TDN). During dehydration curve was greater drying efficiency for Stilosanthes and Kudzu species. At the end of the assessment times, Macrotyloma presents moisture content higher than recommended for storage. The three legumes have increasing the dry matter content due to the dehydration time. No effects for MM, NDF, FDA, CNF, CHT and NDT during the dehydration curve. The Stilosanthes and Macrotyloma showed loss in EE levels in the first phase, the Macrotyloma showed the highest EE levels among the studied species. The Kudzu has increased in the first phase CP content for the second and was legume with the highest content of this nutrient among the studied legumes. The three legumes have reduced the NPN content in the first to the second phase of dehydration curve. The Macrotyloma was the only legume that decreased the SCHO contents during dehydration curve and legumes that presented the highest levels of this constituent. The Stilosanthes was legume that presented the most efficient dehydration during the haying process, coming faster to the moisture content recommended for storage.

Completely randomized design with a factorial arrangement of five (45% N) (0, 1, 2, 3 and 4% based on dry matter) commercial urea doses distributed in a split-plot at two periods (30 and 45 days) for the bags opening, with five replications each was employed. The ammoniated material was stored in (1 kg hay / bag) plastic bags, sealed and after opening, samples were collected for bromathological analysis. No dose effect, time and dose x time interaction for dry matter, ether extract, neutral detergent fiber, acid detergent fiber, hemicellulose, cellulose, lignin, acid detergent insoluble nitrogen, mineral matter, total carbohydrates, B2 fractions and carbohydrates fraction (P> 0.05) were reported. The variables crude protein, neutral detergent insoluble nitrogen and non-fibrous carbohydrates were influenced by urea doses. The ammoniation of Tifton 85 hay with urea at 1; 2; 3: 4% doses on dry matter might promote increases in crude protein and non-fibrous carbohydrates. However, cell wall constituents of the forage might not be altered, as well.

The vine?s yield and wilting effect on the chemical composition and fermentative capacity of the sweet potatoes? vines have been evaluated, using a 7x2 factorial arrangement (genotypes ?X? vines wilted or not), a randomized block design with four replications. Genotypes differed on the SMP and DM, NDF, ADF, CEL, LIG, CS, NIDA and CIN contents. Wilting promoted an increase in DM, CP, NIDA and fibrous components and reduction in levels of soluble carbohydrates, making wilted vines of poorer quality. There was not observed effect of wilting on the fermentative ability of in natura or wilted vines. Genotypes BD-25, BD-08 and BD-23, had yields higher than 7.0 t ha-1, while the genotype BD-43, showed low levels of ADF. Besides these features, There have been analyzed the chemical-bromatological composition of the microbial population of sweet potato silage inoculated or not by means of a factorial arrangement 5x2 (genotype ?x? with or without inoculation). The silages with different genotypes differ in ADF, HEM, and pH values. The use of inoculum did not change the microbial population and the characteristics or nutritive value of silages, except for the pH value. In general, the silage produced by all genotypes has good nutritional characteristics, however, the silage genotype BD-43 stood out, showing low levels of ADF.

Disserta??o (Mestrado) ? Three independent experiments were performed in a greenhouse with a randomized block design, in a double factorial. The experiments were with three forage species Bachiaria ruzizienses, Brachiaria brizantha cv. MG-5 Vit?ria and Panicum maximum cv. momba?a: the treatments: Four Degrees of Compaction (GC) ? 65%; 75%; 85% and 95% and four doses of nitrogen fertilizer? 0; 200; 250 e 300 Kg de N ha-1), with four replications. The experiment was conducted in pots in a greenhouse located at UFVJM JK campus, Diamantina-MG. At the site of the soil sampling used in the experiment, samples of 5kg approximately were collected to perform the normal Proctor test, determining soil density and humidity for each specimen. Once stipulated the GC, knowing the maximum density of the soil and the pot volume, it was possible to calculate the mass of soil to be placed in the pots for each GC. The samples were collected 90 days after sowing, to carry out evaluations in the laboratory. The variables analyzed in plants were: green mass production (MV) and dry matter (MS) of the shoot, height, root volume, crude protein (PB), neutral detergent fiber (FDN), acid detergent fiber (FDA) and lignin. To carry out the soil penetration resistance test (RP), the undisturbed soil samples were worked and saturated for a period of 48 h, next we started the RP readings. It was also performed the evaluation of RP in pots containing compacted soil with a 95% GC, before sowing and the modeling was performed by adjusting an exponential model of RP x humidity and they were compared statistically by an identity test of models. It was concluded that the MV, MS of the shoot, height of plants and crude protein content increased linearly with the application of nitrogen in all the studied forages. As it increases the nitrogen levels, the levels of FDN and FDA in all studied forages decreased. For the root volume, the Brachiaria brizantha cv. MG-5 Vit?ria responded linearly and positively to increasing doses of nitrogen in compacted soil. In the evaluation of soil physical properties, the soil cultivated with Brachiaria ruziziensis was the one that presented a higher RP in humidity at field capacity in the degree of compaction of 95%. The three forage species have relief capacity of the compacted soil structure, however, the Brachiaria brizantha cv. MG-5 Vit?ria proved to be the most efficient one.

The experiment took place at the Experimental Farm of Moura, belonging to the Federal University of the Jequitinhonha and Mucuri Valleys (UFVJM), located in the municipality of Curvelo, MG and the laboratory analyzes performed at the Animal Nutrition Laboratory, Department of Animal Science UFVJM Campus Diamantina, MG. A completely randomized 4 x 4 factorial design was adopted, with four levels of addition of crambe meal (CM: 0, 5, 10 and 20%, based on natural materials) and four days of opening of silos (10; 20; 30; 60 days after the opening of silos), with four replicates. For the evaluation of the chemical composition was used: dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), mineral matter (MM), crude protein (CP), ether extract (EE), neutral detergent fiber corrected for ash and protein (NDFap), acid detergent fiber (ADF), total carbohydrates (TC), non-fibrous carbohydrates (NCF) and total digestible nutrients calculated (TDN calculated. Regarding the fermentative profile were evaluated: water activity (AW), hydrogenionic potential (pH), electrical conductivity (EC), soluble carbohydrates (sCHT), ammonia-nitrogen concentration (N-NH3). Data were subjected to regression analysis (P> 0.05). For variable EE, only dose and time effect was observed (P> 0.05). For the factors? interaction (levels of inclusion of CM x opening time) was observed effect for MS, MM, CP, MO, NDFap, ADF, TC, NFC, TDN, CE, AW, sCHT, pH and N-NH3. The addition of crambe meal in sugarcane silage boosted the chemical composition, since there was an increase in DM, CP, NFC, and a reduction in fibrous components (NDFap and ADF), thus providing better quality food. The changes promoted by the addition of the FC to the 20% inclusion in cane silage did not affect the fermentation characteristics of silage. The inclusion of the FC is given to the level of 10% (based on natural matter), since larger inclusions lead in an unfavorable increase in dry matte, ammonia nitrogen and reduced levels of carbohydrates. From 30 days after ensiling, the ensiled material already presented tendency towards stabilization.

As composi??es minerais s?o bem distintas. / This work had as objectives to determine the physicochemical and mineral compositions of the dehydrated seeds of the soft jackfruit (SJ) and of the hard jackfruit (HJ), of the dehydrated, in nature and lyophilized pulps of the SJ and HJ. For this, were determined the percentages of: moisture, ash, lipids, protein and carbohydrate. The concentrations of the elements calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, chromium, manganese, potassium, sodium, zinc, nickel and cobalt were analyzed by ICP-OES. The results showed that the seeds of SJ and of HJ have very close bromatological compositions: 63% moisture, 18% carbohydrate, 15% protein and 3% ash. The major difference was in the lipids contente (0,4% - SJ and 0,9% - HJ). The mineral compositions are quite distinct. Potassium and magnesium are the most abundant in both varieties (96% - SJ and 93% - HJ). The seeds of HJ have 5,5 times more Na, 24% more Ca, 3 times more Zn and 2% more K. The seeds of SJ have 32% more Fe, 37% more Mn and 16% more Mg. From a physicochemical point of view, the pulps have a great distinction. The pulp of HJ has 9,5 times more lipids and twice the carbohydrate. The pulp of SJ has 10% more moisture and 14% more ash. The protein content is very similar. In pulps, the composition of minerals is quite different, although potassium and magnesium are the major elements in the two varieties (96% - SJ and 93% - HJ). The pulp of SJ has 33% more K, 29% more Mg, 26% more Mn, 48% more Na, 16% more Cu, 24% more Fe and 5% more Zn. The pulp of HJ has 45% more Ca, which may explain its greater firmness. The chemical composition of the pulps in nature of SJ and HJ are very similar in relation to the concentrations of Fe, Cu, Mn and Mg. The HJ in nature pulp has 2,6 times more Ca and 27% more Zn. The in nature soft variety has 5% more K and 25% more Na. The freeze-drying preserved the carbohydrate content in the pulps of the two varieties of jackfruit. The SJ lyophilized pulp had the lower metal content than the pulp dehydrated in the oven. The results were submitted to the paired t test, with 95% significance, to infer the significance of the equality or inequality of the parameters compared.
